Chapter 67

Chapter 67
"I'm kidding," he added, and before we could react, "he's magic, obviously he'll know."

We all stared at him incredulously, lost for words.

"Why are you literally five years old?" Asmodeus deadpanned Kade, but he just looked back confused.

"Who's gonna tell him?" Savannah asked, holding back her laughter.

"Tell me what?" He pushed. Jessica sighed and patted Kade on the shoulder as we all collectively decided to drop it.

When the bell rang signaling the end of lunch, we all gathered our belongings and made our way from the table. Asmodeus walked a little in front of me, and I couldn't help but feel bad. He didn't deserve to have all this shit happen to him. I mean, ya, he was kind of an asshole- but that happened after his life got fucked up the ass by the universe.

Looking forward to after school, I continued on with my day. Though I was no longer happy-go-lucky. Eh, whatever. It was getting old anyway in my opinion.

When the final bell of the day rang, I made my way to the back parking lot, and found his black sports car. I had been driven to school by Josie that day, so I wouldn't have to pick my car up at the school after.

I arrived at his car before he did, so I just leaned against it and pulled out my phone. People passing by seemed to be eyeing me up and down, confused as to why I was standing by Asmodeus's car in an almost disapproving way.

I simply looked back at them all with an equally disapproving expression. Freaks.. I saw Asmodeus approaching from a distance and subtly admired him.

As he approached me I looked back down at my phone to look ~mysteriously uninterested and cool~.

"Are you gonna get in orrr," he prompted. I snapped my head up, realizing that he had already gotten in the car and rolled the window down to get me. So much for being cool.

Getting in the car, the familiar smell washed over me. I'm telling you, something about his scent just hit different. It always brought butterflies to my stomach.. as well as the desire to secretly steal a sweatshirt of his.

"Can we swing by my house first so I can drop my stuff off?" I asked, knowing it's not too much out of the way.

"What's in it for me?" He replied. I knew he wasn't serious, though, because he already had taken the turn toward my house.

"The luxury of spending time with me," I answered.

"Oh, great," he humored, turning onto my street. When we pulled up to my house, I noticed my mom's car wasn't there.

"You can come in for a sec if you want," I offered. He took the keys out of the ignition and followed me out of the car and up to my house.

"Is your mom here?" He asked.

"Nope."

"Good," he responded, and before I could question him I felt his arms around my hips throwing me over his shoulders- my bag falling to the ground.

"Asmodeus put me the hell down right f-u-c-kin now!!" I screamed and tried to wriggle my way out of his grasp. I couldn't help but squeal as he walked and I felt like I was going to fall forward.

He put me down on the couch and I laughed from the little adrenaline rush I got as I fell down on it. He climbed over me, sporting a dazzling smirk.

"Sure thing," he responded and I rolled my eyes while grinning.

I reached my hands up and placed them on the back of his neck, bringing his head down and mine up to meet our lips.

My stomach was still as on fire as it was the first time we kissed, and I had to fight the urge to break it by smiling. He gently bit my bottom lip as his hand slid up the side of my body from my thigh, gripping my waist.

He moved to start kissing my neck and I bit my lip as I took it all in. God damn this boy was good.

My breathing shuddered as he felt up under my shirt with his large, warm hand. He squeezed along my waist and then rested just below my breast on my ribs. I knew he was waiting for me to tell him he could, so I grinned into the kiss and reached to bring his hand up the final small distance. I heard a low noise of desire rumble in his chest as he squeezed gently, and one naturally sounded from me as well. Between his hands feeling me up and his lips on my neck, I couldn't help but bite my lip and breath out his name. He held me tighter at the sound of it.

I let out a small involuntary mo-an as he started kissing along my collar bone. I felt through his hair with my hands and pressed my body closer to his.

"Why are you so good at this?" I breathed out as his hand moved to wrap around the side of my neck.

"Because I'm good at everything," he grinned against my skin.

"Doubt it," I teased, and he brought his lips back above mine, hovering a few inches from me.

"Wanna bet?" His voice was low, and I bit my lip, feeling my hands down from his hair to his neck as his right hand slowly slid to my stomach, his fingers tracing along the line of my leggings. My breath hitched.

"Kinda," I admitted and he chuckled, reconnecting our lips. My hands traveled down his back, gripping his shirt.

This went on for a few more moments before I heard the front door being unlocked.

"Shit," I swore as we pulled apart and frantically tried to fix our appearance. The fact that we were both out of breath wasn't really playing in our favor, though.

My mom entered, and when she looked over at us a strong emotion flickered through her eyes.

"Crystal, y-you're back," she said, joy and regret sharing custody of her expression. I looked down at the ground before standing up.

"No, I'm not," I snarled and pulled Asmodeus up from off the couch, guiding him over to the door. I blew by my mom, who was still holding groceries.

I slammed the door shut as we left the house and held back the tears from coming.

"Crystal," Asmodeus said from behind me.

"What??" I asked exasperated, not wanting to talk about it. He cracked a smile at my intense reaction.

"Your hair," he pointed and grinned. I felt my hair and realized how messed up it was. I started laughing and he came over to me. He draped an arm around my shoulder while chuckling and led me back over to the car.

"Hey, you look even crazier than I do right now," I defended after we got in, referencing his Einstein-esque hair.

"Doubt that," he replied and I hit his arm, letting out a chuckle as he pulled out of my driveway and began to drive to his house.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" He asked after a few moments.

"No not really," I felt my heart hurt as he asked, but I appreciated it nonetheless. We carried on in comfortable silence before arriving at his house.

"I'm picking the movie this time," he told me as we got out of his car and walked up to the door. I saw his face grow concerned as he grabbed the door knob. "It's unlocked."

I furrowed my brows in confusion and he did the same. He opened the door relatively slowly and walked in, looking around and calling out to Jake.

I saw him freeze completely as he looked in his living room, his whole body tensing and tears immediately being brought to his eyes as his confused expression grew in intensity.

I followed his gaze over to the couch, where a girl who appeared to be slightly younger than us sat with Jake, looking up at Asmodeus with tears in her eyes.

She stood up and smiled emotionally as tears began to fall down her rosy cheeks. Confused as all holy hell, I looked back over at Asmodeus, who looked like he was both seeing a ghost and witnessing a miracle. His voice cracked as he spoke-

"L-Layla..?"
