Chapter 36 Premature Relationship
Genesis's POV
I never expected Gage would actually shoot Eli directly. I was so scared I quickly closed my eyes! Delilah's screams almost shattered the roof, and my body started trembling too.
Bullets were so fast. Eli was definitely going to die!
Once he died, Gage definitely wouldn't spare Delilah and me. We were all doomed!
The more I thought about it, the more terrified I became. I trembled and tears fell.
The scene was chaotic. I heard many footsteps running around. Were they about to attack us?
"James! Are you crazy? You actually shot and killed Gage! This is betraying the family!"
In the chaos, someone shouted. I looked up in shock. Who did he say died?!
I saw Gage shot in the head, lying in a pool of blood. He was obviously dead. Beside him, Eli stood with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder, looking down at the corpse.
Blood kept flowing from Eli's shoulder. After noticing my gaze, he immediately looked up at me mockingly.
What was going on?
One second I was worried about Eli being killed by Gage, the next second Gage was the one who got killed.
Either way, I was relieved.
I smiled gratefully at Eli. No matter what, he had saved me.
But Eli actually looked away in disgust.
I pouted. Several of Gage's subordinates surrounded James, pointing their guns at him.
James's expression didn't change. He took out his phone. "Don Nguyen gave me the order to kill Gage on the spot."
Everyone gathered around and confirmed the message on James's phone was indeed from Don Nguyen.
They looked at each other, not knowing what to do now.
"Actually, Gage hijacking the Martinez family's weapons wasn't Don Nguyen's order at all. He wanted to make money to buy his mistress Daisy a villa." James explained. "He repeatedly defied Don Nguyen for women, betraying the family. Do you still want to follow such a person?"
Gage's subordinates put away their guns and retreated with James.
No wonder Don Nguyen wanted to abandon Gage as heir. Loyalty to family and clan was basic, but Gage had done neither.
He deserved it.
Walker walked in with his people. Seeing Eli injured, he immediately rushed over.
"Boss, you're hurt! Let's go to the car and treat the wound first." Walker frowned.
Eli nodded with a dark expression. I could see his lips were slightly pale. It must hurt terribly.
That was a gunshot wound.
Eli walked two steps toward the car, then suddenly stopped and looked at me. "What are you standing there for?"
Me?
Eli sneered. "Yes, you. That little mute who can't speak."
I pointed at Delilah lying unconscious on the ground. Shouldn't he save her first?
Eli just glanced at Delilah indifferently. "The Nelson family will send people to pick up their princess. Don't worry about her."
He tapped my forehead. "If not for her, would you have been kidnapped? You can't even protect yourself, yet you're worrying about others."
I smiled at him ingratiatingly.
I just thought he should take Delilah with him, not me.
After all, only by staying away from them would I be safest!
I signed to Eli: \[School requires assembly at 2 o'clock. They'll definitely call you if they can't find me.\]
"I can't understand your sign language." Eli lazily beckoned me. "Where's your phone?"
I shook my head to indicate my phone was lost somewhere, and walked two steps toward Eli.
As soon as I got close, Eli hooked my neck with one hand and leaned his whole body against me.
I looked up at him in shock, twisting to try to break free.
But how could my strength compare to Eli's? After pushing for a while, he didn't move at all.
I frantically gestured at him again. Eli directly grabbed my hands and said arrogantly, "Every time I get injured, I need to lean on a woman while getting treated. You're the only woman around here."
I instinctively looked at Delilah lying on the ground. Eli laughed angrily. "If you dare suggest waking up Delilah for me to lean on, I'll throw you out right now."
I shrank back and obediently let Eli hold me as we got in the car.
A doctor was already waiting in the car. Eli practically used me as a chair, nestling against me.
His burning body temperature transmitted through thin clothes to my body, making me shiver instinctively.
Eli squinted at me. "Want to avoid me? Is this how you treat your savior?"
His burning palm gripped my lower back, pulling our distance closer.
I could even see his thick eyelashes and slightly pale thin lips clearly.
I panicked and dodged a little, finding a pen and paper in the car to write my previous question for him to see.
Eli picked up the paper and glanced at it, saying lazily, "I already told the teacher you were picked up by me. Don't worry."
"Boss, I'm going to start removing the bullet." The doctor looked at Eli respectfully. Eli waved his hand casually.
His attitude wasn't like getting a bullet removed, more like someone taking a coin from his hand.
Eli leaned close to my ear with a half-smile. "Little mute, don't move around. If you cause the doctor's hand to slip, I might bleed to death."
I was so scared I froze completely, not daring to move an inch.
Eli contentedly leaned against me, letting the doctor operate.
I thought he would take advantage and touch me inappropriately, but he just lazily lay against me without any other movements.
Just when the doctor removed the bullet, his muscles tensed for a moment, but his face showed no expression.
I was the one who felt relieved.
"Did you just think I would lose to Gage?" Eli reached up and pinched my nose. "Am I that weak in your heart?"
I smiled awkwardly and pointed at the doctor's actions, indicating Eli should watch him apply medicine.
But Eli had no intention of letting me off. He pinched my chin, forcing me to meet his eyes. "You really have no conscience. I specially came to save you, yet you think so little of me."
Specially?
I was extremely surprised: \[You came specially to save me? Not for Delilah?\]
After signing, I remembered he couldn't understand and anxiously tried to reach for pen and paper.
But Eli didn't let me go, staring into my eyes. "I came to this broken warehouse alone just for you. Otherwise, do you think it was for that idiot Delilah? In the video, you looked so pitiful huddled in the corner. Were you worried no one would save you?"
I looked at him in shock, momentarily forgetting to move.
Eli suddenly gripped the back of my head and kissed me hard.
