Victoria had no clue Michael had already checked out her resume. Right now, she was busy gawking at her new place.
"I thought a pricey house would be way fancier, but this just looks like a regular home," she muttered, touching everything in sight. What really threw her off was how new the place seemed—like no one had lived there yet, with some furniture still in boxes.
Just then, her phone buzzed in her pocket. She figured it was Michael, but nope, it was David. "Victoria, Michael sent me a pic of you two. You're stunning; he's one lucky guy to have married you!" David's compliment made her blush a bit.
She was about to thank him when his next words nearly made her choke. "Now that you two are hitched, when are you planning on having kids? You should have two, a boy and a girl, while I'm still healthy enough to help out!" David's voice was full of excitement.
"Grandpa, Michael and I just met today. Relationships need time to grow. Give us a bit more time," Victoria said with a forced smile, shaking her head.
'Grandpa, you probably won't live to see us have kids. Michael's off with his rich boss, and I'm not into cheaters,' she thought but kept it to herself, worried the truth might be too much for David's weak heart.
David sighed deeply. "I get it, but I'm just anxious. I might not have much time left and really want to see your kids."
Victoria rolled her eyes. She couldn't believe the same guy who just said he was healthy enough to help with kids was now saying this. "Don't worry, Grandpa. When the time's right, you'll definitely get your wish," she reassured him like calming a child.
Sure enough, David perked up after her reassurance. "Alright, I'll wait for the good news," he said, laughing as he hung up.
Victoria slipped her phone back in her pocket and shook her head. She was about to head out to buy some essentials. But just as she opened the door, her phone rang again. Thinking it was David, she sighed and said, "Stop pushing me; I can't have kids right now!"
On the other end, Joseph's mouth twitched. "Mrs. Gonzales, this is the Jones Group. I'm calling to inform you that you have an interview tomorrow. Will you attend?"
Realizing it wasn't David, she felt super embarrassed. "Sorry, I thought you were someone else. Yes, I'll be there," she said, blushing as she hung up.
"Oh my gosh, how embarrassing," she muttered, covering her face and stomping her feet. After calming down, she shared the good news with Sophia.
Meanwhile, in the CEO's office at the Jones Group, Joseph hung up and looked at Michael. "It's done. She'll be there for the interview tomorrow."
Michael nodded. "Got it. Anything else she mentioned?"
Joseph paused for a couple of seconds before a sly grin spread across his face. "She said she wants to have kids with you."
Michael's face turned beet red, all the way down to his neck. 'A nearly 30-year-old guy who's all about work and still a virgin. Poor dude,' Joseph thought, giving Michael a look of pity.
Back at home, Victoria had just returned with a bunch of daily necessities for her new place. With her single status, housing, and job situation all sorted, she was in a fantastic mood.
Humming a tune, she grabbed a cloth and started wiping down every corner of the house. Even though they were just a contract couple, Victoria felt she should honor the deal and do what a wife would do.
After finishing the housework, she looked at her sweat-soaked clothes and decided it was time for a bath. "This big bathtub is so comfy," she sighed, soaking in the tub, feeling the gentle water flow over her body, making her close her eyes in bliss.
Just as she was enjoying her bath, she suddenly heard the door open and footsteps. "Did I forget to lock the door?" she thought, startled. Thinking a thief had broken in, she planned to call for help, but her phone was on the other side of the sink.
She immediately stood up from the tub to get her phone, but with water on the floor, she slipped and fell. The bathroom door swung open, and a worried Michael rushed in, locking eyes with her.
Michael's gaze fell on Victoria's smooth back, bare skin, and perky buttocks, and he instinctively swallowed hard. After a brief silence, Victoria screamed, "Get out!"
Michael, startled, quickly ran out of the bathroom, closing the door behind him. Leaning against the wall, he took deep breaths, his mind replaying the image of Victoria's naked body, his face gradually turning red.
A few minutes later, the bathroom door opened, and Victoria, wrapped in a bathrobe, walked out with her head down.
"I didn't mean to. I heard a noise and thought you were in danger," Michael explained awkwardly. "Don't worry, I didn't see anything."
Suddenly, Victoria looked up at him with a smile and asked, "Do you think my body looks good?"
Michael instinctively replied, "Yes, very sexy." Realizing what he just said, he quickly covered his mouth, seeing Victoria's angry expression.
"I'm going to fight you, you pervert!" she yelled, lunging at him.
Victoria thought Michael would dodge, but feeling guilty, he decided to stand still and take the hit. This caused her to crash into him, and they both fell, with her lips landing on his. For a moment, their eyes widened, the air thick with awkward and ambiguous tension.
Suddenly, Michael's expression changed, and Victoria's eyes widened even more. She quickly got up, ran into the bedroom, and slammed the door shut.
