Chapter 123 Chapter 122
Evelyn.
Though I was fast, the soldiers seemed faster and soon they were catching up to me. I didn't dare look back, focusing ahead of me even as their barks and snarls drew nearer. Out of nowhere, a bigger wolf jumped out of the woods and immediately intercepted them, attacking Callahan's soldiers while I ran deeper into the woods. I was scared st first, thinking it was part of Callahan's men until it mind-link and revealed itself to be Ethan.
Filled with relief, I quickly sent back a note of thanks as I ran deeper into the woods. "What did you do? Why are they after you?" Duke Ethan asked as he mind-linked with me.
"I stabbed Callahan." I replied back and he seemed shocked. "You have to go faster, if Callahan lays a hand on you, he's going to kill you!" Duke Ethan warned me. I give a quick nod and propelled myself forward, trusting my wolf to take me to safe spot. My senses heightened, I began to look around for Kieran myself. The ache in my heart only served to fuel my determination to see Kieran again.
Wherever you are, I'm coming to find you, Kieran. Just wait for me.

The woods swallowed me whole as I sprinted deeper, my heart pounding in my ears like a relentless drumbeat. The echo of my own howls reverberated through the dense trees, a desperate attempt to reach someone, anyone, through the mind-link. Yet, the woods remained silent, the connection severed, leaving me with an unsettling silence.
Initially, the sensation of being pursued fueled my frantic pace, shadows flickering at the corners of my vision. But as the distance stretched between me and Callahan's soldiers, an eerie calm settled over the forest. No sounds of pursuit reached my ears, and a chilling realization crept in — I was alone. Duke Ethan must have taken care of the soldiers chasing after me. Relief mingled with exhaustion as I slowed my pace, the fear of being hunted dissipating like morning mist under the sun's warmth. I desperately hoped he was alright as well.
Yet, fatigue clawed at my limbs as I pushed forward, deeper into the heart of the unfamiliar woods. I tried again, trying to reach anyone through the mind-link and howling but nothing returned. Despair wrapped itself like a cloak around me and my wolf let out a pain-filled cry that seemed to reverberate through the forest. The terrain blurred, my surroundings looking the same no matter where I went.
I was lost, both physically and metaphorically, the forest stretching endlessly in every direction. The weight of uncertainty pressed upon me, a gnawing anxiety about Alpha King Kieran's wellbeing. I clung to the assurance that I was still alive, but the fate of my companion remained shrouded in the unknown.
With each step, hope waned, replaced by a grim determination to press on. The moon hung above like a silent witness, its glow filtering through the canopy above. I tried one last time before giving up completely, exhaustion finally catching up to me. "Please, kieran. Just let me find you." I muttered to myself as I looked up at the moon, seeking out the moon goddess in my heart, a silent plea for strength in a moment of vulnerability.
"Please, guide me." I sank to the forest floor, the cool earth beneath a welcome embrace. The rustle of leaves and distant nocturnal sounds surrounded me as I closed my eyes, surrendering to an uneasy slumber. As I drifted through unconsciousness, I had a dream. In my dreams, I met my sister again, and she was standing in a beautiful meadow, a sad smile on her face as she gazed gently at me.
I quickly hurried to her and she enveloped me into a warm hug. In my dreams, she was always so alive. I couldn't help the tears they poured down my facenas I held on to her, my heart filled with hurt and relief at the same time. I finally pulled away from the hug and looked into her face. "I don't know what to do. Kieran is gone and I don't know where to find him!" I cried to her.
She only let out a soft smile as he held my hands. "I know, I've seen all that happened and I sympathize with you."
"What am I going to do? How am I going to find him?"
"Follow the Moon Goddess, she will guide you to him." Elizabeth said, her voice taking on an eerie kind of note. I paused momentarily, gazing at her intently. "Follow the moon goddess? How?"
"Follow the Moon Goddess. She will guide you." She repeated once more. Finally, she reached out to touch my cheeks as she began to fade away. "Follow the Moon Goddess. She will guide you." She uttered one last time before finally fading away. I woke up from my sleep, realizing I had reverted back to my human form and that dawn was already approaching.
Confused, I looked around for a while before looking up at the sky and seeing the moon still shining bright despite the fact that it was almost morning. It was quite the rare phenomenon but my sister's words came back to me. I needed to follow the moon goddess. Shifting back to my wolf form, I started to run in the direction of the moon, calling on Kieran through the mind-link as I sprinted through the forest.
For hours, I ran, still following the moon till I got to the edge of the forest and approaching a precarious cliff and plunged to dark depths below. I looked around using my sharpened senses but there was still no sign of him. I was starting to give up when I heard a growl and all the hairs on my body stood on end, my ears quickly tuning to the spot where the sound came from.
It became louder and it seemed to be coming nearer as well. I took a step back, emitting a growl of my own even as I shivered in fear. The growl became a snarl and the atmosphere became tense and electrified. The growl became a snarl and birds across the horizon dispered into the air, their cawing sending shivers down my spine.
My wolf still continued to retreat when a huge black Wolf jumped out of the forest, emitting a terrifying snarl and I glared at me, his eyes crazed. I recognized it instantly but my heart still broke at the sight. Though it was Kieran, I was absolutely sure he doesn't recognize me now and it hurts to see.
