Hania stormed out of the house in a rage. She yelled as she stepped into the car. She checked the time and discovered that it was nearly 5:30 p.m. She drove away and came to a stop in front of the woods. As Hania stepped down, she reached for the gun in her luggage. She put in her earplugs and started matching. No one would hear her shoot because this wood is not frequented. She spread her legs and started aiming for the tree. Her first shot did not land on target. She was boiling with rage. She fired another shot, and this time it struck a bird, which fell to the ground.
Hania was so angry that she did not even check on the bird. She just kept shooting, blocking out all sounds except the sound of her gunshot. She tried to focus again, this time aiming the gun at the tree. She took a deep breath and fired again, this time hitting the target. Hania removed the earplugs with a smile. She turned around and heard rattling, prompting her to fire in its direction.
“Oh, goodness!” She could hear a boy’s voice. She dashed towards the location of the sound. She could see him lying on the floor, and the bullet was stuck in the tree just inches behind his head. “You nearly killed me,” he yelled.
“I’m very sorry. What are you doing here? This should not be a place for you to be.” He got to his feet and dusted his bottom. “I was just returning from the river. I catch fish there.” He gave Hania a look. “Why do you dress like that? And why are you shooting?”
Hania exhaled. “I am trying not to be angry. Are you okay, though?”
“I am fine.” The boy smiled. “I am Alexander. Do you want to join me and eat my fish?” He said.
Hania scoffed. "You can’t go around being friendly to strangers. But I have to ask. Why go fishing at this time of the day?”
“Why not? This is the best time for fishing.”
“You shouldn’t come here anymore.” Hania started walking towards where she had dropped her weapons. As she bent down to pick it up, she looked at him. “This area is said to be dangerous. And I am surprised that you are the only one who comes to fish here.”
“Dangerous? How dangerous?” He asked, putting his hands on his hips.
“People are killed around this time. They said the wood monsters did it, but it seems it’s more than that.” Hania stood up and took a breath. “You should go home.” She approached her car.
“I did not catch your name,” he disclosed. Giving her a smile. Hania removed her hair, and the wind blew it over her face as she looked at him. “You are a beautiful girl. You should not always be angry.”
“You will understand if you have siblings.”
“Trust me. I do, and she can be really annoying at times.” He told Hania, “I love her regardless. So tell me, the sibling who annoyed you must be your younger sister,” he said as he approached her.
Hania nodded. “She’s not at fault right now, but I’m angry because she can not remember anything. She was in an accident that caused her to forget everything, and now my mother and younger sister are taking advantage of her.”
“Then you felt you could help her.”
“No, I thought I couldn’t. That was why I vented my anger on the tree.”
“And nearly killed me.” He gave a joke, which made Hania laugh.
She nodded. “That, too.”
Alexander took a deep breath. “You should tell her yourself, then.”
“I can’t. I don’t want to ruin her happy moment.”
“Then let it all play out; she will remember very soon. I am very certain.”
Hania opened the car door. “She will. Thank you for listening to me, even though I know I should not be so open with a stranger.”
Alexander shook his head. “You and I probably will not meet again. Speaking of that, what is your name?” He inquired again. “Just tell me; I would love to know.”
“Hania. You can call me Han, though. Please leave that area immediately.” She shut the door and drove away. Alexander spotted some paper on the floor. As he approached, he noticed that it was a Polaroid Photography It must have dropped from her. He bent to pick it up, and what he saw surprised him. “Selena?” he inquired. “So she is your sister,” he said, smirking. “Interesting.” He watched as the car disappeared from sight.
Alexander had indeed gone out fishing. He wanted to clear his mind of the whole being rejected to lead things after Titus unexpectedly returned from the dead. He is caught a couple of fish. The only thing that had diverted his attention was the sound of a car.
People rarely come to this side of the woods, so he wondered who it could be. He would stop what he was doing to go look. He had been watching her since she parked her car and walked into the woods to begin shooting. He could see how angry she was. This girl’s aura was different from others.
He was convinced that she was a strong person after she shot the tree and the bird fell and she didn’t tend to it. She exudes a fierce aura rather than a weak one. Someone like that is not yet capable of killing. Even more intriguing, she was revealed to be Selena’s sister. He hates Selena in particular. How interesting that his sister hates Selena? Befriending a sibling of an enemy.
Alexander shook his head as he moved to the tree she had shot. He extracted the bullet and examined it. He smelled it, but nothing stood out other than the fact that she had trained with an assault rifle; nothing else was unusual. Perhaps her family was in the military, allowing her to carry such a weapon.
Alexander began his journey back home. When he arrived at the entrance, he placed the fish he had caught in a bucket. He heard noises and moved towards the garage because they were coming from there. When he saw his sister, he let out a sigh. “So, what are you doing?” he asked.
“Get some fresh air,” Max said.
“And you chose to get it in a garage of all places?”
“I have been here for hours and no one knows I am here, so yeah, this feels like the perfect place for peace and quiet.”
Alexander went up to her. He took a seat beside her. “What is going on with you? You know you can talk to me.”
Max exhaled. “Can we get out of here for a bit? Let go of this werewolf thing and simply leave?”
“Did Titus tell you anything?” Max shook her head. “So why do you want to leave all of this alone and leave?”
“All I need is to breathe. I just need my brother. I need you to just give up and join me, even if only for a few months or weeks. I just want to leave here and start over somewhere new. Is this too much to ask?”
Alexander put his hand on her shoulder and drew her in close. She rested her head on his shoulder. “Okay, I suppose we should leave for a while to help you feel better. Go wherever you want to go.”
“I have also decided to return to the human school to finish my high school education.” Do not worry, Selena’s presence will not bother me.
