Chapter 67 Anger Erupted
Eli's POV
In the car on my way home from the mission, I played with my phone out of boredom. Walker was reporting some recent family business. All the usual stuff.
"We have a lead on who reported our arms shipment to the FBI."
I straightened up and gestured for him to continue.
"The tip came from someone at Valleria High School."
"Well, well. A high schooler!" I laughed coldly.
"Speed up the investigation! I want to know exactly who made that report!"
Walker agreed.
I went back to chatting with ChatGPT. What's the best graduation gift for a high school girl?
The suggestions were all common things. Gift cards, laptops, phones, graduation trips. These were already on my list for Genesis. Nothing original at all.
I didn't know why, but seeing her complete lack of excitement made me want to give her more and better things.
Something more special. Something that matched her interests.
But thinking about it carefully, I realized I didn't actually know what Genesis liked. She seemed indifferent to everything. Having it or not having it made no difference to her.
I even asked Susan about it. Her answer broke my heart even more.
She said Genesis wasn't always like this. Savannah had forced her to become this way. Since childhood, whenever Genesis showed particular interest in something or wanted something, Savannah would destroy it right in front of her.
Over time, Genesis learned to accept and never ask for anything. No expectations meant no disappointment.
I felt both furious and heartbroken hearing this. What kind of life had Genesis been living in the Martinez family all these years?
I couldn't help but sigh.
"Boss? What's wrong? Did that bastard Christian do something again?" Walker nervously moved closer.
I waved my hand and told him what was bothering me.
Walker suddenly understood. "Oh, that! You could check Genesis's Instagram! See what she posts. That'll tell you what she likes."
Of course!
I'd completely forgotten about that!
I quickly opened Instagram on my phone and searched for Genesis's name. She was the first result.
I clicked on her profile with anticipation, but it felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped over my head.
Her latest post was a photo with that brat Forth?!
They looked intimate in the pose, and her smile was absolutely radiant! She'd never smiled at me like that!
I was furious. I lost all interest in browsing her Instagram and angrily shut off my phone.
When I got home, I saw Susan cleaning near the entrance. I walked over with a frown. "Where's Genesis?"
Susan looked at me with reverence. "She's upstairs in her room. Do you need her for something?"
I gave her a cold glance. Susan immediately shut her mouth in fear.
I quickly went upstairs to Genesis's room, but she wasn't there.
I saw her phone on the desk and picked it up. The case was severely worn, and the model was so old you could throw it in the trash and no one would pick it up. If outsiders saw this, they'd think the Martinez family had gone bankrupt.
Savannah really knew how to torture people.
I lit up her phone screen. It wasn't our photo from before anymore!
Anger began building inside me.
She happily posted her photo with Forth on Instagram, but she wouldn't even set our photo as her wallpaper!
Knock knock knock!
Susan came upstairs and knocked on the door. Her hesitant gaze swept around the room.
"There's a boy named Forth here to see Genesis. Where is she?"
Forth? Perfect timing!
Genesis actually dared to like Forth? I would never allow it!
Genesis belonged to me!
I slowly walked downstairs and saw Forth sitting nervously on the sofa.
He clearly hadn't expected to see me. After a moment of confusion, he politely greeted me. "Hello, sir. Where is Genesis?"
I pointed to a nearby sofa. "Genesis is busy with something. Wait here for a bit."
I acted like a perfect gentleman, but inside I was seething with rage. I wanted to pull out my gun and blow this brat's head off!
He actually dared to come to the house looking for Genesis!
I didn't understand why Genesis would like such a brat!
I'll admit he looked strong, but he radiated childish stupidity from head to toe! How could he compare to me? I was more mature and stronger than him!
No matter how you looked at it, I could satisfy her better than this naive little boy in front of me!
I stared coldly at Forth. "What do you want with Genesis?"
Forth hesitated for a moment, then said, "I got my offer from Novien University of Technology. I came to share the good news with her."
This was good news indeed!
Genesis's target school was Walton University! This brat was going to get lost overseas!
I suppressed my joy and deliberately asked, "Didn't you say at your College Counseling Meeting that you were applying to Walton University? Why the change?"
What a perfect change. The brat would roll off to some foreign country, as far from Genesis as possible!
Forth scratched his head. "Novien University of Technology's team is pretty interested in me too. And Genesis also applied there. We could help each other out overseas."
Help each other out? Did he think I couldn't see that he liked Genesis?
What bullshit!
I gripped the gun at my waist tightly, staring at Forth with rage.
Forth was startled by my expression. I took a deep breath to suppress my emotions and barely managed to squeeze out a sentence.
"You're mistaken. Genesis applied to Walton University."
I'd confirmed this multiple times with her College Counselor just a few days ago.
Forth shook his head in confusion. "No, Genesis applied to Novien University of Technology. She said her family told her to apply there. Don't you... know about it? Maybe her adoptive parents arranged it?"
Of course I didn't know! Fury immediately filled my chest.
Genesis was secretly planning to go overseas!
She'd even made plans with this idiot! She chose this childish, irresponsible little boy! She actually liked Forth!
The revelations hit me like a barrage, making me see black with rage.
What did that make me? I would never allow this to happen!
My murderous gaze fell on Forth as I gripped my gun.
He actually dared to say he'd take good care of Genesis right to my face. I was going to kill him!
But just then, Forth's eyes suddenly lit up.
He looked past my shoulder with delight and waved. "Genesis!"
I pulled my hand back and turned around with a dark expression. Genesis was walking in from outside.
