Chapter 202 THE CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG

Chapter 202 THE CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG
KAI’S POINT OF VIEW.
“Enough.” My father repeated, clutching that cane he doesn’t need tighter than necessary. Silas stepped forward, his cane tapping the marble floors in the silent hall. I felt the stares of everyone on Aurora; they didn’t look at me... they knew better to. It was why they focused on her instead, because she was an easier pick.
It would only be for tonight… not anymore.
“Silas…Mr. Mercer.” Densie gasped, as if she’d seen her savior. She rushed forward, stepping toward him, the same tears streaking her cheeks with fake sobbing, her hands clasped as if in prayer. "You see the truth now. You see the filth this girl carries…….she is filth.” She practically hissed the words out, her eyes on Aurora, who still hid behind me. “Armando tried… he tried to force me not to say a word about this, but I couldn’t. I cannot bear the thought of someone like her tainting us. For the sake of your family, for the sake of the Mercers, you must discard her. My Morgan is ready to take her place at your son’s side… it’ll be the perfect solution to wash away this shame."
I felt Aurora’s breath hitch behind me, her grip on my hand tight. She was waiting for the axe to fall, but I'd never let that happen……not again.
I chuckled; the already silent room became even more silent at the sound of it. Densie turned to me, disregarding her husband, who, while holding onto Morgan as best he could, tried to reach her as well.
She rushed to me, false maternal grace covering her face. If I wanted a mother, I’d have asked in prayer for one when I turned ten after the incident at seven.
“Son! My darling son, Kai… don't you want your family to be truly graceful? Do you want the daughter of a whore, a mistress, a home wrecker to take you away?” she gasped, staring at our joined hands like it was an abomination.
“You evil child! You still hold onto him?” She rushed towards Aurora, but I made sure not to lose hold of her. “How dare you?! Let him go right this moment. He belongs to Morgan now, do you not see what Silas says? Of course you don’t. like your mother, you only know how to lay claim to what isn’t yours.”
I felt Aurora’s glare even though my focus was on the seething Denise. She rushed towards her, but I stepped forward. “Touch her,” I warned, my tone dark and low….I truly wanted her to try it. Maybe I’d let everyone know just the lengths I wasn’t afraid to go to for her.
“I dare you, Denise.”
She blanched, staring at me with palpable shock. “Kai..” she gasped, her mouth agape like a fish out of water. “You… are you really on her side?” She turned to the crowd all of a sudden, clearly uncomfortable.
Just when I thought everything was bad enough, Morgan raced to me as well. “Kai, my love…. don't let this bitch take you away from me. Remember what we had? The love we share?” she bats her eyes at me, probably hoping to look seductive.
“You look like a possessed orangutan and chimp baby.” I narrowed my eyes….it was true. Every other girl looked a certain way whenever I wasn’t near Aurrora. It was worse when I thought she really died.
“K….Kai!” she hissed, pushing away from me. For a moment, she seemed as uncomfortable as her mother. They shared a look and then glared at me. “Will you disobey your father’s command?” they asked at the same time.
“I do not believe I uttered so much as a gasp in your support,” Silas said, stepping forward. A part of me felt angry at Armando. I wondered how many chances I would have to give him so he would be a man. But the fucker only stood like a fucking statue, not speaking a word in support of Aurora, or against her either.
