Chapter 84
Dylan point of view
The instant I stepped into the mansion, her scent was everywhere. The intense, stabbing hunger ate through my insides.
I rushed quickly to my office, shutting the door.
"I felt it... your growls." Celeste was seated, waiting for me. Her eyes widened when she met mine. "You don't look good. What's happened?" I exhaled, taking my seat. I explained to her everything I had been feeling and my need for my very own mate's blood.
Celeste inhaled after hearing me silently. "You can't cheat nature, Dylan. If you want to feed from your mate, then do it. It's nature, and you are a vampire. One thing you should know is you'll never hurt her."
I knew it. Somewhere deep down, I knew this would be Celeste's own thoughts, just like Morgan's and Travis's.
And I understood it all. But I guess what scared me more was not being able to stop the moment I got a taste of her sweet blood. What if I wouldn't be able to stop? What if I killed my mate? What if—
I growled, watching the fading back of Celeste as she left my office. There I remained stationed for hours. I wasn't doing anything, lost in my own darkness.
I heard a knock on the door.
"Not now, please," I groaned, hoping whoever was knocking would at least have the decency not to disturb me again, but the knock came again. Now that wolf was seriously going to get it.
The door was pulled open.
"Seriously, Dylan. When do you plan on telling me exactly what's going on with you?" came the most appealing voice ever. My mate.
I pinched the skin in between my forehead, containing myself. "Not now, please," I whispered, but she could hear me.
"Not now for what?"
I heard her voice move closer. My eyes shut tight. I started struggling, fighting with myself... that deep urge to get a taste of her blood.
I could hear the angelic beating of her heart. The amazing manner her blood pumped; I could now taste the sweet way her red, enchanting blood would feel in my mouth.
No! No! This couldn't happen.
Gunther was trying to subdue me, but this urge for her blood was far much stronger.
Then her hand touched me. I knew I had lost myself to that desire, craving her blood.
My eyes pushed open. I stared deep into her blue, chanting eyes. she had a shocked gaze.
"Your eyes..." she trailed off, not moving from her spot even after she saw those shining red eyes of mine. This indicated I had fully inclined to my vampire side.
"Dylan, what's happening?"
She wanted answers I couldn't give now. All I wanted was her blood.
I got up from my chair, following her gaze. My eyes were now falling on her exposed, soft neck. So flawless and white. Its sight was too tempting to look away from.
Her hands then surprised me, cupping my cheeks while caressing them softly. Her blood pumping in her veins echoed in my ears; I could hear her bloodstream. My fangs slowly began extending. My eyes shined more deadlily, and my gaze never left her neck.
As I was about to dive my fangs into her delicate, soft, white neck, her soft lips engulfed mine in a kiss.
My fangs retracted the moment my lips felt hers. My lips moved with the deep, slow motion her lips walked on mine. I started kissing back. It was deep and filled with so much passion. I kissed her back with everything I had; I wasn't in control of even my feelings.
Instantly, she pushed away. Before I could register what happened, blood flowed from her lips.
Fucking hell! I bit her.
My eyes shined red, then turned amber, and red again. I was fighting off the new arousal her blood left in my mouth.
I couldn't believe I hurt her. I stepped far away from her in regret. I hurt her.
Aderyn's blue eyes followed mine, moving closer to me.
"No. Leave! I don't want to hurt you," I yelled through my clenched throat.
"And why would you, Dylan?" She stepped closer to me daringly, her soft hands cupping my face. She wiped off the trail of blood from my lips.
"I can't hold it much longer," I gritted out, staring at her through my red eyes.
"Then don't." She pecked my lips again. Her soft lips pressed against mine. She was doing something—I didn't know what—but it was magic. My eyes slowly turned back to normal. I felt normal, but the hunger was still there, only subdued for now.
I breathed in relief, hugging her tightly. "I'm sorry," I whispered to her.
"What's wrong?" she queried, and I sighed.
"The truth, Dylan," Aderyn demanded with blue, searching eyes.
I told her everything.
"That's it?" she asked, as if what I said wasn't grave enough. "That's why you've been avoiding me?" she attacked again.
I was confused. Wasn't this reason enough? Through my perplexed state, I could feel that shameless wolf grinning at the back of my mind like a lovesick puppy.
'She's pissed we ignored her all this while.'
I ignored him.
I focused on what she was saying instead. "I thought you..." she trailed off. "...forget it."
Now that she said to forget it, I just couldn't. What did she want to say?
"You thought I..."
"It's not important. So what you need now is to feed, right? My blood." Her words startled me, but not as much as her actions.
Aderyn pulled her straight brown hair to her side, giving me access to her delicate neck.
I stared at her as if saying, 'You are kidding, right?'
"No, I'm not, Dylan."
I was ajar. Was she seriously offering herself to me? Didn't she get the part where I might lose control and kill her?
"You won't hurt me, Dylan," she replied.
Was she like reading my thoughts now?
"No, I can't read you. Your expression gives it away." She almost smirked. That was sexy.
I face-palmed myself, getting my focus back away from how sexy my mate looked when she smirked.
"No, Aderyn. I might not be able to stop."
She smiled. "Don't you think I'm well capable of making you stop if you refuse to?"
"I don't doubt that," I told her. "I don't trust myself."
She ran her fingers through my hair, arousing me and the hunger.
I felt it now, growing. It was back for her blood.
"Dylan, relax. Trust me if you don't trust yourself. You won't hurt me," she said with so much confidence.
Inasmuch as I did not trust myself, I had no choice. I knew this hunger wouldn't go away—not until I fed from my mate.
I grabbed her by the waist, pulling her so close to me that she stumbled onto my chest, looking me in the eyes. I teleported us to her room, her eyes never leaving mine.
My hold on her tightened as I fought the fear from my nightmares.
"You're sure about this?" I whispered over her lips, as she gasped a little and nodded.
A tingling spark of electricity fused at the close contact of our bodies. I felt the sensation surging through my body; she could feel this too.
"If it's hurting, and I refuse to stop—"
"Smack your ass out of my room?" she cut me off, chuckling. Her warm breath invaded my nose, enchanting me.
I chuckled. "You could do that, too."
My face was inches from hers. We stood on our feet, gazing into each other's eyes for a second. Then I broke the silence. "I'm coming in."
My lips kissed her lips first, slowly implanting kisses on her skin. I smiled at the lovely, soft moans that escaped her sweet lips. I couldn't help but smile at the way my soft kisses and touch affected her. Now I wished more than ever she was mine, and that I had my mark on her so that everyone would know I was fortunate to have such a beautiful and loving mate. I kept on with the kisses while moving to her neck. I kissed her neck and sucked on her soft spot, slowly taking my time. I felt her hold on my shirt. She moaned silently again.
After placing several kisses, I licked her neck, my body resonating with the sound of her blood pumping in her veins.
My fangs extended, settling on her skin. I held her waist tightly, piercing through her skin. Her hold on my shirt tightened before she released it again.
I dived deeper into her skin, feeling the warm liquid that rushed into my mouth. It was divine.
I sucked in, drinking more of her blood. I moaned at the pleasuring taste that covered my tongue. I had never tasted anything this delicious before. There was no human blood I had tasted that could compare to this sweet taste and the satisfactory feeling I felt. She was just mine.
Aderyn moaned again in pleasure. I kept on piercing deeper, sucking her blood.
Then her hold tightened. She didn't say a word, but I could tell I had gone too deep.
I tried stopping but couldn't.
'Stop, human!' Gunther growled in my head, protective of our mate. 'You've gone too deep,' he snarled.
I knew he was speaking the truth, but I couldn't just pull my fangs out of her skin. I couldn't stop drinking from her.
'Stop, Dylan!' Gunther boomed in my head, about to kill. 'You'll kill her!'
'Dylan!' I snapped at myself, instantly pulling my fangs out of her neck. I licked her wound closed, holding her tightly.
"Aderyn." I helped her regain balance. She had lost a lot of blood because of me.
"See. You could stop all by yourself." She smiled weakly as I placed her on the bed, covering her.
"You need rest." I kissed her forehead, resting next to her. Guilt and anger at myself consumed me.
"It was sheer luck I stopped. Gunther was growing mad," I said honestly.
'Mad?' Gunther huffed in my head. 'I would have killed you if anything happened to her,' he threatened. I rolled my eyes.
"But you stopped regardless," she said weakly.
"But what if I didn't?"
"Well, we'll have to work on that next time." I looked at her, confused.
"What do you mean by 'next time'?"
"You know exactly what I meant, Dylan."
"I could have killed you?" I was surprised she still spoke of next time after I just admitted I almost lost control.
"But you didn't. You should remember that instead of the fact you almost lost control," she said.
I opened my mouth to speak, but she stopped me with her finger on my lips, chuckling weakly.
"Enough of that! I want to sleep already."
I smiled. "Fine, princess. Good night." I kissed her forehead so tenderly. She drifted into sleep.
I stayed with her for some while before going to my room. I noticed the door of my office was open. I clearly remembered it was locked when Aderyn and I left.
I went in to find my new enemy sitting casually on my office chair.
I fumed in rage. "What the fuck do you think you are doing in here, you mutt?"
