Chapter 84 Chapter Eighty-Four

Chapter 84 Chapter Eighty-Four
Chapter Eighty-Four
🪯🪯🪯
                Mirah

What the hell was he going on about?

“Me?” I repeated.

“We predicted that Tyler had plans to sacrifice you to the Source one way or the other. And we planned to stop that, even though our method was crude-” He was saying, when I cut him off.

“But you all watched as he tried to sacrifice me. Without doing anything.” I added with a sneer.

“About that, it was an observation on our part.” Roanna put in, and my nose flared as I faced her.

“No one was talking to you. We have scores to settle.”

She pursed her lips, but didn't say a word.

“You aren't a normal human. You should've deduced that by now.” Xavier was now looking at Zeke.

“Except you chose to ignore it.”

My head felt heavy, ‘cause I sure as hell didn't understand any of his words.

“What do you mean by that? Months ago, I didn't even know that any supernatural world existed!” I wanted him to see how ridiculous his assumption was.

“The Source rejected your essence, Mirabella. And your mate here knows what happened.” Zeke's uncle faced him, as if daring him to refute.

I moved away from Zeke who was behind me. His expression was bland.

“Is there something I should know about? And mate? What mate?” I questioned, my voice lowering to a whisper.

A part of me hoped that whatever he was about to say, wouldn't break my heart.

I'd been lied to so many times in the past.

So many fucking times, that I'd lost count.

“Mirah, it's quite complicated.” Zeke sighed.

“But it involves me.” I argued.

“Can’t you guys see that he's trying to buy our trust? Make us lower our guard? I can't believe any word he says.” Natasha said that moment, and I paused, turning sharply to face Xavier.

She was right. He was the villain.

At least, one of the villains.

Xavier winced. “I never planned to kill any of you. I promise you that everything I've done was for a reason.” He sighed.

“Nice try, but that isn't enough to change anything.” Qyle put in, in that characteristic cold voice of his.

Xavier faced Queen Belinda.

“You should know the truth.” He arched his eyebrow.

Queen Belinda regarded him for a moment, before exhaling.

“I didn't think things would turn out this way. It didn't happen in the previous lifetimes.” She said in a small voice.

I heard Zeke groan behind me.

“What’s she talking about?” I asked.

“Let’s all go back. We need to be seated before having this discussion.” She said, her shoulders drooping.

I caught the look of relief in her eyes, before she turned away.

And as I walked through the portal once more, I had a hunch that I wasn't going to like whatever she was about to reveal.

…

This particular room was large, extra large I might add, and beautifully arranged. I recalled Natasha's words the first time I'd arrived.

Something about the See-brids liking bright places, in contrast to the Vampires.

I'd seen lots of evidence to prove her right. At the present, Queen Belinda was seated at the head of the table, with Zeke's uncle beside her. Zeke sat beside me, his hand on mine squeezing gently. His touch gave me a sense of comfort, braving me for whatever I was about to hear.

“As you all know, one of a See-brid's power is the ability to control time,” Queen Belinda began.

I winced. I just discovered about that recently, when Natasha had been about to send me back in time.

“When Cora died, I'd been devastated, Xavier too. Together, we tried bringing her back to life, but it didn't work. The only option left was to reverse time. We tried twice, but Cora died both times.” She paused, two creases appearing on her forehead, mirroring her pain.

“Why couldn't you save her both times?” Zeke interrupted, his voice weaker than I'd ever heard.

Instinctively, I stroked his fingers, and he relaxed a bit. I smiled at him, reassuring him that I was there.

That we were in this together.

“She was fated to die,” It was Zeke's uncle who spoke this time. He swallowed, and met my gaze.

“But this lifetime changed. Mirah died in both lifetimes too, but this time is different.” His words made me jerk my head up.

I felt Zeke tense too.

“I died?” I whispered.

Queen Belinda nodded slowly. “Yes. But those times, you were a human. This time, you possess some powers.”

I blinked. Once. Then twice.

“Was that why you made me turn her into a Vampire?” I heard Zeke ask beside me. But his voice was a bit faint.

“We weren't sure if it'd work. So we had to bring Roanna and the Rogue-brid into the mix. Tyler had destroyed the Dark realm in the past lifetimes.” Queen Belinda narrated.

I struggled to breathe normally.

All these had been planned. Everything.

And the realization was scary.

“But why didn't you say anything? Did you know about it too?” Zeke asked, turning to Natasha.

He was hurt, and I could hear it.

I knew Zeke. I knew how much he loved being in control.

Suddenly realizing that he had no control over everything that's happened in the past, was sure to make him upset.

“Zeke,” I whispered, leaning in to steal a quick kiss. I made to pull away, but he held on, deepening the kiss.

My face flushed as I sat back on my seat once more. No one reacted to our little display of affection.

“Who killed Mirah in the past lifetimes?” Zeke asked.

Queen Belinda took a deep before replying.

“Your father did. He was controlled by Tyler.”

The temperature in the room dropped down a few degrees.

“King Elliott did?”

Xavier nodded.

“What did you mean when you said I wasn't a normal human?” I asked Xavier, recalling the words he'd said earlier on.

He exchanged glances with Queen Belinda.

“We believe the Source has chosen you to be its Controller.”
