Chapter 169 HIS GIRLFRIEND?!
HIS GIRLFRIEND?!
AURORA’S POINT OF VIEW.
I did not know what to think. The second his soft lips crashed to mine, I thought the world had faded into oblivion. My heart stilled as his lips moved against mine in a harsh, possessive way, his hands rubbing at my waist so I felt every part of his clothed body. What am I supposed to do?
I… did not know what to do, or how to react. My body betrayed my shock before I could stop it, my hands grabbed at his hair, pulling him even closer as I kissed him back.
Each clash of our lips only served to remind me of what I’d endured. The betrayal from the one man who should have fought to protect and keep me safe, the betrayal from my so-called boyfriend, the hell I had to endure because Morgana was my step-sister, and she attended the same school as I did. It all crashed into me, making me lean even more into the kiss so it seemed even more believable.
I did not care about the consequences of crossing Morgana in that moment. All I wanted was for her to feel a semblance, a tiny bit of what she’d made me suffer for years, what my mother suffered….I wanted it all.
“Kai!” I heard her hiss, my ears still ringing from the suddenness of it all. Kai did not budge, not even when she hissed. Instead, he pulled me even closer, and practically ate my face, his chest rumbling with satisfied groans as I kissed him even harder.
Suddenly, he was pulled away from me. “What the hell?!” I saw Morgan hiss, her eyes filled with hate and shock as she stared at both of us. Kai’s chest moved up and down with his heavy breathing that mirrored mine. He glared at Morgan as if he wished she would cease to exist.
“We are done.” Those were the words he spoke; ever so casually, but they felt like an undoing. Morgan’s eyes widened to the size of saucers, tears rushing to her eyes yet again as she sobbed hysterically.
“What?!” she screeched like a banshee. “You cannot do this to me, Kai! How could you…..I told you,” Morgan pointed to me. “She hurt me, she made me fall….she slept with her pathetic boyfriend, forced me in here when I tried to speak to her about our differences, and pushed me to the floor. I was only lucky I did not get a bruise. Yet you kiss her?” she seemed in disbelief….that made two of us.
Morgan would never cease to amaze me. She had an uncanny talent for making the world believe they were at fault for a fire she started. One time when we were twelve, she broke Denise’s favorite vase, yet instead of letting her mother know she was at fault, she blamed me. She cried, screaming the house down in the dead of night.
I remember rushing out, along with my mother, to meet Dad and Denise, holding her as she sobbed. “It was her!” she’d pointed at me. “She broke Mom’s vase, and planned to hurt me!” I remember the feeling of horror coursing through me. It was all a lie.
“She’s not telling the truth, Dad.” I turned to my father, the one man I hoped would believe me, and not the second family he brought in to live with us after cheating on my mom. “I was with mom the entire time….we never even left the room. Dinner was served to us by Maid Racheal.” I tried to let him see.
“Yes, Armando.” My mom swung to defend me. “I was with her. She’s telling the truth.” For a second, I could see the flash of truth in Dad’s eyes. We both knew Mom never lied…. especially not to him. But just then, Denise took it up.
She joined her daughter in her hysterics, bursting into fake tears as if someone hurt her. “You believe them, don’t you, Armando?” she screeched dramatically. “Of course you do! My daughter and I never mattered to you anyway.” She moved to grab a still crying Morgan from dad’s arms. “I will take my daughter and leave. We will never come back!’
“No, Denise.” Dad moved towards her, his tone softer than I’d ever heard it. My heart clenched tight at the sound of it. I remember dad only using that tone for mom and me once upon a time. Now, he does not even care about us anymore.
“You’re a liar, Arman… if you are not lying, then let that girl know she cannot hurt my daughter and get away with it. What happens if we are not home? She and her mother could hurt little Morgan.” Her tone had been deceptively sweet and soft; she caressed his arm gently, too.
“You’re right,” Dad said after a beat of silence, stunning and hurting me at the same time. He turned to Mom, his eyes hard as he advanced. “You will clean up this mess without the help of any of the help. Once you’re done, I expect you to clean your sister’s room for seven days.” He announced.
“Arman! How could you do this?” Mom gasped, but Denise replied before Dad could.
“Teach your daughter not to break things that do not belong to her, teach her to know her place.” She smirked, and before Mom could say anything, she grabbed Dad by the hand and pouted.
“Come on, babe…let’s go take care of our daughter.” Dad did not glance at either of us even once. He let her pull him away, his eyes soft as he stared at her. Just as he turned, I caught that devilish smirk from Morgan while she rested in his arms.
“Our engagement is now nullified, Morgan….I will not marry you.” Kai announced, bringing me back to the present. They’d been engaged for the last six months, from what I knew. It was weird, too. Because dad hated Kai’s father with every fiber of his being…. This was just another plan from him. I just could not prove it yet.
“Kai!” she screeched and turned to me with a hateful expression. “This is your fault! You must have seduced him….you bitch!” she rushed towards me, her hands raised, probably to slap me again. I wanted for the blowout of reflex, used to her smacks lately….. I’d learned to get used to it once I turned fifteen.
However, no matter how long I waited, the smack did not land. My eyes had been shut tight so I could brace myself. But as I opened my eyes, I saw something I did not expect.
Kai held onto her raised hand before it could have landed on my face. She turned to him, still in as much disbelief and confusion as me.
“You will not lay a hand on my girlfriend, Morgan!”
