Chapter 189: The Instigator Behind the Car Accident Is Quinn!

On the third day after Adrian woke up, he could already sit up against the pillows. His left arm was still in a cast.

Violet was peeling an apple. Adrian watched her lowered eyes.

"Violet, I've had someone check into the car accident from that night. The brakes and steering wheel both failed at the same time," Adrian said, looking serious.

Violet paused while peeling the apple and looked up at him. "Someone tampered with my car?"

"Yeah." Adrian's voice was still a bit hoarse. "I had them check the car's computer logs. The brake control unit got a malicious command sent to it two hours before the crash, and the power steering module was messed with at the same time."

Violet put the peeled apple on a plate, her face darkening. "It had to be someone close to me."

Adrian looked at her. "Who do you suspect?"

"My assistant, Jane," Violet said.

Adrian asked, "Do you have proof?"

"It all lines up too well. This time she went to my car to get some files. Last time my encrypted hard drive got wiped, it was her too." Violet set the plate on the nightstand. "We didn't have solid proof last time, but this time the car's computer logs should trace back to her device."

Adrian nodded. "I've already got the investigator on it. We should have results by this afternoon at the latest. Also, we pulled Quinn's call records. She made three unusual calls three days before the accident."

That afternoon, Adrian's private investigator dropped off the full report.

Jane's phone had connected to Violet's car system two hours before the crash. The signal pinned her exact location—she'd taken the day off.

"The evidence chain is solid," Adrian said, closing the file and looking at Violet. "Also, Quinn sent Jane two payments through separate accounts, but both ended up in the same overseas account."

Violet was quiet for a moment. "So what are you going to do?"

Adrian set the file back on the nightstand, his expression calm. "Call the police."

That evening, Sebastian sat in VelocityTech's conference room with a copy of the report spread out in front of him. His face was cold.

When Jane was called in, she still had her usual polite smile. "Mr. Morgan, you wanted to see me?"

Sebastian didn't waste time. He pushed the report across the table. "Explain this."

Jane glanced down at the papers. Her smile froze. Her lips moved. "Mr. Morgan, this is..."

"You don't need to explain it to me," Sebastian said, standing up. His tone was flat. "You can explain it to the police later."

Right then, the conference room door opened and two officers walked in.

Jane's face went completely white. She sat frozen in her chair like she couldn't move.

"Ms. Jane, you're suspected of involvement in a case endangering public safety. Please come with us to assist with the investigation."

Jane opened her mouth and denied it. "I didn't do anything!"

As the officers led her out, Jane suddenly turned her head and looked past Sebastian toward Violet standing in the corner. Her eyes were red. "Ms. Reed, I didn't mean to. I was forced. Ms. Quinn said if I did this one thing, she'd give me two million... My brother's sick and needs the money..."

Violet stood there and didn't say anything.

Jane's crying echoed down the hallway for a bit, then stopped when the elevator doors closed.

The conference room went quiet.

Sebastian walked over to Violet and patted her shoulder lightly. "It's not your fault."

Violet shook her head. "I know."

The next morning, Quinn was in the dressing room putting on her wedding dress.

Someone knocked twice, and Caleb walked in holding a glass of champagne. He leaned against the vanity and looked her over. "Nervous?"

Quinn watched him in the mirror but didn't answer.

Caleb handed her the champagne. "Relax. Once the wedding's over, the whole Adrian thing will be done with."

Quinn took a sip, still looking uneasy. "I just don't feel right. The police already picked up Jane."

Caleb was quiet for a second, then smiled and patted her shoulder. "She won't give you up."

The wedding venue was a manor by the sea.

Robert sat in the first row, looking unhappy.

Elsie sat beside him and said quietly, "It's already happened. Don't make that face."

Robert didn't answer, just clenched his fists on his knees.

Wells Industrial's stock had dropped a lot lately. Quinn and Caleb's wedding was the only thing that could steady things, but Caleb still wasn't a good choice.

Music started playing. Quinn took Robert's arm and walked slowly down the white aisle.

Right then, there was a commotion at the manor entrance.

Several police cars pulled up outside the wedding, their blue and red lights flashing.

Guests turned to look and started whispering.

Quinn stopped walking and looked down the long aisle. Her pupils shrank.

Adrian got out of the back seat of the first police car.

His left arm was still in a cast. He wore a dark gray coat, and his face looked pale from just recovering.

Four officers followed behind him.

The music stopped. Guests started standing up.

Elsie's face changed. Robert jumped up and stared at Adrian walking toward them.

"Adrian..." Quinn lifted her veil and took a step forward, her voice shaking. "What are you doing here?"

Adrian stopped in the middle of the aisle and looked at Quinn from a few meters away. His eyes were calm, almost blank.

"Quinn, you're suspected of planning an attempted murder. The police need you to come in for questioning."

Quinn's face went completely white.

"What... what are you saying..." Her voice trembled. "Adrian, today's my wedding—"

Adrian didn't answer. He took the full report from his coat pocket and handed it to the officer beside him.

The lead officer stepped forward, showed the arrest warrant, and said loudly and clearly, "Ms. Quinn, you're suspected of attempted murder, inciting a crime, forging medical documents, and other charges. Please come with us."

The whole place erupted in shock.

Robert's legs gave out and he fell back into his chair. Elsie shouted, "You've got it wrong! This is all a misunderstanding!"

But Elsie was stopped by the security nearby.

Caleb rushed over from the other side of the altar and stood in front of Quinn. "Why are you arresting her? Do you have proof?"

Adrian turned to Caleb, his tone flat. "Caleb, you're suspected of attempted rape. The police have new evidence on you too. You're not walking away clean today."

Caleb's face went white too.

Two officers came forward and grabbed Caleb's arms on both sides.

Caleb struggled a bit but was held down.

Quinn stood there in her white wedding dress, her lips shaking so much she could barely speak. She looked at Adrian, tears filling her eyes. "Adrian, do you really hate me that much? You had to humiliate me at my own wedding?"

Adrian didn't answer her question. He just said calmly, "Quinn, the law will give you your answer."

He turned and walked toward the exit.

After a few steps, Adrian stopped at the end of the aisle, turned his head, and looked through the crowd nearby.

Violet stood under a ginkgo tree, quietly watching him through the guests' stares.

Their eyes met.

Adrian walked over to Violet. When he stood in front of her, the wind blew some of her loose hair across her face.

He raised his hand and tucked her hair behind her ear with his uninjured hand.

"Let's go," Adrian said quietly.

Violet looked into his eyes and nodded. "Okay."

They walked out side by side. Violet stayed half a step behind him, her hands at her sides.

After a couple steps, Adrian reached out with his right hand and took hers.

She tried to pull away but couldn't, so she let him hold it.

Adrian held her fingers, not too tight, but firmly.

Violet glanced at him sideways. His face was still pale, and his jaw was a bit tense.

"Adrian," Violet said. "Doesn't your hand hurt?"

"It does," Adrian said.

Then he turned to look at her, a smile in his eyes. "But I'm afraid you'll run off."
