Chapter. XXXIX-2

My heart lost its rhythm from how rapidly it was banging against my chest. I stared at an unfamiliar man with bright blue eyes and dark hair.. A man dressed in a light gray suit and a white button up shirt that was bloody in the middle.. The large dark red stain made me stare at it for a few seconds as he spread his arms and allowed me to look. "Feel free to explore your territory." He grinned and I frowned. "Adam.." "Smart girl. Got my name on the first try." I was about to ask what his arrogant ass did with Christian, but my throat was dry and no matter how much I tried masking the sudden fear that washed over me, I knew he could hear my rapid heartbeat. I just.. I couldn't understand. It was Christian that walked in. What- how? How was any of it real?! "What do you want?!" I managed to ask as harshly as possible but nothing seemed to wipe away the confidence off his face. "Wouldn't it be more fun to leave you guessing?" He took a step closer and I tried walking backwards but it was impossible with the counter basically at the dip of my spine. I glued myself against it. He left me speechless. I had a lot of things to say, but I was still voiceless. My mouth opened and closed. I stared at bright blue eyes that seemed so damn familiar. Eyes of nothing but pure evil. "Why- why are you here?" I tried again, but that only made him smirk, like he enjoyed hearing the dread that slipped in my voice. "Oh well that's easy. And pretty simple, if you ask me.." He closed up on me and was now right there in front of me, making me tighten my hands around the sheet, which just made him simply pull on one of my hands and take it in his. I tried pulling it away, but he simply focused on playing with fingers while he ran his thick bloody ones between them. I could barely breathe. I- I couldn't understand a thing.. I had no clue what was going on. "I'm asking you, what do you want?!" I finally pulled my hand away and now he just seemed annoyed with me. He almost rolled his eyes like I was the crazy one. "Firstly, Lana, lower your tone. Secondly, I do like to keep my enemies desperate for answers and when I give those answers, I long to see that priceless surprise on your faces." He closed up on me a bit more, and I felt like I would faint because I was holding my breath the whole time while he refused to give me any space. "But for now, I just need you." With that said, I was already feeling the anger boiling at my very core, making me push back on him with one hand, like I had put all my strength in it, enough to release myself a bit and start rushing towards the door. I went for the knob and I grabbed it but the escape seemed way too easy to be real.. I felt an arm wrapping around my waist from behind and a simple pull back was enough for him to take full control. I heard a screech. I heard a yell. It was all me. And the last word I heard myself shout was 'Christian!' Like having freezing water poured over me, my muscles tensed as I jumped up, jerking my body in a sitting position and inhaling the air like I had been holding it for hours. My eyes went wide open and my heartbeat refused to slow down as I felt it in my throat. I was breathing as harshly as to hear myself almost sob, yet there were no tears but simple cut breaths that I couldn't control. I realized I was on something soft and bouncy, the air was warm and the surroundings were familiar.. I felt something brush over the side of my arm and I jumped back, unable to focus on anything but the buzzing in my ears.. That loud annoying buzzing that was dominating me whole. As the buzzing turned into a faint pitch sound, I somewhat focused on my sight, and while moving around like I was struggling for air, I realized I was sitting down on a bed, but my mind was racing so quickly that I couldn't find my way back to reality yet. Not until I turned my head slightly and realized that strong arms pulled me on the side, a familiar scent filling my lungs and most importantly, the sudden realization of it all being a dream hitting me.. I was still somewhat struggling to move away, and when I did, I looked back at a pair of pitch dark eyes that were as familiar to me as to instantly sooth my very soul. Christian. God, it was really him. The night terror was shaking me whole while he held me tightly against himself, running a hand over my hair, over my back, allowing me to feel his heartbeat against his chest, to feel his sharp scent flood my senses and push me back to reality. He was saying things to me that I only became aware of when I came to some consciousness, when my hearing somewhat got back to normal. "Lana," Hearing him say my name, feeling his breath against my hair.. It calmed those darkest and coldest fears, somewhat erasing the reason of panic, and allowing me to focus on that moment only. "Hey, baby, it's me.. Shh, it's me." My breath could not steady still.. I couldn't find my voice. I only found the strength to somewhat wrap my arms around his neck and lean closer to him, burying my face at the crook of his neck and feeling how tightly he held me against himself, how soothingly he ran his hand down my back and how gently he kissed the top of my head. "I'm here, darling. It's just a bad dream." He repeated and I felt myself relaxing.. I went from a nightmare to another and I still wasn't sure if it was reality, but Christ, I couldn't help but feel soothed in his arms. His shoulders and arms were tight from his muscles, his bare skin silky against mine, and his arms preforming that perfect hold that allowed me to start breathing again.. I felt him move slightly, placing one arm over my lower back just so he could pull me closer, tighter.. His face was now near mine, near my neck as he inhaled as deep as I did.
