Chapter 151

THE LIVING ROOM

"Honey, what is all this about?" Candela asked, seated on the sofa dressed in an elegant pink dress.

Next to her is Dante, seated as well, dressed in an ash-colored shirt and black trousers.

"Just a brief meeting, mum. Relax. We will be done in no time," Mario said, standing on his feet dressed in a black shirt and white trousers. His two hands are in his pockets and he is facing them.

"What are we waiting for though?" Dante asked, making Mario look at him.

"The rest of the family," Mario said.

Dante let out a sight, getting impatient already. He can't wait to get rid of Adrian and become the Don already.

He is tired of being ordered around by Adrian and his bratty son.

He would have gotten rid of Adrian if it wasn't for this bratty son of his.

He thought the fucking sweet news of Adrian's affair with that little girl actually turned Mario into Adrian's enemy. But Mario is still killing time, leaving Adrian chained up in the fucking cold room without doing anything to him.

Dante is freaking losing patience.

Even Mario notices that.

The sound of someone descending the stairs took their attention.

It was Alfredo and Mimi, dressed in their casual attires.

They got close to the living room and their eyes fell on Mario.

"Have a seat," Mario said.

Mimi and Alfredo took a seat on a different sofa.

Next, Carlos and Lucas approached from the stairs as well, claiming everyone's attention.

Dante scoffed.

"Are they involved too?" Candela asked.

"Yes, mum. They are family too," Mario said.

"This is ridiculous," Dante said.

"Chill, uncle. This meeting will favor you most," Mario said, making Dante raise his brows.

Mario smirked.

Dante shared a look with Candela as Lucas and Carlos stood behind the sofa Mimi and Lucas were seated on.

"Take a seat," Mario ordered.

Carlos and Lucas shared a look before walking towards another sofa and sitting on it.

"Perhaps we are complete then. Let's get on with whatever this is, son," Candela said.

"Your sister isn't here," Mario said.

Candela scoffed. "That woman is not relevant,"

Mimi threw her a glare.

"Soon, she will leave this mansion. I will make sure of that," Candela said.

"Don't worry, Candela, she is definitely leaving." Mimi spoke up, making everyone look at her.

Mario furrowed her brows.

"Did that brat just call me by my name?" Candela asked.

"I did. What are you going to do, Candela?" Mimi asked daringly, making Candela scowl at her.

"Mimi," Mario called, claiming Mimi's attention.

He shook her head slightly.

Her eyes softened.

A movement on the stairs took everyone's attention.

Dolores is descending the stairs with her luggage. She is dressed in a blue dress and has her purse on her shoulders.

Mario furrowed his brows in confusion.

Alfredo averted his eyes from her regardless of how his heart was reacting at the moment.

Dolores got to the last stairs and walked closer to the living room.

"Aunt, what are you doing?" Mario asked.

"I am leaving," Dolores said, looking at everyone.

Mimi stared at her with a tiny smile. Dolores eyes fell on Alfredo.

He is looking everywhere but her.

Her heart tightened as she looked at Mario.

"What do you mean? I don't understand."

"She meant she was leaving our fucking house. Don't you think it is high time they left? Her and her bratty daughter are nothing but burdens and pests," Candela said, making Mimi clench her jaw.

Lucas moved his eyes to Mimi, noticing her angry mood.

"Why are you with just your bag out here? What about your daughter?" Candela asked.

"Mum," Mario called.

"No, Mario. Both of them have to leave, not just one of them."

"I am not leaving. What are you going to do about that?" Mimi asked.

"This little...." Candela said, getting on her feet, but Dante held her hand.

She sat down, burning in rage as she scowled at Mimi.

Mimi rolled her eyes.

"Can we all please calm down and let's get this meeting over with?" Mario asked.

"I have to go," Dolores said.

"Please take a seat, aunt, after the meeting we will talk about this," Mario said.

"There is nothing to talk about. I have already made my decision," Dolores said.

"Please sit." Mario begged.

Sighing, she walked towards a different sofa and sat on it.

"Well, I guess we are complete then," Mario said.

"We sure are," Dante said.

"Okay. Family. We all know what happened at Uncle Alfredo's party. It wasn't expected, and it was like a dagger pierced into my heart," Mario said, making Dolores move her eyes to Alfredo.

He looked at her too but averted his eyes, making Dolores lower her gaze.

"We also know that my dad is chained up for this in the cold room."

"He deserves more punishment than what he is getting, Mario. He betrayed both of us," Candela said.

Mario scoffed slightly. "Yes, mum. He did betray us. Me, most especially. That's why I have decided to rip him off his position as the Don."

Dante and Candela smirked.

Lucas and Carlos shared a look.

Mimi and Alfredo furrowed their brows.

"You can't do that," Alfredo said.

"Yes I can,"

"Mario,"

"Shut your mother, lunatic," Candela snapped at Alfredo, making him look at her.

"I don't know why this friend of a betrayer is sitting here free. He should be chained up with Adrian. And that bitch, Irina too," Candela said.

Alfredo gritted his teeth.

"Pay attention, everyone," Mario said. "Adrian Morelli is no longer the Don."

"You can't make that decision, Mario. He has been the Don even before you were born," Alfredo said.

"Now, he is no longer one," Mario said.

"That's right," Candela said.

"Who is the new Don then?" Dante asked.

Mario smirked at him.

"You?" Dante asked.

Candela spoke up. "That's not..... "

"Yes, uncle. I am the new Don now. Don Mario Morelli," Mario said, looking at everyone.

They all shared a confused look.

"Seriously? You think you can be the Don just like that?" Dante asked.

Mario smirked.

Dante scoffed. "You think you can make yourself the Don with just mere words."

"Oh, I didn't make myself the Don, uncle." Mario said, making Candela and Alfredo furrow their brows at Mario.

"Who did?" Dante asked.

"I did," That husky, commanding male voice took everyone's attention at the entrance door to Adrian's office.

Adrian walked out of there dressed in a black shirt and black trousers, looking extremely handsome, as if he hadn't been chained in the cold room for two nights.

Dante and Candela got on their feet as surprise danced on their faces.

Mario smirked at them as Adrian stood next to Mario, looking at everyone.

His eyes fell on Alfredo.

Alfredo gave him a slight nod.

"What is the meaning of this shit?" Dante snarled, making Adrian look at him.

"How could you, Mario? How could you release him? Have you gone nuts?!" Candela yelled.

"Yes, Candela. I guess I have," Mario said.

"After all he did to us? He had an affair with that bitch you cherish so much! We almost got rid of him, but you insisted on doing it yourself. Only for you to release him two nights after? He is barely even tortured. What kind of a fool are you?!" Candela yelled, breathing hard.

"A type of fool who decided to choose a brilliant path," Mario said, smirking.

Candela glared at him.

Dante gritted his teeth angrily as he scowled at Adrian.

Adrian stared at him blankly.

"After I found out your plans to take both my dad and me, I decided to be a fool with sense," Mario said, making Candela's face twitch.

Everyone furrowed their brows in confusion.

"Yes, family. Dante and this bitch, Candela, have been having an affair under our noses," Mario said, making Mimi gasp in absolute surprise.

Others were as surprised as she was.

"The fuck?" Alfredo asked.

Candela stared at Mario blankly.

"This is one juicy news," Mimi quipped.

"Funny how she is pissed about dad's affair when she is also fucking his cousin," Mario said, looking at Dante.

Dante moved his eyes towards Mario, glaring at him.

Mario tilted his head.

"You want to be the Don so badly, huh?"

Dante clenched his jaw.

"A true blood is the least requirement to run a mafia. That's the reason your uncle handed all his assets to my dad instead of you, his worthless piece of shit nephew," Mario said, smirking.

Dante's blood boiled in anger.

"You will never be Done, Dante. Not when I am alive," Mario snarled.

Dante reached to take out his gun, but Adrian was fast enough to shoot him in the head.

"Ah!!!" Candela screamed as Dante's body limped and fell on the sofa.

"Dante!" Candela cried, staring at him.

She threw Adrian and Mario a glare. She quickly grabbed Dante's gun and was about to aim it at Adrian, but Dolores knocked her out and hard with a small statue, making everyone except Adrian and Mario flinch.

Candela's blood splashed on Dolores' face as Candela's body fell on the sofa too.

Dolores breathed hard as she stared at Candela.

Everyone stared at her.

Alfredo's heart reacted as he stared at her.

Dolores calmed a bit as she moved her gaze to Adrian. She locked eyes with him.

Alfredo noticed their gaze, but Dolores lowered hers.

Mario's phone rang as Adrian put his gun in his pocket.

"Julio," Mario said to the person over the phone.

"Clean up the mess," Adrian ordered.

Lucas and Carlos nodded as they got on their feet and moved towards Dante.

Mimi walked towards her mum and wrapped her in a hug as Alfredo walked towards Adrian.

Mario froze as he put down his phone.

"We have a problem, dad," Mario said, taking Adrian's and Alfredo's attention.

"What's wrong?" Adrian asked.

"Irina is dead,"

Adrian froze.

"What?!" Alfredo yelled, claiming others' attention.

"She was shot by De'vora's men," Mario said.

"De'vora?" Adrian asked as his heart picked up.

"What the fuck?" Alfredo blurted.

"Julio also found a purse and shoes around Irina's car and dead body," Mario said, looking at Adrian.

Adrian stared at him.

"It appears they belong to Evelyn," Mario said.

Adrian's heart dropped.

"But she is nowhere to be found," Mario asked.

"They took her," Alfredo said.

"That's the only explanation for that," Mario said.

"But how was she with Irina? Why would they kill Irina for Pete's sake?!" Alfredo asked.

"Irina took Eve to them," Adrian said, without looking at anyone as he processed how it happened.

Mario and Alfredo looked at him.

"They killed Irina for their own reasons," Adrian said.

"Fucking bastards," Alfredo said.

Adrian clenched his knuckles.

"What do we do?" Alfredo asked.

"Well, I guess we have to go get your girl, dad" Mario said, making Adrian look at him.

Alfredo looked at Mario too.

Mario stared at Adrian for a while.

"Come on," Mario said, walking away.

Adrian's eyes softened as he stared at Mario.

DE'VORA'S MANSION.....

PRISON ROOM.....

Fredrick, Evelyn's father, hummed as he caressed Evelyn's hair. She is resting her head on his lap, and he is humming her favorite song like he usually does when she was little and about to go to sleep.

Tears rolled down her eyes as she stared at a random place while her dad caressed her hair.

Next, the door opened instantly, making them flinch. Four men walked in, approaching them.

Evelyn's heart dropped.

"What is going on?" Her dad asked, but the men picked them up.

"What do you bastards want?!" he yelled.

"Leave me alone," Evelyn cried as the men dragged both of them out of the room.

"Dad," Evelyn cried.

"I am here, Pumpkin. They won't hurt you, I promise," her dad assured her as the men dragged them along the hallway and down the stairs.

Evelyn's heart pounded as the men dragged them towards the peak of the hall where she saw her mother seated on the huge seat and her nanny was standing next to her.

The men placed Evelyn in front of her mum and released her, but the other men held her dad behind her.

"What do you want to do this time, Louisa?!" Evelyn's dad yelled as Evelyn stared at her mother with tears in her eyes.

Louisa didn't respond but got on her feet and walked towards Evelyn. Evelyn stared at her boldly, but Louisa grabbed Evelyn's face instantly, earning a flinch from Evelyn.

"Leave her alone!" Evelyn's dad yelled, struggling with the men's grips.

Louisa ignored him as she studied Evelyn's face. She moved Evelyn's face to side, searching for whatever Evelyn had no idea of.

Evelyn feels terrified but she is masking it.

"Annamarie," Louisa called.

"Yes, ma'am?" Annamarie said.

"What do you think?" Louisa asked, releasing Evelyn's face and taking a step back as she studied Evelyn's body.

"It is correct," Annamarie said.

Evelyn looked at Annamarie.

"She is pregnant,"

Evelyn froze.
