Chapter 10

I looked at the retreating form of my best friend. My heart broke.

I wanted to call her, beg her not to go, and explain everything that was happening in my life, but I couldn’t. She was best off this way.

I could not help the irking feeling that someone was watching me. I looked around me, and there was nothing. Absolutely nothing.

“It’s just my mind.” I convinced myself even though I knew that it was a lie. I was indeed being followed.

“Baby, are you okay?” My mom said as she rushed into the room. “I heard the yells. Did…” I shook myself free from her hold.

“I hate it,” I said to my mom with tear-filled eyes. “I hate everything!” I broke out. “I couldn’t even keep my friendship a secret." "I am a failure.”

“Honey! You aren’t a…. “

"Please, ma, don’t lie about it! You don’t need to sugarcoat things. I get it! ", my mother looked at me with wide eyes, not expecting me to act out this way. My mother, though she has always tried, was never good with emotions.

"I'll go get your dad," she said, rubbing my back gently.

Eric’s p.o.v.

I was anything but calm.

“Alpha, I suggest you take your time to think about it,” Ian said, pulling me back to reality.

“I am done taking my time! One bloody week and nothing from her. "She could be dead, in the gutters rotting out, anything!” I went to the office on the morning of the attack; unfortunately for me, she had not gone to work that day. I didn’t think much about it.

It was normal that she had a rough night. It’s pretty obvious that she might call in sick or something to take her mind off things.

But as the week progressed, no one heard a thing from her, not even her boss. I went to the house, but I could not seem to go closer than a certain extent.

It was spelled correctly.

My mind was not calmed by that fact. She could have been misspelled without my knowledge. She could be in trouble, and then I wouldn’t even know or be able to reach her. The more I thought of the different situations she could be in, the more I felt uneasy.

“What do you suggest?” Ian said, looking at me. He blinked. looking at me, ready for my command.

“We need a witch." "Someone that can break the spell that has been cast around the house.”

“Are you sure that is a good idea?" What if it was put over by someone to protect her?

“And what if it wasn't?" What if it’s a trap? "What if she is suffering within those walls?” I ran my hands through my hair. With the way I had my hands through my hair these few times, I was sure to get bald.

“Fine, but how do you plan to go about it?” He looked at me as if trying to figure me out.

“I don’t know.” It was no news that witches were in hiding. Finding one was going to be extremely difficult. “It would take some time, but I would find one."

"Okay,” he looked like he had other things to say but kept them to himself. He had been my closest friend and family for the longest time. There was no way I wouldn’t notice.

“ what it Ian.” I rose a brow his way.

“Nothing much, Alpha; it’s just that you are needed back at the pack." There are some things that need your attention. I’ve tried to put it off as much as possible, but... He looked around as if trying to avoid my gaze.

I wanted to scream out in frustration. "Fine,” I bit my lips from saying the wrong word, “three days, that’s all you have to find a witch." You are. Protect her with your life. "If anything changes, you let me know,” I said sternly, to which he nodded.

“Yes Alpha.”

“Please have someone prepare the car.”

“You want to go now?” He looked at me in shock.

Faster I go faster, I’m back...

It was not as easy as I thought. My wolf wanted nothing more than to get back to her. It tore me physically away from her territory.

"Soon,” I said while massaging my chest, where it hurt to leave her side. “Soon I’ll be back by your side." "And no single person would be able to move you away from me.” I mumbled to myself.

Eloise’s p.o.v

A week later, I was back to my normal day-to-day activities. It wasn’t easy, but I was doing it. It was scary.

I felt eyes on me at every turn. My boss didn’t even blink an eye at my disappearance. I was just told to not disappear again.

‘how professional'

I walked to the parking lot to begin my walk to the bus stop. Since Anna and I were no longer friends, that also meant that I didn’t get free rides anymore.

I hadn’t even seen her since I resumed. It was as if she was trying with all her might to avoid me. and that really hurt my feelings.

I stepped out of the building having that feeling of being watched back again.

One step,

Two steps.

Three steps.

“Who is there?" I felt my heart beat faster than ever.

No one answered, which put me even more on edge.

“Look, it would be good for you to come out now." "For your own good,” one thing my dad always told me, was that it was best to sound strong. even when you weren’t. It gave your opponent a false sense of your feelings.

“I’ll count to one; after that, you wouldn’t blame me for my actions.” I threatened her even though I knew that I wouldn’t do shit.

“One

Three,… A guy came out of hiding. He looked to be confused.

"Hi,” he said with a breath. “I am sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you."

“Who sent you?” I snapped from where I was. It was a good thing that no one was around to witness this. The guy was all the way on the other side of the road.

From what I could see, he looked kind of shocked that I could hear him.

“Speak,“ he sighed and crossed all the way to my side of the road, but was still a bit far from me.

“I have bane in my hand." If you do not want to be bruised, you better start talking.

Bane was a portion made by witches to keep other supernaturals off their turf. It was as deadly as wolf’sbane. It could weaken you significantly, and getting yourself back would be really difficult.

“I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to startle you." "My name is Ian, and I am sorry we have to meet this way. I didn’t wait for him to finish. I threw the first thing I touched in my bag at him.

"Hey,” he said, dodging it easily.

“Stay away from me!” I yelled and started running.

“Hey! "Wait.. let me explain.” He said following me. "It's not very safe!” I didn’t listen until I was pushed to the side, knocking me off my feet.
