Chapter 27: Bad News
Chris ran to the place John had pointed out. There he found Angela lying on the ground unconscious. Chris shook Angela's body. Several times he tried to wake her up. But nothing happened. Angela was still helplessly silent.
"Angela ...." Chris called loudly. Then he turned to John, asking his personal assistant to help him take Angela to the hospital.
John hurried to prepare the car in front of Chris' house. Behind him Chris walked quickly while carrying Angela's body. Chris immediately got into the car, and asked John to drive the car at high speed to get to the hospital as soon as possible.
Arriving at the hospital Angela was immediately taken to the emergency room. The doctor asked Chris to wait outside the room. Now Chris' mind was racing. Who would have thought Angela would kill herself. He honestly never wanted that to happen. Even though Angela had made a very fatal mistake, he didn't really want to give her a severe punishment.
"How is Angela, Boss?" John asked after catching up with Chris in front of the ER.
Chris shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know yet. The doctor is still examining her in there," Chris said.
John didn't ask any more questions. He began to sit down while quietly watching Chris. Although his employer looked very scary, it turned out that he also had a soft heart when he saw his lover helpless. Whereas before Chris looked very angry when he found out about the mistake Angela had made.
"Doctor ...." Chris called out as a doctor came out of the ER with a worried look on his face and looked very confused as he searched for someone.
The doctor approached Chris. "Are you the family of the patient inside?"
Chris nodded quickly. "Yes, I'm her boyfriend. How is Angela?"
"She needs immediate surgery to save her life." After saying that, the doctor left Chris.
Chris's face immediately paled. How bad was the poison Angela had taken that her life was at stake? Angela can't die, that way Angela can feel the punishment given by him.

The operation lasted for about four hours. Chris waited in front of the operating room anxiously. He walked back and forth waiting for the operating room door to open.
Chris stopped suddenly. He stood up straight when he saw the operating room door open. The doctor who met him earlier came over to him.
"The surgery went well. She will be taken to the observation room first as she is still unconscious. Once her condition improves, you can see her," the doctor said and left Chris alone.
Chris punched the air to express his excitement. He disappeared with a sigh of relief and a big smile. Now he didn't have to worry about Angela.
"How was the operation, Boss?"
Next thing he knew John had appeared in front of Chris. His breathing was labored. It seemed like he had been running fast on his way to this place.
"Everything is going well. I'm sure Angela will regain consciousness soon," Chris said optimistically.
John just nodded in response to Chris' words. In his heart he also felt the same relief that Chris felt.

Angela blinked her eyes a few times as a bright beam of light blocked her vision. The pungent smell of disinfectant pierced her nose. She furrowed her brow trying to remember where she was.
Could it be that she was in heaven now? She still remembered what she did earlier. Downing a bottle of poison that instantly set her lungs on fire. Then she didn't remember anything after that.
Arrgh.
Angela groaned loudly as she touched her sore chest. Her head was throbbing and felt like it was going to burst. She couldn't bear the pain anymore.
"Are you awake?"
A familiar voice sounded in her ears. The voice of Chris that she missed so much. Right now she couldn't believe what she was hearing. There was no way Chris was beside her. After everything he did, Chris must still hate her.
"Chris ...." Angela called softly.
"I'll call a doctor to check your condition," Chris said later.
Angela's hand managed to grab Chris' hand. She pulled him closer to her. Suddenly, the corners of her eyes filled with tears, which fell on her cheeks.
"Don't go," Angela pleaded.
Chris gently wiped Angela's tears away. "I'm not going anywhere. How do you feel?"
Angela gave a faint smile. Chris that she had always known was different from Chris who was now beside her. Chris whose heart was as hard as steel had now become very gentle and caring.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done something so stupid," Angela whispered hoarsely. "I must have disappointed you again."
"I don't want to talk about it," Chris snapped. He let go of Angela's grip. Chris then turned his body around and walked slowly towards the door.
"Where are you going?" asked Angela confused. Could it be that Chris was unhappy with what she had just said? Angela wondered to herself.
"I'm going to see the doctor, then tell him that you're awake."
Chris didn't look at Angela directly. He deliberately turned his back on her. After that he hurried to leave her alone.

"When can Angela go home?" Chris asked the doctor who was treating Angela.
The doctor shook his head slowly. He looked at Chris with a concerned look. The answer he wanted to give Chris felt very difficult to come out of his lips.
"I can't be sure yet because Angela has quite severe complications from the poison she took," the doctor explained. His voice sounded very heavy.
"What do you mean exactly, Doc? Didn't she have surgery?" asked Chris, confused by the doctor's answer.
"We did perform surgery on her. But that's not everything," the doctor said. "The surgery was only to save the patient's life. In the meantime we need time and some further examinations to cure the complications received due to the poison."
"I don't understand. Can you speak to the point?" urged Chris impatiently.
"The poison caused Angela to have difficulty conceiving," the doctor concluded.
Chris's eyes went wide. He had not expected Angela to face such a harsh reality. Angela would never be able to have children.
