Chapter 84
As soon as they reached the summit and both settled down, Alec and Evangeline agreed who would leave the bathroom first. Alec decides to do it and goes straight to the bar. When the redhead does the same, she faces the man who was at the bathroom door and gives him a bland smile. She couldn’t stop thinking that he knew exactly what had happened in that bathroom.
After spending considerable time with Samuel and noticing that her almost ex-husband is no longer there, Evangeline makes a proposal to Alec.
"Allegra will spend the weekend at a friend’s house... want to sleep in my apartment?”
Alec smiled wide with that question. So after saying goodbye to Samuel, the two go to Evie’s car and she drives quickly to his building. Neither of them were able to wait for arrival in the room. The shoes and clothes began to be taken in the living room, so that the two already met naked, when they fell into bed.
At every moment, they looked at each other with love and affection, their hearts beating in unison. Every gesture, every touch, every look revealed the deep love they felt for each other.
As they kissed, Alec caressed Evangeline’s hair, feeling the sweet scent that exhaled from him. He embraced her even stronger, feeling her heart beating in tune with his, and wondering how he had been able to live away from her for so many years.
For a moment, they turned away from each other, looking deeply into each other’s eyes. Alec took Evie’s hand and led her to his heart, so she could feel the beats of his love for her.
She smiled, moved, feeling the happiness and security that only his love provided her. She hugged him again, feeling the warmth of his body in her arms.

It was past three o'clock in the morning when Evangeline’s phone started ringing. She came out of the cozy spoon that Alec provided and answered without even seeing who it was.
"Hello?”
"Evangeline, sorry to call you... it’s me, Tiffany. Sabrina’s mother.”
"Hi!" Knowing who it was, made Evangeline sit hurriedly, already worried that something might have happened to her daughter. "Is everything okay?”
"I’m not sure. Allegra woke up and started asking to leave. I tried to convince her to wait till dawn, but I couldn’t. We are down here.”
"I’m coming down.”
The abrupt way Evangeline left the bed woke Alec up. He scratched his eyes and looked towards her, who wore a robe over the lingerie he wore.
"What happened?" he asks.
"I don’t know. Allegra’s down there, so I’m gonna go get her. Don’t move, please.”
She even waits for a confirmation from Alec and hurries to leave the apartment. As soon as she gets to the ground floor, she sees her daughter still in pajamas, hugging her favorite stuffed animal, with her friend’s mother next to her.
"Hey..." Upon hearing her mother’s voice, Allegra raised her head and ran to her, hugging her instantly. "What happened, dear?" the girl shakes her head negatively. "Tiffany, thank you for bringing her. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
"No trouble, Evangeline. When you know what happened, please tell me.”
"Sure. Thank you, good night!”
The other woman smiles and quickly walks away. Without detaching, Evie and Allegra climb up and go directly to the girl’s room. As soon as she makes the girl lie down, Evie snuggles up next to her and caresses her head.
"You want to tell me now?”
"I’m not sure what happened." he says, clinging even more to his plush. "My phone started ringing and I answered. There was no number and I could only hear one breath. I hung up and called again. Many times." the girl turns her face, to look at her mother. "Mom, it was so bad... I can not explain, but I felt a horrible thing with those calls.”
"Easy, love." Evie kisses Allegra’s forehead and squeezes against herself. "It must have been someone lacking in what to do. It was no big deal. Try to relax and sleep. You are home and safe.”
"Stay here until I sleep?”
"Of course, dear.”
Evangeline tries to believe what she said to her daughter, while muttering a lullaby. There was no reason for it to be the opposite of that.
Less than half an hour later, Allegra fell asleep and Evangeline left her alone in the room. After drinking water, she returns to her suite and finds Alec awake.
"All right?" he asks, raising the cover for her to lie down. "How is Allegra?”
"She got some prank calls and she got scared.”
"And now she’s calmer? Did she sleep?”
"Yes..." Evie yawns, clinging to Alec’s body. "Will you leave tomorrow?”
"I will. I have an appointment with my partner right after lunch.”
"You already had this meeting scheduled, even before I told you my decision?" she asks, playing with his fingers. "What if I said no?”
Alec kisses her head and lets out a low laugh.
"I left New York, already with the meeting scheduled. Although I doubted at times, I was sure you would come with me. In fact, do you want to come tomorrow? I took a jet.”
"I can’t. I got my job and Allegra the school. And if we really went to another city, I need to get organized.”
"It’s two things so easy to solve... a transfer to Allegra and a new job for you. Please! I’m not able to stay away from you anymore.”
Evangeline smiles at the way Alec thinks. She gets up, lays a brief kiss on Alec and turns the other way, hoping he will embrace her.
"Tomorrow we’ll talk about it and anything else. Come." Evie pulls his arm. "Let’s go to sleep.”
Although he wanted to prolong that conversation and decide his whole future with Evangeline, once and for all, Alec also lies down, hugs the woman of his life and falls asleep gradually, feeling the sweet scent of her hair.
