Chapter 93 Fever
Genesis's POV:
I didn't know when I finally stopped crying and fell into a dazed sleep. When I woke up the next morning, I discovered the window was still open.
My head felt dizzy and my whole body ached. I must have developed a fever.
Maybe even God couldn't stand what I did to Eli, so he was punishing me with a cold.
I fell asleep again until Susan woke me up.
"Genesis? You have a fever!"
I opened my eyes and looked at her.
"You need a doctor! Wait here."
She left before I could say anything.
The room fell quiet again, but Eli's words kept echoing in my ears.
"I wish you... freedom! Happiness! In a life without me!"
I thought Eli was right about what he said about me. I really didn't have a heart.
Because even now, though I felt sorry for Eli, I didn't regret what I'd done.
In this house I had no way out. I only had myself, so I had to be ruthless.
The high fever made my consciousness blur.
I only knew Susan brought a family doctor who put me on an IV.
"There's a property deed and keys on the nightstand. Do you need me to put them away for you?" I heard Susan ask through my haze.
I had no idea what she was talking about. I was too tired, so I just nodded and let her handle it.
After Susan left, I fell back into deep sleep.
I don't know how long passed before someone yanked me from the bed. I fell directly to the floor, making my body hurt even more.
I struggled to lift my head to see who it was.
It was Maria!
Two hostile-looking maids stood behind her. My heart immediately tensed.
"What do you want?!" I spoke weakly, backing away warily.
Maria gestured, and the two maids immediately pounced and grabbed me.
I was too weak to resist and could only let them hold me.
"Maria, aren't you afraid Christian and Jordan will find out?"
Hearing my words, Maria laughed wildly. "Grandpa and Dad aren't here. They went to the next city for business. They won't be back until tomorrow."
My heart sank. She had planned this all out!
"What do you want to do to me?" I forced myself to stay conscious.
If I passed out, Maria would definitely find ways to torture me.
Maria walked over and stepped on my calf, grinding down hard.
Pain made sweat break out on my forehead.
"Eli's gone. You have no backing now. A bitch like you only deserves to be the lowest servant..."
She grabbed my hair and forced me to lift my head.
"I found you a good job. Get your ass to the stables and brush horses!"
The two maids hauled me up and dragged me downstairs.
Susan was startled to see me being brought down and quickly stepped forward to stop them.
"What are you doing?! She's still sick!"
Before Susan could get close, Maria raised her hand and slapped her hard, kicking her to the ground.
"What are you? A maid dares to tell me what to do? Someone slap her until she knows who's the master of this house!"
"Don't touch her!" My heart was anxious.
Susan was innocent. She was trying to help me. I couldn't let Maria beat and scold her.
"This bitch has been secretly helping you. Your bones flow with lowly blood, making friends with such a base servant! I'm going to break her legs! Then throw her out of the Martinez family!"
Susan couldn't lose this job. She had a sick mother at home to care for!
"If you dare touch her, I'll immediately post your video online."
"You!" Maria stared at me hard, finally releasing Susan after a long moment. "Drag her away!"
Susan still wanted to stop them, but I quietly shook my head at her.
The maids dragged me all the way to the stables and pushed me to the ground.
Maria walked up to me, looking down from above. "Hand over those videos."
I didn't answer her. With the videos in my hands, Maria might still be wary. If I really handed them over, that would be a dead end.
Maria showed a vicious smile. "Since you won't hand them over, don't blame me!"
"Lawrence, she's the one threatening me with our videos! I'm leaving her to you now! You can do whatever you want! She's just like her lowly mother, can't live without men!"
Lawrence! That was the gardener's name! I looked over in horror following her gaze. It really was the gardener who had been having an affair with her!
Maria excitedly took out her phone to film me. "You won't give me the videos, so I'll film your video and spread it all over the internet. Let you taste what it's like to be ruined!"
This was all planned! Cleaning the stables was fake. Taking back the videos was the real goal!
"Let me go and I'll give you the videos!" Now that Maria had lost her mind, I could only use the videos to escape first!
Maria stared at me for a while, then smiled.
"Hand them over!"
I gave Maria the cloud storage address and password. After Maria checked and deleted the videos, I said, "Now you can let me go."
But the two maids Maria brought still blocked my way.
"What do you mean?" I questioned Maria.
"Genesis, you're so stupid! How could I let you go! You made my mother kneel and slap herself in front of you. How dare you, you bitch! I want everyone to see your slutty side!"
Maria gestured to the gardener, who immediately lunged at me!
Already feverish and weak, how could I be a match for a strong gardener?
I quickly ran outside, but Lawrence grabbed my hair hard, showing an extremely lewd smile.
My hands struggled frantically and accidentally touched a hard hoof pick!
Without thinking, I gripped the hoof pick tightly and smashed it hard against Lawrence's head.
Lawrence screamed in pain, covering his head and releasing me.
I took the chance to get up and ran outside desperately.
The violent movement made my vision go black, but I gritted my teeth and didn't dare stop running.
"What are you standing there for? Chase her!" Maria shouted. The maids and her men quickly pursued.
They chased behind me, but the fever made my hands and feet weak.
"Bitch!" Maria cursed angrily. "When I catch you, I'll strip you naked and give you to those homeless men on the street! Let them screw you to death!"
No! I absolutely couldn't let them catch me!
Maria hated me to the bone. If I really fell into her hands, my fate would be terrible!
I ran desperately outside!
Just as I rushed out of the Martinez villa, a black car suddenly stopped in front of me.
A hand reached out from the car and pulled me in!
