Chapter 9: CHAPTER 9
CHAPTER NINE
Kieran’s POV
The first thing I felt when I woke up was warmth and this is so satisfying. A body pressed against mine, her perfect curves clung around me .
Eva.
The scent of honey and vanilla clung to my sheets, a reminder of the hot round of sex we had. I tried opening my eyes but I closed it back, sunlight slipping through the heavy curtains, casting a golden glow to the bedsheets.
Eva stirred beside me, her blonde hair spilling across the pillow, her lips slightly parted in sleep.
It should have been satisfying.
But the moment I finally opened my eyes, a familiar growl rumbled in the back of my mind.
“Cheating bastard.”
I sighed. Kaelith . My wolf. Always the moral one, always reminding me of the one thing I refused to accept. The truth
“You smell of another woman,” Kaelith spat in disgust. “You have a mate, and you defile our bond every time you touch her. You're a cheating Alpha”
I clenched my jaw.
Sienna.
I forced the name out of my head, shaking off the uncomfortable twist in my gut.
“She’s the daughter of a murderer,” I reminded him coldly again. “She doesn’t deserve to be my mate.”
“You’re lying to yourself.”
“Shut up,” I snapped, silencing him.
The bond was nothing. A cruel joke played by the Moon Goddess. Making Eva my mate would have been so perfect.
I forced myself out of bed, moving away from Eva’s arms. The sheets drawled down her ass, exposing her bare back. She sighed in her sleep but didn’t wake as I slipped on my sweatpants and walked toward the bathroom.
I washed my face, staring at my reflection in the mirror. My jaw was tense, my grey eyes darkened with thoughts I refused to voice.
Why did I feel so… empty?
I shook my head and left the bathroom, walking out into my living room.
\~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The scent of expensive wood and leather filled the air, just the way I have always dreamt of having my living room. My living room was massive, a testament to the wealth I had built over the years. A chandelier hung from the high ceiling, it wasn't giving the perfection the room needed but it does that better at night.
Black and gold furniture decorated the space, each piece carefully chosen to show both sophistication and elegance. A massive fireplace stood at the far end of the room, its fire burning intensively but slow . The walls were lined with bookshelves and artifacts from my travels— Just perfect for an Alpha who loves books and who loves elegance.
I walked over to the dining area, grabbing a bottle of water from the bar. Twisting the cap off, I took a long sip, letting the cold liquid soothe the dryness in my throat.
The sound of approaching footsteps made me turn. I could sense it was Damian
Damian. Not surprised
My Beta. My right-hand man.
He walked in, his expression hard as always. Dressed in black jeans and a fitted shirt, he carried the weight of a man who had seen too much, done too much. His dark eyes moved to me briefly searching for any hurt but I didn't give room for questions. He finally settled into his usual blank stare.
“The Council is waiting,” he announced, his tone sharp and straightforward. “They called for a meeting.”
I ran a hand through my hair, sighing. “So early?”
Damian crossed his arms. “It’s urgent.”
I could tell from his tone that he wasn’t exaggerating. The Council rarely called for meetings unless something important had happened.
I knew this was about Sienna and that made me worried me a little.
I nodded and was about to respond when another voice cut through the room.
“Good morning, Damian.”
Eva.
I turned as she emerged from the bedroom, wrapped in nothing but my robe, her blonde hair scattered, her bare legs visible from beneath the fabric. Her voice was sweet.
Damian didn’t even acknowledge her. His gaze remained on me, as if she didn’t exist.
Eva’s smile faltered.
She cleared her throat, stepping closer to me. “Your Beta never seems to like me.”
Damian turned on his heel and walked out without another word.
What the hell is wrong with him?
I sighed before focusing on Eva
Eva scoffed. “See? He acts like I’m invisible.”
I chuckled, setting the bottle down. “Don’t mind him. He’s always like that.”
She folded her arms, pouting. “Well, it’s annoying. I am your girlfriend, you know?”
I stiffened slightly at the word. Girlfriend.
She wasn’t. Not really.
But I didn’t correct her.
Instead, I leaned in, brushing a hand down her arm. “Ignore him,” I said smoothly. “Damian only cares about business. He doesn’t do pleasantries.”
She sighed but nodded, leaning into my touch.
I glanced at the door where Damian had disappeared.
Whatever the Council wanted, I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be good.
It's either they want Sienna dead or they want her to be killed. I know the dark moon pack would never want their prey to go scot-free. Sienna's father had destroyed them and now it's their time to destroy everything that belongs to him too.
And for some reason… This girl with emerald eyes has refused to leave my thoughts.
Sienna.
I pushed the thought away and tried to organize my thoughts.
If the people want her dead then I have no choice. I have made my promise to them to destroy Darius' lineage. I wouldn't betray my pack for a mere girl.
“Babe, are you even listening to me? Eva tapped me, her big sexy eyes boring into mine.
Oh shit! Lost focus again
“I'm listening to you baby “ I answered with a big lie. I wasn't listening at All, my mind was just on the meeting ahead.
I sighed for the upteenth this morning.
The final decisions remains with me.
Well, I don't care
I just hope she survives whatever was coming.
Either Death or Death.
