Chapter 23
Kade’s pov-
“Have a good time tonight Kade!” I heard Mrs. Cross yell from somewhere in the living room.
I only managed a grunt as I closed the door behind me.

I was well aware that she was trying to help me. But where was she when my mom was struggling? Where was she when mom cried out for her? Where the hell was she when I saw my mother’s lifeless body littered with tiny injection scars that looked raw?
Where the hell was she?
She was like everyone else. They don’t care about me. A couple more months until I’m eighteen and I’ll be out of her hair.
A flash of a cute red-faced Mia crept into my mind and I nearly stagger as I descend the steps leading to the the sidewalk where Brian’s very recognizable car is parked.
From the moment I got here, I made it my mission to not form any connection with anyone whatsoever. I didn’t want to feel what my mom felt all those years when everyone turned their back on her.
But then my eyes fell on her. She was tiny and her features were baby-like. All I could picture in that moment was those doe like eyes looking up at me as I thrust into her.
There wasn’t any doubt in my mind that I was attracted to Mia Cross. I’d be a fool not too. She screamed innocence, something my dark heart desired.
But she was untouchable.
She was like those pretty roses you want so badly, yet you don’t want to ruin the lovely petals.
I sighed. For the first time in my life, I wanted something so badly. Yet, I couldn’t touch it.

“Thought you weren’t going to show up,” Brian said, head poking out of the rolled down window as he send me a grin.
The guy has been trying to befriend me from the moment I stepped foot in the school halls.
We weren’t friends. That’s something I didn’t want. But he’d be good for an acquaintance, especially if his sister can hopefully manage to keep my mind off of Mia.
But I doubt it. I couldn’t stop thinking about her, or her desirable figure.
“Had to check up on something,” I said in a clipped tone as I entered the car.
Brianna’s at the back, and manages to wrap her arms around me and the seat. “You live with Mia Cross?” She asked softly. My eyes drop to her pink painted nails, her fingers digging into my white shirt..
Brian’s interest is suddenly pulled and he turns to give me a questioning look. “Yeah. Her mom’s my legal guardian now,” I murmured, looking up at the Cross’s house. It wasn’t lavish or screamed wealthy. But it did look homey and I knew they were well off with their jobs taking in to consideration.
Brianna’s nails dug into my chest and I fought the urge to peel her hands off me. “So she’s like your sister! How cute!” She purrs, her face coming between the seats and planting a kiss on my jaw.
I don’t respond or correct her. Because there was no way, in any way, Mia Cross would ever be my sister or will I ever have

thoughts about her in a brotherly way. Not when my cock sprang to action for her.

But I’d like to keep that information to myself. In fact, I rather Brianna make me forget the girl sleeping in the room opposite mine.
“Guess what color panty I’m wearing.” Brianna’s purrs in my ear lowly as she takes a hold of my hand and slowly brings it on her thighs, just below the ends of her black dress. ” I wore them tonight for you,”
My eyes fall to the dress and I found myself preferring the color red. And the creamy flesh of Mia instead of the fake tan of Brianna’s.
I clenched my eyes. I was supposed to forget about her. Not compare her beauty with others that didn’t quite reach her standards yet. Don’t get me wrong Brianna was beautiful in her own way, just didn’t lure me in as Mia did.
Brianna who may have thought my frustrations was something else, giggles seductively and guides my fingers under the thin material of her dress.
Everyone was too drunk out of their minds to pay attention to us. And if they weren’t, they didn’t seem to mind. The fire crackles in my ear, drowning out the sounds of their laughter and Brianna’s words.
I stare blankly at the fire, wondering why I agreed to come here.
Suddenly Brianna stops and I’m drawn back to give her my attention when she starts to speak to her brother who sat on the log beside us. He was engrossed in his phone for a while now.
“You think it’s her?” Brianna asked.
Brian nod and showed her the screen of his phone. It showed the entire view of the front of the house. A camera. “I’m sure it’s her car. I’ll go welcome her.” He says getting up.
“I’ll come with!” Brianna yells after him and gets up. She turns to me, her eyes flashing. “I’ll be back,

Before I could ask her who they’re going to greet, her legs had already landed her quite far away from me.
But after a couple of minutes she emerges back, with someone attached to her side. Someone I couldn’t resist looking it. It was almost magnetic as my eyes fall on her.
The way her innocent eyes danced around, seeming to be lost. The way her plump lips work as they spoke to Brianna. She was fucking beautiful.
My eyes skim down her body, drinking in the sight of her desirable curves.
But she was also a damn headache.
When I saw her in her room. It took everything in me to not do something that will blur the line I placed between us.
She was undeniably the most sexiest girl here tonight. But she was also the most untouchable one too.
If only we would have met under different circumstances and my life wasn’t so fucked up. Then maybe, just maybe, I’d act on that hunger I felt for her.
My jaw ticked in anger. If I thought she was alluring then every other guy thought so also. My eyes burned through the red material. As much as I love red on her, I don’t like how revealing the dress was.
Teenage boys were horny fuckers. I didn’t want their slimy fingers on her. Any part of her. I didn’t want them to ruin her.

Her eyes, so beautiful, so doe like falls into mine. I saw her sharp in take of breath and the way her eyes widen when she notices my anger.
Good. That means she know she’s in trouble for not heeding my warning.
But in the back of my head, I admit that her defiance was annoying but also such a huge fucking turn on.
