Chapter 22 - Ethan’s POV: The First Time I Saw Her

**Ethan's POV:**

I remember the first time I laid eyes on her—Sophia. It was a night like any other, or so I thought. I was at the bar, just minding my own business, scouting the area to make sure things were safe for my pack. Routine work. But then, she walked in.

It was like the world stopped spinning for a moment.

She wasn’t like anyone I’d ever seen before. She wasn’t flashy, not the type to draw attention on purpose, but there was something about her that pulled me in. Something more. The moment I caught her scent, my wolf surged inside me like an uncontrollable force. It was intoxicating—floral, sweet, and earthy. It was different from anything I’d ever smelled before.

**Mate**.

The word echoed through my mind, and I remember freezing in place, my entire body on high alert. My wolf was howling, desperate to claim her, to pull her close and never let her go. But I resisted. How could she be my mate? She was human.

Humans weren’t supposed to be mated to wolves, let alone an alpha like me. It didn’t make sense. A human as my Luna? That couldn’t be right. I had a duty, responsibilities. My pack needed a strong, capable Luna—someone who could lead alongside me, who understood our world, our laws.

And yet... there she was. Completely unaware of the storm she was stirring inside me. I watched her work that night, moving behind the bar, serving drinks, her smile warm but tired. My heart pounded with every step she took, with every glimpse I caught of her. I knew I couldn’t stay away.

My wolf was fighting to break free, to mark her as mine. But I knew I had to be careful. If I wasn’t careful, I’d scare her away.

And the pack... Would they ever accept her? How would they react to their alpha bringing home a human as his Luna? They needed strength, unity. Would they see her as a weakness? Would they question my leadership because of her?

But none of that mattered in those first moments. I couldn’t focus on anything but her. My instincts were screaming at me to claim her, but my mind was reeling, trying to make sense of it all.

I remember watching her that night, battling my inner turmoil. How could something feel so right and yet be so impossible?

That was then.

Now, things have changed so fast, faster than I could’ve anticipated. I’ve watched Sophia grow stronger, watched her question and resist, but never fully back down. She’s brave—braver than I gave her credit for at first. And the bond... it’s undeniable. I feel it every time I’m near her, every time I look into her eyes.

I never thought I’d end up here, questioning everything I thought I knew. But here I am. And as crazy as it all feels, I can’t deny one thing anymore.

She’s mine. And I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her, to prove to the pack that she’s the one.

Even if she’s human.
