Chapter 139

The note has the name, "EVE" written at the top of it.

I smiled, opening it.

It read, "I had to go. Business calls. You promised to take your meds. Don't hesitate to do that. I will see you soon.

\-Adrian"

I read the last sentence again, smiling widely as I thought of seeing him soon as he said.

Why can't it be now?!

I want to see him now.

I heaved a sigh, smiling again as I stared at the note.

Can he be more perfect? His writing is as gorgeous as he is.

I smiled, placing the note on my chest. I noticed that the drip was disconnected from my vein.

I guess he did that too.

I smiled as I recalled all he said to me last night.

It wasn't a dream.

He literally told me all that.

It is forever glued to my head. It will play like music to my hearts all the time.

I need to take my meds.

I promised, remember?

I reached for it but I stopped myself.

I need to eat breakfast first.

Yeah.

I got out of bed and fixed it. Lulu got on the bed instantly.

"Hey, sweetie," I called, reaching for her and picking her up.

"How are you?" I asked, caressing her fur.

I walked towards the bathroom to wash up.

Like he said, I smell like meds.

And he kissed me right after.

Giggling, I placed Lulu down and walked into the bathroom.

Not long later, I was done. I walked out of the room, dried my body, applied lotion and body spray before wearing a stay-at-home dress.

I decided to have bread and jam for breakfast before taking my meds. I sat on my bed while eating as I stared at the meds on the nightstand.

The thought of it is always excruciating, but I have to take them.

I promised Adrian.

I have to do as he says.

Nah.

I want to do as he says.

I want to do anything he wants!

I finished up my bread and reached for meds. I was about to take them when....

I heard the sound of the door opening and closing.

"Evie!" Imogen's loud voice made me roll my eyes as I took my meds instantly without thinking too much.

"Evie!" I heard her call as she approached the room. I looked at her as I drank water.

She stared at me with surprise dancing on her face.

I put down the glass and smiled at her.

"Hey," I said happily.

She scoffed, placing her bag on the bed while still staring at me weirdly.

I shrugged. "What?"

"I knew you were sick because of that man. All I had to do was call him here and boom! Look at you, you are back to normal," she said, making me roll my eyes but smiling as well.

"You annoying girl," she said.

"I don't know what you are talking about, Imo. I just took my meds and I need to....."

"You finally took meds?" She blurted.

"What the...."

"Evie, you refused to take them yesterday. You actually frustrated the heck out of me. I had no choice but to call him," she said, sitting next to me.

"About that, how could you do that when you know I am upset with him, huh?" I asked.

She scoffed. "He helped, didn't he?"

I rolled my eyes, looking away.

"He freaking helped, Evie. Look at you! I can't find the paleness anymore or the fever. He literally took it away in just one day. Very interesting." She teased, making my cheek heat up as my heart fluttered.

"That's because he came with his doctor friend," I said.

She scoffed. "Yeah right. You fucking know what I am talking about, Evie. Don't twist it."

I raised my hands slightly in surrender.

"Fine. Maybe he helped me out a little," I said.

"He helped you a lot. Hell, he is your recovery." she said.

"Imogen,"

"What?"

I heaved a sigh. "Alright, you win."

"I know that. I always win," she said, picking up Lulu.

"He told me a lot of things last night," I said, blushing as I recalled last night.

She hummed. "Oh wow. Spill everything," she said, eager to hear everything.

I chuckled a bit.

"But hey, you should see the way he looked at you all through yesterday," she said, making my heart react.

"Trust me, he didn't look like someone who said, and I quote, 'you don't exist to me anymore."

I smiled.

"Girl, he might be a composed man, but I could see worry in his eyes yesterday by the way he was looking at you."

I giggled slightly but happily as my heart fluttered.

"Just one call, and he appeared in a flash. He really cares for you, you know. I feel like he did what he did for a valid reason."

I nodded. "That's what he said,"

"Really?"

"Yeah. I guess I was wrong about him. But I still don't understand why he thinks I am in danger though," I said, furrowing my brows a bit.

Imogen stared at me.

"He said I will get hurt if we continue this thing between us," I said.

"Do you think his family wants to hurt you?"

I shrugged. "I can't tell,"

"Perhaps you should stay away from him to be safe," she said.

"Well...... That's if I care about my safety," I said, awaiting response with a smile.

She scoffed. "Wow, the crazy romantic is back."

I chuckled.

"You need to tell me all he said to you. Come on,"

"I will, but I have to let my meds digest a bit," I quipped.

"Evie!"

I chuckled, making her frown playfully at me.

"He said he missed fucking me,"

She gasped. "Damnnnnn,"

I nodded. "Uh huh,"

"What else, what else?"

I chuckled.

TWO WEEKS LATER.........

IN CLASS........

"Let's talk about the Second World War. We can't leave it out while talking about this. It is very crucial to this lesson." Our professor went all as I stared at my notebook with my mind elsewhere.

I am currently seated in my favorite spot with Imogen next to me and the filled-up class is focused on Professor James, my favorite professor.

I call him my favorite because he really knows how to lecture and you would understand quickly.

Imogen likes him too. But even though he is my favorite, I can't seem to pay attention because of anyone.

It has been two weeks!

What happened to, 'I will see you soon?'

I heaved a sigh, moving my pen into my notebook. I can't reach him because he hasn't unblocked my line.

I tried calling him on Imogen's phone, but he didn't pick up.

This is getting annoying.

I thought he didn't want to be apart from me anymore.

Two freaking weeks are literally apart.

Geez.

I heaved a sigh, but I sensed Imogen leaning closer to me.

"What's up with you?" She whispered.

I shrugged slightly.

"Nothing," I whispered back.

"This class is pretty interesting," she said.

I nodded. "It is always interesting," I said, and she leaned away.

Interesting, but I did not hear a thing.

I want Adrian.

Should I fall sick again so he can appear to me immediately?

I just want to see him badly.

I miss him so much.

Patience, Evelyn.

Patience.

HOURS LATER.......

Imogen and I walked out of the school building looking tired as always as other students walked towards their various destinations.

"Today was something," Imogen said.

I nodded. "Yeah,"

"You were absent-minded all through. Why is that?"

I furrowed my brows. "No I wasn't."

She scoffed. "You can't lie to me, Evie."

I heaved a sigh. "Fine. I just miss Adrian. It has been two weeks and I haven't seen or heard from him. It is getting frustrating," I whined.

"He might be busy or something. I hardly see Mario in school. They might be busy with mafia business and all that," she said.

I nodded. "I guess so."

"Just be patient, Evie. He said he would see you soon, right?"

I nodded.

"Well, that worried man I saw that day will definitely come see you. You just have to relax and wait faithfully. Just like we Christians waiting for the second coming of Christ," she said.

I looked at her. "Gosh, Imogen, no one knows when he would come. That's like waiting without being certain what year he would come."

"Exactly my point."

I let out a frustrated sigh.

She chuckled.

I rolled my eyes.

"I need to hurry back home," she said, stopping us in our tracks.

"My mum and I are going to the Whites' beach house for the weekend," she said.

"Are they still in town?" I asked.

"Yeah. I guess they will be staying here for a while before they go back."

"That's nice."'

"Yeah."

"Say hi to Nadia for me."

"I will," she sang, leaning closer and we hugged.

"Bye," she sang, walking away.

"Bye," I muttered as I watched her walking in another direction as sadness filled me.

I guess it is just me and Lulu this weekend.

How sweet.

I continued walking as I thought about how boring my weekend would be.

I stared at my feet as I walked, recalling that night with Adrian.

All he said to me.

I am beginning to think......

No, no, Evelyn. It is just two weeks.

You can't conclude now. Maybe after a month or.....

I scoffed. A month?

God, what if he really gets to a month without seeing him?

I let out a sad sigh.

My phone rang, making me stop on my track. I reached to take it out of my bag.

That might be Imogen.

I stared at the caller ID.

It was an unknown number.

I furrowed my brows slightly as I took the call.

Placing it close to my ear....

"Hello?" I said as I looked ahead and what I saw made me freeze.

A black van which seemed familiar, and two men dressed in black attires stood next to the van.

"Why are you walking alone, little girl?" That perfect husky voice blew joy into my ear, making me freeze.

Oh my.....

"Where is your friend?"

His voice has never been this sexy.

"Adrian?" I almost whispered.

"How are you feeling?" he asked.

I couldn't help but smile like a kid as I bit my fingers.

God, I missed his voice! I missed everything about him.

"I am better," I said.

"Perfect,"

God, my cheeks. I held my cheek, feeling it heating up.

"What do you see?" he asked, returning my attention to the van.

"Tell me what you see, little girl,"

Fuck.

"A familiar van and men dressed in black attires," I said.

"Can you be a good girl for me and get into the van?"

My heart danced with joy like never before.

"Can you do that, little girl?"

With pleasure, sir.

"Yes, sir," I said.

"Hurry," he said, hanging up.

Lulu, I am sorry, sweetie, but it seems like the apartment is yours for the weekend.

My heaven calls.

A FEW MINUTES LATER.......

I got out of the van and my heart fluttered as I stared at my new favorite place.

Adrian's second mansion.

The fact that it is located on the outskirts of town is very exciting.

I am about to have some alone time with my favorite person.

One of the men gestured and I went in.

I headed towards the entrance door with the men following me behind as I thought of Adrian.

God, I can't wait to see him.

We got into the mansion, but I didn't see him around as my eyes roamed in search of him.

Maybe he is......

"Don Morelli," one of the men behind me said, taking my attention towards the stairs and there he was.

Dressed in a black tank top and gray sweatpants, descending the stairs like a fucking king.

My heart has never felt delighted to see him.

That's one tall bottle of sweet, sweet, champagne.

In his gorgeous glory.

His eyes rested on me as he approached.

I couldn't help but smile as my heart danced.

He stood a few steps away from me as he looked at the men.

"That will be all," he said.

"Yes, sir," the men said, and I sensed them walking away while I fed my eyes on HIM.

I heard the door close and his eyes moved back to me.

A smile formed on my lips as I stared at him.

"Hey,"

He didn't say a word but kept staring at me.

"I missed....." I trailed off the minute he took fast unexpected steps towards me, grabbed my face and crashed his lips on mine.

Good God!
