Chapter Fifty-Five

             Mirah

I didn't respond. More like I had nothing to say. At that moment, Zeke squeezed my hand gently.

Right. I wasn't alone.

Zeke might be a jerk at times, but he was also the one who truly loved me.

“I'm done playing it cool. Take her to her room.” My father ordered his stern looking guards. My blood boiled in anger, and I subconsciously took a step back. A dangerous aura oozed from Zeke's being, as he took his place in front of me.

“And take this fool to the torturing room.” My father added, and crossed his legs leisurely.

His men drew closer, but Zeke turned to me.

“What should I do to them, Kitten?” His words were the coldest I'd ever heard him utter.

“Is it possible to take me out of here, without hurting anyone?” I asked in a defeated tone.

“You still have a sense of pity.” He turned fully, so his back was facing my parents.

“No one threatens or blackmails my woman. And that includes family, Kitten. Wait for me outside, I'll be out soon.”

I could see he was on the verge of erupting. And the last thing I wanted was my parents getting hurt, even though they wronged me.

“Zeke, please. Let's go.” I pleaded.

“What are you waiting for? Take that slut inside!” My father called out from his chair.

I shuddered, as Zeke's eyes turned a blazing red. His fangs flashed, and my breath quickened.

“Zeke,” I tried reaching out for him, but he pulled away.

“Kitten, wait for me outside.” he ordered.

I hesitated, but backed away when he stared into my eyes.

“Now.”

I scurried out, not wanting to see a side of  that'd make me afraid of him.

He was out in six minutes, looking unruffled. Without hesitation, I flung myself at him, my tears pouring down freely.

He didn't say a word, but his hands patted my shoulders comfortingly. But even beneath his touch, I could see how hard he was trying to control himself.

I raised my reddened eyes at him. “Did you hurt my mother?”

“Only your father and the guards.” He said, brushing the tears away.

I felt nothing. Well, aside the hollow in my heart, from the anger of being practically sold out by my parents.

I leaned against his sturdy chest, finding little solace.

“Should I take you home?” He asked hoarsely.

“Home? At this point, I don't know if I have a home.” I sniffled.

My hands went around his neck, when he suddenly scooped me up.

“Don't worry, Kitten. Your home is with me.”

He took me carefully to the car, and placed me on the passenger's seat.

…

“Thank you,” I forced a smile as I accepted the cup of hot coffee which he offered me. Still looking closely, Zeke went over to sit across from me.

“Are you avoiding me?” Trying to make small talk, I asked.

“I'd never.”

“Then come sit close to me.” I requested.

He wasted no time in crossing over to where I was sitting. He placed his hand on my shoulder, and pulled me against his body. He was shirtless, as usual.

“I can't believe he did that to me.” I whispered.

“Selfish people never change. He already tried marrying you off once.” Yet again, Zeke spoke with that same hint of anger in his voice.

“I just couldn't believe he'd go that far.” I sighed.

Zeke pulled me away from him gently, so we were just a few inches apart.

“Do you want to get back at them?” He asked softly.

My eyes reddened. The sincerity in his eyes tugged at my heart strings. I didn't didn't doubt him for a second.

“He has enough punishment already. Even though Jayden is a bastard, he at least did something good.” I hissed.

“Which is?” Zeke asked in a dangerously low voice.

“I believe he made my father's company go bankrupt.” I made myself comfortable against Zeke's body, and I felt him tense.

“Ohh.” He simply said, which made me move away from him.

“Do you have something to say to me?” I asked him.

“Not at all,” he shook his head. He pulled me even closer, and I sighed.

“If you ever want to deal with your parents for what they did to you, you just have to say the word and leave the rest to me.” His voice dripped venom and I subconsciously shuddered.

“Zeke?”

“Yes, Kitten?”

“Shut up, and kiss me.”

He didn't need probing, as he pushed me back against the couch almost immediately. His lips locked with mine, and I sighed into his mouth.

From my position, I grinded against him, and felt his erection getting bigger.

He pulled back a little, a dangerous twinkle in his eyes. “Are you sure you only need a kiss, or something more?”

I raised my knee, just enough to brush against his arousal. He groaned.

“What do you think?” I asked, sensually biting my lower lip.

He grabbed my hands, and placed them above my head.

“I think,” he ran his tongue against my lower lip, and I shivered. “I need to make you forget about today's incident.”

“Oh yeah? And how do you intend to do that?” Desire pooled in my stomach,as his hand slipped beneath my shirt.

“You don't have to worry, Kitten. You're in good hands.” With a low growl, he captured my lips once more.

He was here again. In my dreams. And this time, he was looking angry.

“Xavier?” I'd never felt so afraid, as I was at that moment. I was in my room, and he was leaning across the wall just a few meters away from me.

“There's no time, Princess.” The lines on his face deepened.

I swallowed. “Time for what?”

Unlike the last time, he was fully clad in a black shirt and equally black trouser. He pushed off the walls at my words, and came closer to where I was sitting on the bed.

“Convince Zeke to take you to Weasels.” His hand brushed against my forehead, and I closed my eyes, suddenly losing my sense of focus.

“W-why should -” I couldn't think straight, and it had to be his fault. He was doing something to me.

He finally smiled, and I thought about how goodlooking he was.

“You, my Princess will do all my bidding. 'Cause that's what you're meant to do. Isn't that right?” His breath fanned my face.

I found myself nodding to his words.

“Good girl.” He backed away, the casual attitude wiping off.

“This time, you'd no longer see me in your dreams. I'm finally taking you away from that asshole of a vampire prince.” He snarled.

I wanted to refute his words. To tell him that Zeke wasn't an asshole, and he should refrain saying such mean words about him.

But I remained tongue-tied, watching him dazedly.

“I'm watching you, Princess. Convince him, or risk watching him die.” He blew me a kiss, and vanished.
