Chapter 57

"Okay babe, spill. What was that about?"Yvonne asked me when we got to the middle of the dancing floor away from everyone else.

I didn't feel okay airing out Hunter's and I's dirty laundry for everyone to see but I needed some clarity from a third party. Yvonne was also turning out to be a good friend and my instincts told me that I could trust her.

"Who is Britney? Like really, what is her relationship to Hunter. Don't lie to me Yvonne."I requested her politely.

Yvonne looked at me with wide eyes because I'd pushed her to a corner. There was more to Britney than Hunter had revealed to me on valentines day. I needed to know the truth because I knew for a fact that they weren't mere acquaintances.

I looked at Yvonne waiting for an answer and I could see the battle between her loyalty to Hunter and her duty to me as a fellow woman. Finally she sighed and squeezed my hands reassuringly as if preparing me for the worst.

"Hunter and Britney had a fling a couple of years back."Yvonne said with a sad smile.

"But he told me that there was nothing between them."I exclaimed.

"Because he probably doesn't consider it as one. It was a long time ago when they were both in university. Way before he even made it official with Veronica."Yvonne explained.

"But still he lied to me. When I asked him about her on Valentines he said she was only the daughter of his lawyer. I wouldn't have cared if they slept together just like I don't care that he dated Veronica because she's in his past."I lamented feeling like a fool.

Hunter had lied straight to my face when I asked him about his relationship with Britney and that didn't sit right with me.

"She is his past, that I can guarantee you. I don't know why he lied but you are his future Nala. I know you know this deep down so don't let what you see or think ruin the great thing you have with Hunter until you talk to him about it."Yvonne consoled.

I knew she was right but I still felt betrayed.

"He still lied to me."I cried.

"I know mami, I know and for that you can cockblock him but don't make any rash decisions. For now let's dance and make merry because we'll not be this young forever."Yvonne advised.

I looked back at Hunter and could see him staring at me through the crowd of people. He looked torn between approaching me and giving me my space. I looked away when I saw Britney approach the table.

"She's fucking everywhere."I gritted out angrily.

"Well she is Brian's cousin."Yvonne said surprising me.

"You couldn't have told me that first?!"I scolded her.

"Sorry but seriously there's nothing there."Yvonne assured me.

I wanted to ignore her. I had to ignore her because otherwise she would ruin my night.

"Okay this is me assuming her presence."I said taking a deep breath.

"Good."Yvonne said pulling me closer.

Just then Needed me by Rihanna blasted through the speakers.

"I love this song."Yvonne yelled excitedly.

"Me too."I replied with a laugh.

"Then let's sing and dance. Forget Hunter and Britney for now. That's a problem for later."Yvonne enticed pinching my cheeks.

"Okay let's dance."I cheered feeling a little relieved.

Talking about the issue with Yvonne had made me feel better instead of bottling it all in. With that thought in mind I pulled Yvonne closer and laughed when she started grinding on me.

But baby, don't get it twisted

You was just another nigga on the hit list

Tryna fix your inner issues with a bad bitch

Didn't they tell you that I was a savage

Fuck your white horse and a carriage

Bet you never could imagine

Never told you you could have it

We belted out the lyrics in our loudest voices me sounding better than Yvonne after four years of voice coaching by my teacher but having fun all the same.

The song changed to Calm Down by Rema making Yvonne and I cheer as we made a poor attempt at the songs choreography. We did terrible jobs but I was having fun and didn't care if people thought we were crazy.

"Don't look now but there is a creepy dude staring at us behind you."Yvonne whispered in my ear.

We turned around without trying to make it obvious and it was easy to make out the guy staring at us. He wasn't even trying to be discreet, just full on staring as he licked his lips. I didn't feel threatened because I knew Hunter was close by incase of anything but I was creeped out.

"Ignore him, hopefully he'll go away."I replied turning away.

Yvonne nodded and we continued dancing together. Just a couple of girls having fun. I did check the table once in a while to see Hunter's eyes were still on me and for my own sanity, Britney was now talking to Brian away from Hunter. I was stalling talking to him because I knew that it was an issue we needed to address but he could wait for just a little bit longer.

Unfortunately the creep didn't get the message and thought it was appropriate to approach us. And just like all wild dogs they ran in a pack so he brought a friend with him. Probably thinking they both could score.

"Hello ladies, looking beautiful tonight."Creep one commented raking his eyes over my body.

It made me feel naked because of how his gaze lingered on my boobs and thighs but I held my ground.

"Thank you, how can we help you gentlemen?"I asked my hand wrapped around Yvonne's waist.

"We saw you dancing and thought we might join you. No use being alone at such an event."Creep two replied.

Honestly there was nothing wrong with them. They were both tall, handsome, dressed in suits and probably had more money than I could dream of. Only one problem, they were probably well in their forties with wedding rings on.

"What will the wives and kids think?"Yvonne asked looking at their hands noticing the same thing I had.

"What they don't know won't hurt them."Creep one replied confidently.

"You see that the difference between us. I wouldn't want to share my wife with the likes of you so please leave. Right babe?"I asked Yvonne turning to look at her.

She looked at me and smiled understanding what I was playing at.

"I'm all yours my love."She declared linking our hands together.

I kissed her cheek and turned to the two men who were staring at us in shock.

"You two are together?"Creep one chocked out.

"Yes married and everything."Yvonne smiled holding up her left hand.

Mine was hidden on her back so they couldn't see it.

"But that's illegal. You can't be married to each other."Creep two yelled.

"Says you and this government but there are places for people like us to get married and be in love."I replied confidently.

I turned to the table to see Hunter and Francis staring at us. They wouldn't approach until we were directly in danger because for the moment we had control of the situation.

"I don't believe it."Creep one declared.

"That's up to you. It's not our responsibility to prove you right or wrong. Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to dance with my wife."I declared already done with the conversation.

"You're just pretending to throw us off."Creep one scoffed.

"Well then that's to show just how much we don't need you."Yvonne retorted."But since like all men you need proof, here you go."Yvonne replied turning to face me.

She looked at my eyes then at my lips and I immediately understood what she wanted.

Sure I wanted them to leave us alone but was I willing to go as far as to kiss Yvonne. I'd never kissed a girl before. Would this be taking it too far?

"Trust me."She whispered lowly enough so only I could hear.

I turned to look at the guys who were looking at us in disbelief torn between believing us or deeming us fakes. I turned back to face Yvonne who was smiling at me. I couldn't fail her and the web of lies we had spun together. Girls for girls till the end.

You only live once right.

And with that thought in mind I cupped Yvonne's face and kissed her. Her lips tasted like the cherry flavored lip balm she had on. We didn't use tongue but it was a very sweet kiss that lasted a couple of seconds. We had to sell the story after all.

I pulled back first, kissed her nose then turned to the guys who were staring at us gobsmacked.

"Shit that's the hottest thing I've ever seen."Creep one declared.

"Me too. How about we make this a foursome?"Creep two suggested taking one step closer to us.

Shit! That's not the reaction we were hoping for.

"Are you dumb or what? We don't want you."Yvonne shouted sounding a little panicked.

"It's okay ladies, I'm sure we can come to an agreement."Creek one grinned reaching out to touch me.

I cringed and stepped back with Yvonne but he just moved closer. Just before he could touch me, someone behind me grabbed his hand and twisted it away from me making him yelp in pain.

"I think they said no."Hunter bellowed angrily stepping forward.

"Kariuki why are you causing a scene at my party?"Brian asked stepping around Yvonne to block the two men from us.

"S-Sir? We're sorry sir."Kariuki stuttered feeling cornered.

"Are you ladies okay?"Francis asked behind Yvonne.

She nodded and let go of me to step into his embrace.

"Can I break his arm?"Hunter asked twisting it further making him cry out again.

"Nothing would give me more pleasure than to say yes but I'll punish him my own way. It'll be much worse than physical pain. Let him go."Brian replied.

Hunter didn't release him but instead twisted his arm further. I placed my arm on his shoulder and stepped closer to him.

"Release him bear, we're okay."I said squeezing his arm.

Hunter relaxed and let go pushing him away from him.

"Kariuki, Patrick, get out of my sight. Eight am Monday morning my office."Brian bellowed.

"Yes sir."They saluted their bodies stiff in fear before they scurried away.

I was in awe of Brian commanding men ten years older than him with such authority. It was kind of hot but I would never tell him that.

Finally all three men turned to us with different expressions on their faces.

"Nala, trying to steal my wife I see?"Francis asked referring to the kiss.

"Yes so you better watch out, she's a great kisser."I replied with a smile.

"Awe, thank you babe. You're a good kisser too."Yvonne beamed grinning at me.

"Like seriously I think that was the hottest thing I've ever seen. Think you can do it again? For the birthday boy."Brian asked his hands clasped infront of him as if he was praying.

"No!"Hunter and Francis replied simultaneously before we could reply.

"Too bad but seriously if you ever do it again let me watch."Brian begged.

"Of course monkey, we'll include you."I agreed making him smile.

"Are you sure you're okay?"Francis asked us both.

"Yes, we're okay babe. Now can we go get more wine?"Yvonne replied.

"Okay we'll go. No more kissing my wife Nala."Francis demanded.

"I make no promises."I replied and just to mess with him I leaned in as if to kiss Yvonne.

She leaned in too but before our lips could meet she was pulled away and whisked into Francis' arms. He glared at me before carrying Yvonne back to the rest of the group.

"Buzz kill."Brian mumbled sounding disappointed as he followed them both.

Finally Hunter and I were left alone and I acknowledged him for the first time since they saved us. He was glaring at me his hands crossed over his chest. I glared back at him because as far as I was concerned, I had every right to be angry at him while he didn't.

We had a staring contest right there in the middle of the dancing floor that I refused to lose. Eventually Hunter realized that I wouldn't let him intimidate me this time so he sighed and looked away relaxing his stance. I did a victory dance in my head for winning the staring contest. I also needed him to speak first so I refused to say a word until he did.

I expected him to start with an explanation about Britney first but instead he took my hand and led me through the dancing bodies. We weren't going to have a serious conversation amidst dancing bodies so I let him pull me away. We ended up at the furthest corner of the rooftop where there were less people and the light was dimmer. Thankfully the music wasn't so loud there so we could talk without yelling.

As soon as we were a safe distance away I yanked my arm from Hunter's hold and stepped away from him leaning on the balcony's guard rail.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you everything about Britney."Hunter apologized looking at me with a forlorn look.

"Why did you lie? If she's your past then you should have been open to me about it. Lying and letting me find out that you guys used to sleep together makes me look like a fool. It also makes you look guilty as if you have something to hide and there's more between you and her."I replied.

"Baby no, there's nothing going on between us. She's my past from a very, very long time ago."Hunter defended.

"Then why did you lie?"I asked him needing an explanation.

Hunter looked at me and realized that I wouldn't let it go until I got an explanation.

"Because she's part of my past, a past that I regret. I wasn't always the respectable man you like and admire. When I first joined university I was proud, entitled and a womanizer. I was the worst version of myself and that's how Britney and I met. We were introduced by Brian and we hit it off. I wasn't looking for a relationship and neither was she so it was perfect. I had sex with other women and her but she was a regular. That was as far as our relationship went. It only lasted about a year then she moved to Canada and we didn't meet again until a few weeks before valentine's day. I'm sorry I lied but telling you the truth would have led to me admitting about that part of my life and I didn't want to scare you off yet."Hunter explained.

We all had our pasts that's for sure and I wouldn't judge Hunter for his but I wished he had been more upfront about it.

"What makes you think I won't run now?"I challenged Hunter.

"Because you're still here. Instead of running after you saw us together you stayed because you knew that we needed to talk about it. You also didn't make a scene or jump into conclusions. That's how I know you're going to stay."Hunter replied confidently.

He was right. I wasn't going anywhere but I still felt hurt by his lies.

"I am all yours baby girl, don't doubt that. You own me body, mind and soul. Britney is my past but you Nala, you're my future."Hunter declared stepping closer to me.

I was already at the edge so there was nowhere else for me to go. Hunter looked at my eyes and I could see the sincerity in his gaze. His words were powerful and honest too, pushing past my insecurities.

The strobe right closest to us turned to a red hue and my gaze wondered to an illuminated dark spot against Hunter's neck. It was one of the hickeys I had left on him after our early morning sex escaped. They had actually formed to hickeys and Hunter has showed them off proudly. Even when he went to the office he didn't wear a tie because he wanted everyone to see them. He was proud to be mine.

"I'm really sorry I lied baby."Hunter whispered finally getting to me and taking my hands in his.

I looked at our joined hands and realized that I couldn't be mad at him any longer. Not when he was genuinely sorry.

I looked into his eyes and smiled "I forgive you."

Hunter smiled back and pulled me into his arms.

"Thank you baby."He whispered kissing my hair as he hugged me tight.

I hugged him back feeling relieved that that our dark moment was over. I didn't like arguing with Hunter.

He pulled away after a minute and kissed me shortly as if thanking me for forgiving him.

"Now tell me what I should do to you for kissing my best friends wife?"He asked with a teasing smile.

"Admit that it was hot because we both know it was."I replied with a grin.

Hunter laughed but he nodded nonetheless agreeing with me.

"Yeah it was, you've made Brian's birthday."Hunter said.

"I didn't expect it but honestly it was kind of nice. She has very nice soft lips. Tiny but nice."I admitted.

"Don't get too attached, my lips are the only ones you should be thinking about."Hunter rasped out brushing his lips against mine.

"They are."I assured him.

I looped my hands around his neck keeping him in place as I kissed him hard. Hunter groaned and cupped my ass bringing me closer to him. His hard cock rubbed against my stomach and I moaned getting turned on.
