Suzzanah's POV I think I could successfully say that I knew exactly what it felt like to have a heart attack after having stared at the CEO's shocked face for a good 10 seconds while he stood paralysed in front of me. My wrist was still firmly clasped in his hand but I was doing everything I could to not let my fingers make contact with the skin of his neck which I was holding till just a few seconds ago. In the span of those 10 seconds, I had opened my mouth several times in order to apologise but no sound came out of my mouth. Then again, that might not be so bad. If he thought I was mute, he was bound to have some sympathy for me...right? But Master Cole and Mr. Penson know you can speak you nincompoop! I facepalmed inwardly. What do you do when you know that you are going to get fired but can't do anything about it because you brought it on yourself? Then again will getting fired even be the worst of my punishment? "Do you want to die?!" Mr. Talon's words from before rang in my ears. "He won't kill me for not bowing to him", I had replied him but then what about for an attempt at strangling him, regardless of the fact that it was unintentional. Truth is I wouldn't be surprised if he killed me this time around. Heck, I would readily kill myself right about now! Master Cole cleared his throat loudly and that shook both me and the CEO out of our respective thoughts. The CEO, whose name I had been told by Mr. Talon but had very shamelessly forgotten, turned his gaze away from mine to look at Master Cole who stood by the large wooden desk. His eyes moved to and fro between me and the CEO as his expression morphed from one of confusion to one of realisation. He smiled smugly and continued to stare at the CEO. It looked like they were having a mental conversion through eye-contact alone. Suddenly the CEO's head jerked back to look at me. He immediately let go of my hand and backed away as though I had some kind of contagious disease. The loss of his touch immediately sent a wave of longing through me and I was puzzled at that feeling. The CEO turned away from me so that his back was facing me. He put a hand to his forehead, fisting his hair in exasperation and my expression immediately turned into a worried one. Was he okay? Instinctively I took a step toward towards him and his back stiffened visibly. My body urged me to go to him and I took another step forward. It was as if my feet were moving on their own. My mind couldn't understand a thing of what was going on, all I knew was that I had an overwhelming urge to comfort him, no, not an urge but a need! I took another step towards him and he straightened his back, standing to his full height. He was still turned away from me and I found myself wanting to see his face. What was wrong with me? But the minute I opened my mouth to say God knows what to him, he swiftly turned around to face me and the expression on his face made my mouth go dry. His eyes glowed with such a terrifying fury that I felt like I was being burnt by the flames of hell itself. He towered over my frame, with his fists clenched and face darkened by what I could only describe, as hatred! My hands trembled spilling some of the water from the glass on the ground as my knees threatened to give in under me. I had never felt so much hatred in my entire life. It was rolling off of him in ginormous waves, ready to devastate anyone who crossed their path, which in this particular situation, was me. "How dare you", he whispered in a deep husky voice filled with detest, " who the hell let you in here?" I opened my mouth, but just like earlier no sound came out. I struggled to think straight but my brain felt like spaghetti. "Did you not hear me girl? ANSWER ME!" he roared and I nearly fell backwards at the authority that radiated off his words. My knees were just about to buckle when suddenly Mr. Penson stood in front of me, partially shielding me from the CEO's deadly glare. "Please excuse me sir, it is not her fault", he said and I was awed at how he kept his voice so steady, "I brought her in here with me" "John", the CEO said coldly, briefly removing his gaze from my face to look at Mr. Penson. "Bringing outsiders into my quarters is strictly forbidden, you of all people should know that" "I understand sir, but I needed her to be here for a specific purpose", Mr. Penson spoke slowly, clearly. "What purpose?" the CEO asked as he narrowed his eyes at Mr. Penson "To confirm a certain suspicion of mine", Mr. Penson stated calmly, " and it was absolutely imperative that she be present sir. And well it turns out that my suspicion...was right" What purpose? What suspicion? What was Mr. Penson talking about? His words seemed well thought out, as though they held a deeper meaning that could only be understood by the one they were intended for. And judging by the sudden change in the CEO's expression, I think he got it. "I knew it!" Master Cole exclaimed as he walked toward us. I had forgotten he was even in the room. But more importantly, what was it exactly that he knew? "I wasn't the only one who noticed it. You did too John!" Master Cole gushed excitedly. Noticed what? "You're both overanalyzing something that isn't even there! I know what you're thinking, and for the last time, it isn't true" the CEO spoke through gritted teeth. "Oh isn't it?" Master Cole asked with a raised eyebrow,"then explain all the uncharacteristic sudden spacing out, Mr 'she is not my-' dot dot dot" She? As in me? Not likely. And wasn't what Master Cole just said part of the conversation between him and the CEO that I had accidentally overheard? The look that the CEO gave Master Cole after that was so frightening that it could have killed me ten times over! Master Cole immediately bowed his head and my urge to erode away returned with a vengeance. My only solace was Mr. Penson who still managed to stand his ground. I have respect for you sir! I cried to him internally with a mental fist pump. "Watch your tone Cole", the CEO said icyly, " don't forget whom you are talking to!" Master Cole gulped but still continued, "With all due respect sir, this is not a matter that will disapper just because we choose to ignore it. This is important, She is important!" Again with this mystery female...don't tell me they are arguing about an ex girlfriend in front of me! Do they even remember that I am still here? Again, not likely.
