CHAPTER 7 : Pain and suffering
Tears gushed from Gabriella’s big blue eyes. She pleaded, trying to get Haze’s attention, but Quinn only dug the knife in harder.
“Did you stab Brook?” Quinn quizzed, tilting her hair, causing her purple hair to flip to the side. She shook her head. “Wrong answer,” she muttered, digging the knife in harder than ripping the gag down.
“I didn’t, I swear,” she sobbed. Sickness coiled my stomach at the blood leaking from her leg.
“Again, wrong answer”, laughed Quinn, humorously stabbing her again in the leg. Gabby was hysterical, crying for Haze. But Haze stood staring down the scene. That right there was pure and utter hatred.
“I want to know something else. Why did you want Story and me the night Brook was attacked” managed Quinn, cleaning the blood off her knife with her fingers.
” Be-because”, she stuttered, her cheeks tear-stained as she cried harder.
“I got told to by someone anonymous. They had a video of me sleeping with someone they were going to show you, and I wanted you back, Haze”, she cried directly to him. He laughed.
“Listen to me, you whore. I’d rather jump off a cliff than be even associated with you, let alone in your bed. You are nothing to me but a dirty little bitch who no one cares to know,” said Haze, then smirked. This cold and deadly smirk. It caused me to lean closer to Izack, who pulled me towards him, comforting me with a sweet kiss on my head.
“Well, thanks for having us, Gabby; we’ll let you go when Quinn’s had a bit more fun thanks for your time and remember, this shit stays between us; otherwise, fight club will be hunting you”, said Izack with a nod at Quinn. Gabriella started screeching again, petrified. Quinn shoved the gag into her mouth. We left the warehouse to the screams of Gabriella. I attempted to close my eyes. Sat in my apartment with the boys, Zack turned to me.
“I’m bored”, he stated, jumping up and beginning to dance aimlessly around the room.
“Let’s play a game”, I noted with a smile.
“Strip poker”, said Haze, putting his hand up with a grin. I rolled my eyes.
“Let’s play Twister,” said Zack, twerking, making me giggle. Everyone groaned.
“Yes, drunk Twister”, I laughed, running over to my stash of alcohol. Getting the vodka bottles and shot glasses, I smiled. “So, Twister” I beamed excitedly. A few hours later, I watched as Zack, Gage, and Forest twisted around each other. For no touching reasons, Tyler was the referee with me. I giggled as Haze climbed over Forest and did some backbends. The boys all laughed, falling on top of each other, all drunk and a little out of it. I smiled at them all. Never feeling so carefree for as long as I could remember. Fixing my hair, I smiled at the boys.
“Do you all want to stay tonight?” I asked, pinching myself. Why did I ask them that?
“Yessssss” cheered Izack loudly.
“Sure”, grinned Forest, his green eyes sparkling sweetly.
“Cool”, managed Gage, lost in thought.
“I’d love to”, smiled Haze, swigging more vodka. Turning to Tyler, I raised my eyebrow. He nodded, writing something down.
“Bagsy bed”, grinned Haze, turning to me and flicking his brown hair from his eyes with a giant killer smile my way.
“Fine, but no funny business”, I warned, wiggling my finger at him. He laughed and nodded.
“Yet”, called out Zack, jumping on the sofa and just lying there totally out of it. After saying good night to everyone, I cozied up next to Haze. He touched my face as I lay next to him, and my breath hitched.
“I’m sorry, Story, I'm so fucking sorry”, he whispered. I rested my nose against his and smiled.
“I forgive you, Haze”, I whispered, pressing my lips softly to his. He smiled at me. Waking up the following day, I turned to face Haze. He was fast asleep. I studied his beautiful face and smiled. He was stunning, I really liked watching him. He looked so sweet and innocent. Hearing mumbling, I sat up. Izack was groaning as he clutched his head. Forest and Gage were still fast asleep. Gage was snoring. Then there was Tyler.
Tyler sat in his beautiful three-piece suit, watching me with his beautiful, messy morning hair.
“You look very handsome,” I said with a smile. He studied me with his stormy grey eyes, and I gulped hard. We stared each other down.
“Okay, love birds”, moaned Izack, his baby blue eyes glowing with vibrance as he stood shirtless.
“Hey there, princess”, he grinned, wiggling his eyebrows. I rolled my eyes trying to hide my little smirk. Suddenly, the door knocked, and I rushed and opened it. Looking around, I saw no one, and that was when I found an envelope at the door. I opened the envelope, saw the image, and dropped to my knees, screaming my pain. My mom's body lay pooled on the floor in the picture, and underneath it read a bloody note.
'Don’t mess with what’s mine.'
My throat constricted and pain sliced through my heart at the body that lay. Her eyes were lifeless. Nothing left in them. No laughter. No happiness. No love. I saw her. A memory flashed through my mind. Her brushing my hair whilst asking me all the capitals in the world. I was so scared of failing my geography test she'd spoken to me for hours asked me all the questions. I'd never hear her voice again. I'd never feel her warm embrace as she told me things would be okay. My mom wasn't perfect but she was to me the most amazing person. I loved her more than life itself. In cold blood, someone had taken her life. Decided she shouldn't exist. That she shouldn't see her future grandchildren. Or get married or have more children. They'd taken her life to punish me. Because somehow I'd destroyed them. That's when I began to howl in agony. The reality was too much to bear.
