Chapter 5: A Special Plan
Bethany lowered her gaze, hiding the emotions in the depths of her eyes.
Seeing her silence, Clinton lost patience. "Bethany, you know I love you, but I can't spend my whole life as a widower. Besides, I'm the only child in my family, and my parents are counting on me to continue the family line. So, before we get married, I have to give them an explanation."
Finally, he spoke his mind.
Bethany fell silent for a moment, then stood up and said, "I understand. I'll handle it. You should rest early. I'll go home first."
Watching Bethany leave, Clinton's eyes revealed a sharp edge that he no longer concealed. He sank heavily into the sofa and made a phone call.
"Baby, that woman caught on to something fishy. Let's lay low for a while and not meet up recently. I'll come find you in a few days."
...
As soon as Bethany left the villa, she pulled out the piece of paper from her pocket and dialed the phone number on it, which connected quickly.
"Hello, who's this?"
Vincent's low, tired voice carried a hint of allure.
Bethany felt a bit nervous and didn't speak for a moment.
There was silence on the other end for a moment before the man firmly asked, "Ms. Campbell, is there something you need from me calling this late?"
Bethany was surprised. "How do you know it is me?"
Vincent replied softly, "Very few people know my private number, and you're the only unfamiliar caller."
Vincent wasn't one to give out contact information to just anyone.
Bethany was somewhat surprised but didn't dwell on it. "I've made up my mind. I want to ask for your help with my illness."
"My treatment plan is somewhat special. Can you accept it?" Vincent asked.
"What kind of special plan?" Bethany detected a subtle nuance.
There was the sound of a lighter igniting, and then Vincent's voice, husky from the cigarette, continued, "It's quite intense, involving intimate training between partners, but it won't go all the way."
Bethany understood what she meant.
Bethany imagined certain scenarios, and her face suddenly flushed red.
She considered herself not a conservative woman, but in the few years she'd been with Clinton, they hadn't even kissed, let alone slept together. Moreover, being trained by a man she had just met was simply too crazy.
But at the moment, she had no choice. Her health was paramount.
Bethany tightened her grip on the phone, her knuckles turning white. She said, "I trust your medical skills and ethics. So I accept the treatment."
Vincent acknowledged with a simple "Okay."
Bethany asked, "When should I come to the hospital to see you?"
Vincent replied, "I'm on a business trip, so I'm not sure when I'll be back in Klodon City."
Hearing this, Bethany furrowed her brow.
With the wedding just a month away, she was worried that there wouldn't be enough time if this dragged on.
Vincent seemed to understand her concerns and reassured her, "You don't need to worry about the timing. Even if we don't meet, the treatment can proceed."
Bethany was puzzled. "How?"
Vincent took a drag of his cigarette, his voice becoming even huskier. "I noticed the style of your underwear today by chance. It's too conservative, lacking any excitement for a man. You need to make a change."
Bethany's face grew even hotter.
It was late autumn, yet her palms were sweating, and her throat was starting to feel dry. "But it's late now, and the malls are closed. I'll go buy new ones tomorrow..."
"No need to wait until tomorrow," Vincent interrupted.
After a pause, he said, "Give me your address, and I'll have someone deliver them to you."
