Chapter 95 Chapter 94
Evelyn.
I woke up on the floor, a sense of warmth and security enveloping me. As my eyes fluttered open, I realized I was lying naked, wrapped in the strong arms of the Alpha King. Slightly startled, i turned around, holding my breath as I watched him cautiously in case he was awake. Realizing he was still deep in sleep, I couldn't help but smile as I gazed at his sleeping form. He looked so peaceful, his chest rising and falling with every steady breath. The night before had been incredibly intense, a whirlwind of passion, and now, in the quiet moments of morning, I had the chance to admire his vulnerability.
The darkness that had consumed him was a heavy burden, one he had carried for far too long. The torment of his past, the betrayal he bore from Morticia and the pain that had etched itself into his heart, had threatened to devour him, almost stealing him away. But somehow, he had pushed through, emerged on the other side, and allowed me to glimpse the depths of his soul. I couldn't imagine what he must have felt, reliving those painful memories, but I was grateful that he didn't let it consume him.
A soft sigh escaped my lips as I thought about how close we had come to losing each other, to the abyss of despair that threatened to swallow him. My heart ached at the mere possibility of a world without him, and I knew I couldn't bear it. I whispered a silent thank you to the moon goddess for granting me this reprieve, for allowing us to find solace in each other's arms.
Unable to stop myself, I reached out to touch his face, my gaze traveling down to the scars on his chest that he was yet to hide away. Seeing this made me glad even as my heart burned to witness the suffering he had endured all these years. Just as I began to trace the contours of his face with my fingers, his eyes fluttered open, settling on mine and I froze, my fingers still on his face. I watched as the morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow on his features and my heart began to pound in my chest. His gaze met mine, and for a moment, we simply stared at each other, the weight of our shared experiences hanging in the air.
"Good morning, your majesty." I finally muttered, my voice barely above a whisper as I smiled at him. He didn't answer, just continued to stare at me, the soft beating of our hearts echoing in our ears. Pressing my fingers to his lips, he let out a sigh, pushing me closer to him, his fingers running down my body, leaving hot tingles in their wake.
"How do you feel?" he finally asked, his voice a gentle rumble that resonated in my chest. I couldn't help but smile at his concern, at the way he always put me first.
"Sore, but fine," I replied with a soft chuckle. "And you?"
He offered a small, contented smile before burying his face in the crook of my neck, his breath tickling my skin. "I'm fine," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
We lay there in silence, the world outside the chambers seeming to fade away. The only sounds were the soft rustling of the sheets and the steady rhythm of our breathing. I closed my eyes, cherishing this moment of stillness, of being intertwined with the man I loved. It was a stark contrast to the chaos and darkness that had threatened to tear us apart, and I held onto it like a lifeline.
Finally, I brought my gaze back to his relaxed face, unable to stop running my fingers against his chest, grateful he didn't stiffen or try to pull away from me. Kieran let out a low rumble, one hand idly caressing my hair as we snuggled together.
"What happens now?" I whispered, and he gazed at me, his brow raised in question. Taking a deep breath, I repeated the question again. "What are you going to do now? To Morticia, I mean." I clarified, staring at his eyes.
He pursed his lips, a shadow crossing his eyes as he let out a disconcerted smile. "Honestly, I don't know." He finally mumbled, a hand slipping down to caress my breasts as he twisted the nipple between his fingers, drawing a sharp gasp from me. "I genuinely don't want to think about it right now." He added.
I nodded, tearing my gaze away from his face to place a kiss on his chest. He's probably just going to let her stay in the dungeons till he can articulate his thoughts. Suddenly, he spoke again, forcing me to pay attention to him once more. "One thing is for sure, I wasn't expecting it from her. But, I should have known better. After all, I did see the signs. I just didn't pay any attention to it." He muttered in a self-deprecating voice.
"Please, don't blame yourself for what has happened. There's really nothing we can do right now than bear with it and make sure those mistakes don't repeat itself." I told him, reaching out to grab his face. He gazed down at me before slowly nodding head, a corner of his lips twitching but not quite forming a smile.
"Okay, I'll try to listen to you." He muttered, pulling a nipple into his mouth as he began to suckle on it. I let out a soft moan but I didn't try to pull him away, enjoying his gentle administrations. As the morning sun continued to rise, we continued to bask in each other's presence until another nagging question dropped in my mind.
"What about us?" I blurted out, my cheeks tinting toa deep shade of red as I gazed at him. He drew on a puzzled look, pausing in his ministrations, a brow cocked up in question. I cleared my throat and tried again. "Though... We have acknowledged that we are mates now, we haven't done anything else." I whispered.
"What do you mean?"
