Chapter 165: MY NAME IS ANSEL AND I’M 10 TIMES STRONGER
Titus began to laugh. “How convenient for you all to believe the Alpha would lay down and give you his head without a fight.”
Max took a deep breath before starting her car. She hasn’t heard from her brother in days. Reaching him through a mindlink was also impossible. It had never happened before, and it bothered her. She started her car and drove away from the school. As she drove, she was overcome with mourning over Uncle Theodore’s death. The fact that he had abandoned them was still unbelievable.
Max came to a halt when she saw two cars in the distance blocking her path. She turned off her engine and looked forward. She saw a slim, tall woman and two men approach her. Max waited in her car for a while to see if they were actually coming towards her.
“Your name must be Max. The pale sister of Alexander Terry,” said the woman, smiling.
Max was inquisitive. “And who are you? How do you know my name?”
“My name is Patricia, and I will need help from you.”
“How can I help you?” Max looked around. “Why? What help can a girl like me provide you?”
Patricia laughed softly. “You have no idea how much help you can offer. First, I will need to understand how to get to the territory. Your werewolf territory.”
Max’s eyes widened. Do they know about her? She has to act dumb. “What are you talking about? Werewolf? You sound insane.”
“Girl, don’t try to play dumb with me. We know who you are, and... Ah! Before I forget, I have something to tell you. I understand you have been having trouble finding your brother.”
Max tightened her grip on her fingertips even more. It’s over if she breaks now, but they understand how worried she is about her brother. How is this so? She glanced at them. Do they truly know where her brother is, or are they are merely trying to get words out of her mouth?
“I know where your brother is, and if you want to see him, you will need to help us find the territory.”
“See him?”
“That’s the truth.”
Max scoffed. “Do you really think I’m a fool? My brother isn’t easy to find...” She took a sniff. “Humans.”
“Do you think we’re kidding?”
“If you know where my brother is and who I am, I need proof.”
“We have him with us. Tortured and imprisoned. Have you heard of monkshood?”
Max let out a gasp. “You are the hunter.”
“You’re smarter than you look. You must ditch your pack in order to save your brother. Which will you choose? You have two hours to make your decision.” Patricia took out her business card. “Call this number when you have made your decision. If you call a minute later, you risk losing your brother, so think carefully.” Patricia smirked and turned towards her car. Max looked down at the card in her hand and started yelling along with her sobbing as she watched the car drive away.
* * * *
“There are far too many of them, Titus.” As he smashed down one of the rogues, Tyler said. They had been fighting for more than seven hours, and it appeared that the rogues would never stop. The more they kill, the more rogues they become.
“We need to keep fighting, Tyler. We can’t give up now.” Titus said as the two of them backed up against each other, slaying the approaching werewolf. The wolves surrounded Tyler and Titus, staring at each other and growling angrily. “If you get tired, have your wolf switch places with you.” Titus added.
Titus’s attention was drawn to the sound of rattled bones emanating from outside the surrounding werewolves. Titus then heard howling and pawed the ground, nervously. The scent of this unique wolf made Devil shiver. “What’s the problem?” Titus asked the Devil.
“The smell from Selena’s school. Seems like he is here.”
Titus began to recognize the smell. “You’re correct. It’s extremely strong. Are you telling me that I have an enemy of this type too?”
“You have got so many enemies, Titus. It looks like you will not be partying anytime soon. Switch with me. Let’s get this out of the way.
“Are you sure?”
“I’m the Alpha wolf, and this is my territory. Anyone who enters will die.” Titus changed into his wolf in an instant. He also observed Tyler’s transformation.
“You will be fine, Tyler. I have an important werewolf to battle with.” Titus said. He growled as he attacked the werewolves all at once and escaped the circle. Titus appeared in front of the werewolf, whose scent terrified Devil. “You.” Titus was surprised when he saw the color of the werewolf. It was black. The Alpha is the only animal with black fur.
“The Alpha. Finally.” Titus was surprised to see the werewolf’s white eyes when he turned around.
“You are not an Alpha, but your fur is black. What are you?”
“My name is Ansel. I’m sure you have never heard of it. I’ll enlighten you; I’m very rare and ten times stronger than you ever will be, Alpha. I could kill you right now if I wanted to, but it would be too easy. I want you to partake in the pain first.”
“Ansel? No wonder the Devil was scared. Why have you chosen to fight me? I don’t remember ever making you angry.”
The werewolf began laughing. His upper lip curled around his razor-sharp incisors. “You have no idea how long I’ve been looking forward to this moment. I’ll reveal who I really am when you’re on your deathbed.”
Titus let out a growl from deep within his throat. “Quit bluffing.” Without saying anything, he charged at Ansel, claws spread and ready to kill.
Titus and Ansel collided, tearing at each other but avoiding each other. Ansel slashed at Titus, severing his car. Titus barely noticed when he bit into Ansel’s exposed shoulder. The werewolf howled and tried to shake him off. Titus tried to hold on, but his teeth slipped, and he flew back, colliding with the pack of wolves. The werewolves in this pack jumped back, snarling and encouraging him to get up. Titus provided for his paws, and his ears for his head.
Ansel hunched his back and growled at Titus. “You are frail!” Titus snapped and charged at Ansel the werewolf. Ansel smiled as he leaped over Titus and grabbed his tail. Titus yelped as he was yanked backward and thrown into a thick tree, and his ribs cracked. He landed with a thud, breathing heavily and wincing from the exertion.
Ansel approached him, a smirk on his muzzle. He soon towered over Titus, who kept his head down and snarled in warning. Ansel was paying close attention, raising his paw to finish the pathetic werewolf, when he was abruptly shoved aside. Titus’ ears perked up, and he looked up to see Tyler standing above him, holding a large tree branch. “I will take over.” Tyler said.
“He is far too powerful; I will confront him.” Titus rose and turned to face Ansel, who had risen from the floor.
