Chapter 56: Business end for a new beginning

Alessandro

The news of my son was a seismic shift in my soul. It was no longer an abstract concept of an heir, a continuation. It was a boy. A son I would teach, protect, and love. A son I would never let the shadows touch.

That revelation, the sheer force of it, propelled me into action. While Bianca rested after our morning together,a memory that would fuel me for a lifetime I retreated to my study.

The world outside our sanctuary was still a threat. My father's legacy, the one built on blood and fear, was not the inheritance I wanted for my son. I wanted him to be safe to grow up in a world where he can run things and be in charge and not have to worry about somebody attacking him or his family in the near future. Everything changes when you find out that one heartbeat has changed everything, including how you view the world.

I opened the secure laptop, the screen illuminating the dark-paneled room. For years, I had been strategically diversifying, pulling capital out of Italy and the more volatile European markets. The foundation was already laid. Now, it was time to bring down the final curtain. I just didn't know that the resort that was given to me as a gift what's come in handy one day and at the moment it seems to be our only saving grace when it comes to this family's name and reputation.

My focus was South Africa. A nation of stark contrasts, immense opportunity, and, most importantly, a vast ocean of distance from the ghosts of Milan. Through a series of complex holding companies and shell corporations, I began the final transfer. Real estate holdings in Cape Town, a majority stake in a Johannesburg-based tech security firm, mineral rights, vineyards in the Western Cape all of it was being recalibrated and consolidated under a new, impenetrable umbrella. DeSanti Morena .

I was building a new empire, not on the bones of my enemies, but on the promise of my son's future. Every keystroke, every encrypted transfer, was a brick in the fortress I was constructing for my family.

Hours passed. The afternoon sun shifted across the floor of my study, marking time I barely noticed. I signed the final document, the digital signature sealing the fate of my father's life's work. A profound and unexpected emptiness opened inside me. It wasn't regret. It was a funeral. I had just buried the Desanti legacy as the world knew it.

I walked to the window, looking out at the city that had been my family's domain for generations. I saw the ghosts in the streets—my father, my uncles, all the grim-faced men who had come before me. I had spent my life becoming the most powerful of them all, only to deliberately dismantle it all.

A single, traitorous tear escaped, tracing a hot path down my cheek. Then another. I didn't sob; I simply stood there, silent and still, as the weight of a century of history crumbled from my shoulders and turned to dust at my feet.

I didn't hear her enter, but I felt her. Bianca's warmth pressed against my back, her arms wrapping around my waist, her hands splaying over my chest, right over my pounding heart.

"I'm letting it all go, Bianca," I whispered, my voice ragged. "Everything my father built. Everything I was raised to protect. I feel like a failure."

She turned me gently to face her. Her eyes, those deep, knowing pools, held no judgment, only infinite understanding.

"You're not letting it go, my love. You're transforming it. You're building something stronger. Something that won't poison our son. I could have easily said that I didn't want to be with you and leave you ho go high and dry but I didn't so I need you to trust the process."

She saw the tear tracks on my face and didn't wipe them away. Instead, she rose on her toes and kissed them, her lips soft and healing. Her kiss moved from my cheek to my jaw, and finally, to my mouth. It was not a kiss of pity, but of fierce, undeniable passion.

A groan ripped from my chest. The grief and tension inside me shattered, transforming into a raw, desperate need. I claimed her mouth, my hands tangling in her hair, pulling her flush against me. This was my truth now. Not the empire, not the legacy. Her.

"I need you,so badly I just need to feel something anything that can make me forget ."

I growled against her lips, my hands moving to the buttons of her dress. "Right now."

"Then take me,I'm here right now amore"

she challenged, her eyes blazing with the same fire that consumed me.
