Chapter 10: Chapter Ten

Catherine POV

I never thought that I would see Alex act so kind towards me, it was strange but I was happy to see that he was not the monster that Sandy had seen him to be and I was going to be with a kind hearted soul. I didn't want to lose this moment I was having with him and it was one of the best things that I have experienced in a long time.

‘This cant be a dream and I know that there is no way for me to do anything to mess it up.’ I smiled as I prepared for work about to leave for the day, I knew that it was going to be one of the best days of my week.

“Cathy?” Alex called out to me before he left the house, I didnt know what made the feeling better. The way he called me Cathy or the fact that he has not yelled or threatened to hit me since morning. I rushed to him to know why he called.

“Yes dear.” He was done preparing for work, I knew that he wanted to tell me something but what made him so happy that he was not even going to get angry at me for the little reasons that he would normally get angry for but then there was no way for me to tell what was making him this happy.

“I will be back late, I don't need you to stay up late waiting for me. I know that you will want to wait for me but I am telling you that there is no need for you to.” Alex was very happy and I could see that he was not joking.

“Okay, I will not stay up and I will make sure that I make your dinner. I will make it your favourite.” I smiled, I knew there was no way for me to mess anything up with him and I knew I was going to be happy.

Alex kissed me on the forehead and left for work. I never thought that there would be a time in my life with Alex that I was going to feel butterflies in my tummy again and this was the best feeling ever and I didnt want to stop feeling this way about him.

*

It was the first time in how many years that I left for work with a smile on my face and I was sure that there was no way for me to feel sad today, I went to work feeling fulfilled and happy. Everyone saw me looking at me, it was noticeable and everyone wanted to know what was making me feel so happy.

I did not answer but smiled, Rachel came over to my corner. “You seem awfully happy, c’mon what's the big news?” She asked as she leaned over to look into my corner.

“It’s no big deal, I just feel happy and I want it to remain that way forever.” I smiled like I knew that there was nothing going to go away anytime soon.

“Hmm, I have not seen you like this in forever. I really want you to always be this happy and not worry alot about everything.” Rachel smiled, I knew that she was really saying this from her heart and she never wanted to see me sad in any way.

I looked around and I felt so happy and fulfilled, there was nothing going to stop me from winning. The feeling I was having was the best and I knew that there was nothing going to stop me from getting anything that I wanted. But then it was clear that my relationship with Alex was going to get better from here and I knew that nothing was going to be able to ruin it.

I waited eagerly for the work day to be over so that I could get home and make Alex’s dinner. I knew that he was going to be happy when he got back home and I knew that he was going to be thrilled.

I made his dinner and cleaned the house, I was trying to make sure that there was nothing going to make him feel out of place or even angry when he got home.

After everything was done, I sat down and began going through my phone. I was so happy and thrilled that I was just so happy going through my phone slowly.

A call came in from Sandra, I wondered what made her call. I bet she was worried that she didn't see me, and she might have thought that there was something wrong with me.

“Hello Sandy, what's up?”

“I was worried sick! I thought they kidnapped you, I am glad that you're okay.” She sounded so worried over the phone. I knew that she was worried about me and I could feel it when she said that she was worried about me.

“I am okay, I just went home early. I had to make dinner for Alex and I was so busy that I forgot to tell you that I was not going to be coming by. I hope I didn't make you worry much?”

“I was worried sick, I really thought that you were hurt and that I had lost my friend.”

“Nah I'm okay.”

“You sound happy? Did you get a promotion or did Alex finally propose to you?”

“None of that, I'm just happy.” I didn't know that my happiness could be felt from the other side of the phone.

“Well, are you free now?”

The question was unexpected, I looked at the clock and it was just 5 pm and I knew that Alex was not going to be home anytime soon so I knew that I had enough time in my hand.

“Yeah, is there any problem?”

“Well, I bumped into Clara, and she wants us to hang out like old times at her place before she goes back. So I want to know if you're free so we can go to a party.”

I knew that Alex would blow a fuse if he found out that I went out with people. But then I wanted to see Clara’s family. I promised her and I wanted to make sure that I kept my promise.

“Well?”

I knew it was going to be a risky game, but still. “Okay, I will be there in ten minutes.”
