Chapter 59: Wedding Dress Shopping
Mysa stood in front of her bedroom mirror, adjusting the simple yet classy blouse she had chosen for the day.
It had been a few days since the threat, and although there had been no further incidents, a lingering sense of unease clung to her.
Clave had assured her it was likely just an empty threat, but she couldn’t shake off the fear completely. Rather, she started to feel like she was being watched all the time, even when she was sleeping.
Every night, she almost wanted to call Draven and stay up all night talking, but she knew how tired he remained after work. Even though she knew he would drop everything in a heartbeat to support her, her stupid conscience couldn't ask that of him. So, begrudgingly, she always hung up the phone before one in the morning.
It didn't help that she also felt guilty that she was hiding all of this from him as well. But she didn't want him to worry about it.
Today, however, she decided to push those worries aside. It was a special day—wedding dress shopping with Diva and Zinnia.
The thought brought a smile to her face and a flutter of excitement to her heart. She had been looking forward to this moment for so long.
She grabbed her purse and phone, sending a quick text to Draven.
Mysa: Heading out now. Wish me luck with the dress hunting!
His reply was almost immediate.
Draven: Good luck, baby. I am sure you will find the perfect dress. Can’t wait to see you in it.
Mysa smiled at his words, feeling a warmth spread through her. With one last glance in the mirror, she headed out the door.
As Mysa stepped out of her house, she was greeted by the sight of Diva and Zinnia waiting for her by the car. They were engrossed in an animated conversation but instantly broke into wide smiles when they saw her.
Diva rushed over and enveloped her in a big hug.
“Mysa! You are here! I’m so excited!” Diva exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
Zinnia joined them, her smile warm and welcoming. “We’ve been waiting for you. Ready to find the dress of your dreams?”
Mysa nodded, her nerves settling as she basked in the support and excitement of her future sister-in-law and mother-in-law. “Yes, let’s do this.”
They all climbed into the car, with Zinnia taking the wheel. As they drove, the atmosphere was filled with lighthearted chatter and laughter.
"So, Mysa," Zinnia began, glancing at her through the rearview mirror. "How is my son treating you? Is he still as wonderful as ever?"
Before Mysa could respond, Diva interjected with a teasing grin. "Mom, you know that already. Draven literally gives her princess treatment." She winked at Mysa, causing her to blush.
Zinnia smiled, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Still, I want to hear it from her."
Mysa felt warmth spread through her at their words. "He is just wonderful, like always," she said softly.
Diva and Zinnia exchanged a look of genuine happiness. "We’re so glad to hear that," Zinnia said, her voice filled with emotion. She sent a silent prayer that her children would always remain this happy.
The trio continued their cheerful conversation until they finally reached the shopping mall.
Stepping out of the car, Mysa took a deep breath, feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation. Today was going to be a memorable day.
However, as they walked toward the boutique, Mysa’s excitement began to wane. She felt an unsettling sensation, as though someone was following her.
She turned to look behind her, but there was no one there. Was she again getting the wrong feeling of being watched?
“What’s wrong?” Zinnia asked, noticing Mysa’s changed expression. “Honey, is everything okay?”
Mysa forced a smile, trying to shake off the uneasy feeling. "Yeah… I just… nothing."
Zinnia gave her a concerned look but nodded, deciding not to press further. "Alright, if you say so."
They finally reached the boutique, and the sight of beautiful wedding gowns on display lifted Mysa's spirits a bit.
The boutique owner greeted them warmly as they entered.
Zinnia stepped forward, a determined look in her eyes. "We are here to find the perfect dress for my daughter," she said, her voice filled with pride and affection as she glanced at Mysa. "Something unique and truly special."
The boutique owner smiled, nodding in understanding. "Of course. We have a wide selection of beautiful gowns. Please, take your time and let me know if you need any assistance."
Mysa felt a wave of gratitude wash over her as she looked at Zinnia. The warmth and support from Draven's family meant the world to her.
She took a deep breath and started browsing through the dresses, trying to focus on the excitement of finding her perfect gown.
Diva was already pulling dresses from the racks, her enthusiasm infectious. "Mysa, look at this one! And this one! Oh, you have to try this!"
Mysa smiled, feeling her nerves settle a bit as she allowed herself to get caught up in the moment. "Alright, alright," she laughed. "Let’s try them on."
As Mysa disappeared into the dressing room with a handful of dresses, Zinnia turned to the boutique owner again. "We want her to feel like the most special bride in the world," she said softly. "She deserves it."
The owner nodded, her expression warm. "We will make sure she finds the dress of her dreams."
Meanwhile, Mysa tried on yet another beautiful gown, she admired her reflection in the mirror. This one was especially breathtaking, with delicate lace sleeves and a flowing, ethereal skirt that made her feel like she was walking on air.
She took a deep breath, savoring the moment.
Just as she was about to call out to Zinnia and Diva, the door to the dressing room creaked open.
Before she could react, a strong hand clamped over her mouth, stifling her scream.
Her heart pounded in her chest, and her eyes widened in fear as she struggled against the grip.
"Shhh," a low voice hissed in her ear. "Don't make a sound."
