Chapter 115: Time To Go

FIVE DAYS LATER...

“I don’t feel like leaving anymore,” said Jack as he relaxes under a palm tree.

Jasmine was laying on a pale wood sofa beside Jack’s. She never thought Jack could ever think of loving the villages for the souls of humans that have found rest. Days ago, he has been pestering Azulu who was in charge of the rest of the souls to help solve the puzzle on how to get their asses out of the land of the dead. Jasmine cast a side gaze at Jack and asked sternly, “Why do you suddenly like this place?”

Jack quickly pulls himself up. Leaning on the edge of the pale wood sofa, he spoke in a soft voice. “Look around my darling wife…” Pausing for a second, he took a deep breath and continued. “It has been peaceful and safe since we got to this village. No whisperer, no ghost-banshee, and no bitchy goddess or obsessed Incubus.”

Since there got to the village of the souls of humans that have found rest, they have enjoyed peace. The village of the souls of humans that have found rest is one of the safest places anyone could think of in the land of the dead. Although this particular village isn’t the only village for the souls that have found rest, there are still quite a number of them in far locations.

“I know my darling but you still have a quest to finish.”

Seems like Jack have suddenly forgotten his quest. The one and the only quest he has was the sole reason why the black crystal is in his body. In case he has forgotten, he needed to be reminded. Sending the Azul’s demon clan to paradise is his job and he has to finish what he has started. Staying in the land of the dead will do no good to him or the demons waiting for him to help them get to paradise.

“That’s right.” Jack leans back on the pale wood sofa. He continued in his soft tone. “What if we do not find a way out of the land of the dead?”

Jasmine slowly sat up. She placed her hand on Jack’s pale wood sofa and whispered into his ears. “Have faith, my dear husband.”

Nothing has happened to show they are getting closer to solving the puzzle since they got to the land of the dead. It’s from one fight or another. Staying in the village of the souls of humans that have found rest has been of no help to them. Azulu couldn’t offer much help neither could his followers.

No one seems to know how to help them escape the land of the dead.

Not quite long, Azulu makes his way to Jack and Jasmine. He cleared his throat and greeted them. After which he handed a parchment to Jack. “You need to read this,” he said.

“What’s this?” Jack asked sternly as he unfolds the parchment.

With curiosity, Jasmine quickly drew closer to Jack. She peeped through the parchment and read the words loudly: “A demon traveling through our land with a human touched by the demonic evil power is wanted. Anyone who has information about them should let us know at once.”

Jasmine’s curiosity wasn’t satisfied after reading from the parchment. She knew the message was referring to her and Jack. She quickly stood to her feet. She cast her gaze on Azulu and spoke in a mean tone, “How did you get this?”

“My courier just delivered it to me a while ago.”

Jack was short of words. He didn’t know what to say. He could sense the mean look on Jasmine’s face. He could tell Jasmine has been enraged and if she isn’t calmed, she could burn down the entire village. From behind, he slowly wrapped his arms around Jasmine’s waist and whispered into her ears. “Let me handle this, my queen… please.”

After convincing Jasmine, Jack and Azulu walked a few paces away from Jasmine. Casting his gaze on Azulu he asked sternly. “Where did the parchment come from?”

Azulu clears his throat and spoke up. “I am certain it’s from the Imperial Prince of the land of the dead.”

“Who the hell is the Imperial Prince?” Jack inquired with a wide-eyed gaze on Azulu.

Azulu clears his throat once more and began to speak. “The Imperial Prince claims to be the one in charge of the land of the dead. Quite a number of us have not seen him. Only those he chooses to reveal himself to get the chance to see him.”

“Then how did you know the parchment was from him?”

Jack knew that their arrival in the land of the dead has drawn many enemies to their way. But for this unknown Imperial Prince who Azulu says he’s in charge of the land of the dead, he has never crossed paths with him and has not done anything wrong for him to send such a message across the land of the dead.

“The parchment has his seal on it.”

This isn’t the first time Azulu has seen publications made by the Imperial Prince and sent across the land of the dead. In every publication made by the Imperial Prince, there are always two sickles crossing at the foot of the publication's parchment or wanted poster. These two sickles crossing serves as the seal the Imperial Prince uses to notify the creatures and beings in the land of the dead that what they read came from him.

“And you have not seen this Imperial Prince?” Jack inquired with a concerned look on his face.

“No, I have not. I think you and your demon wife should leave our village. We do not want to be a party to whatever…”

Jack cuts in sharply without letting Azulu finish. “Are you sending us away?” Jack asked.

“I’m just trying to keep the souls under my care safe.”

Azulu’s countenances were written with fear. He didn’t want the wrath of the Imperial Prince to fall on his village. He has heard stories of villages in the land of the dead that was destroyed by the Imperial Prince. Not everyone has seen the Imperial Prince but those who only hear of his name, shiver in fear.
