Chapter 38 Chapter 37
Morticia
Ever since I was dismissed from the Alpha king's chambers to summon Evelyn, I hadn't been unable to understand what had gone wrong so quickly for Kieran to find such displeasure in my presence. I had waited all night, hoping that Evelyn would leave quickly so I could go back and ask what went wrong and make amends but that didn't happen because I didn't see Evelyn come out of his chambers at all. Eventually I gave up and went back to my chambers. Yet, I couldn't sleep. The fancy bed, soft sheets, and the fancy room offered no comfort. Instead, my mind was a whirlpool of thoughts about Alpha King Kieran and that slave girl, Evelyn.
Now it's morning, and she's just striding out of his chambers, covered in obvious marks and having his scent all over her. Who wouldn't be mad? I stormed towards her and when she saw me, her lips pursed together, anger already brewing in eyes.
"Where. Are. You. Coming. From?" I bit out, unable to control my rage as I glared at her.
She rolled her eyes as if it wasn't obvious already. "The Alpha king's chambers, of course." She replied primly, meeting my gaze head on. I couldn't believe it, there was no way he let her spent another night with him.
"You spent an entire night there?" I asked, unable to hide the shock in my voice.
"At his request. He was the one who ordered me to stay back." She replied and I reeled at the information. This is the second time he's done this. The second time he's allowed her to stay in his chambers. Just what the hell is going on? I lost it at her words and advanced towards her.
"How dare you!" I growled as I lurched at her, grabbing her yanking her hair and pulling her everywhere. "How dare you stand and talk me to like that! You lowly thing! There's no way the Alpha King you spend the night in his chambers! Absolutely not! You did something to him, didn't you!?" I raged as I continued to pull her about with her hair and she screamed, struggling to get away.
Finally, she managed to, panting heavily as she glared at me. "If you're so agitated about this, why don't you ask the Alpha king!? After all, he's the one who ordered it and I am just his slave!" She screamed.
"Shut up!" I snapped back, narrowing my eyes. Though I knew she was right, I still couldn't think past the hurt. I hated that she was the one in a position that I have prayed for. Furious, I made to hit her but she caught my hands mid-air and retailated by slapping me as well, causing my face to swing to the side, my ears ringing. My mouth fell open in shock. Did she just slap me?!
"Don't you ever, EVER, in your miserable life, raise your hand at me." Evelyn seethed as she twisted my hands painfully, glowering at me. Her nails dug into my skin and for a fleeting moment, I saw her eyes change color as her wolf inched to the surface. Pronounced slave or not, Evelyn was still a Werewolf princess and the last thing I wanted was to anger a Werewolf who had royal blood running through her veins. She could end me without a second thought.
I scurried away from her, nursing my bruised arms. She ran her hands through her hair, attempting to smoothen it before turning to look at me, her eyes narrowing. "I'm going to report this incident to the king. You won't get away with this!" I yelled at her but she just scoffed.
"Do your absolute worst." She spat at me before sidestepping me and going her own way. "Dirty swine." She muttered under her breath as she walked past me and I turned to her, my body shaking with rage and shame.
How dare her!!! How. Fucking. Dare. Her?!

Unable to take the humiliation I had suffered in her hands, I hurried to the king's chambers, forcing myself to stay still as I knocked on the huge, ornate doors that adorned the entrance. "Enter." I heard his gruff voice mutter and I took in a deep breath before pushing the door open and walking in.
"Your majesty." I greeted, bowing slightly as I paid my respects.
"What is it, morticia." He muttered, uninterested as he wore his robe.
"It is about your slave, Evelyn." I announced and subtly noticed him stiffening.
"What about her?" He asked, his voice surprisingly blank and still with the same disinterest.
"She raised her hand at me and hit me," I said, pointing at the hand imprint she left on my cheeks. "I was only trying to discipline her and she hit me! She deserved to be punished! She deserves to be.."
Keiran cast a withering look at me, causing me to trail off as he narrowed his eyes. Finally he lets out a sigh, running a hand through his hair. "I have too many things to do today as I woke up late and I do not have time for such trivial matters. Don't bother me like this, early this morning. If she offended you, punish her yourself and stop bothering me." He grated, sounding displeased.
I stood in shock, suprised at his words. Did he just disregard my words? Tears sprang into my eyes despite my anger but I did my best it to blink it back, keeping my emotions controlled. "Of course, your majesty. I'm sorry for disturbing you." I mumble.
"Hmm... Get out now." He ordered, not sparing me any glance. My initial worry forgotten, I turned around, rushing out of the Alpha king's chambers, breathing heavily as I stepped into the corridors. I distinctly noticed that I was shaking, the anger in me morphing into something darker, more sinister. I bunched my skirt, breathing heavily as I stared ahead.
Evelyn Nightshade. That little witch!
She's clearly overstayed her welcome. Any more and chaos will ensue. I walked back to my chambers, heading straight to the vanity and seating in the chair. With a dazed look on my face, I brought out a piece of parchment, wetting a quill with ink and I began writing. I'm going to send this to the Rogue group, they needed to step up since I can't wait any longer. Once I was done with it, I rolled it up and walked to my window, summoning an eagle that was flying overhead. It shot straight to my window, landing on the railing, I tied the piece of parchment on it's leg and I set it free.
Watching it as it flew away, I cleaned off the stray tear that had run down my cheek. I won't cry, I refuse to cry. Why wallow in tears when I can get rid of the the object of my discomfort? At the thought, a crude smile inched at the surface of my lips. Right there and then, I made a vow to myself.
Princess Evelyn Nightshade, I am going to kill you with my own hands.
