Melissa's POV
I let out a loud scream as my eyes flew wide open, sweat trickled down my face as I breathed deeply, my heart began to race faster than ever.
The door of the chamber opened and Patricia ran in,a look of worry on her face as she ran closer to where I laid.
"What happened Ma'am?" She asked, watching me with deep curious eyes.
I sat still unable to move, my heart was beating so fast. At first, it was hard for me to realize where I was. The images fixed in my dream were so clear that it took me a hard time to recognize Patricia who stood very worried.
"You are not saying anything Ma'am, please speak to me, what is wrong? You don't look fine to me" she urged and placed her hand on me but I was fast enough to let go of her hold.
"I am fine"
Patricia didn't look convinced, "You don't look fine to me ma'am"
Slowly, I averted my flickering eyes to her,I didn't know where the fear that I felt came from and all I could remember from the terrible nightmare I just had was the picture of the deep woods.
I glanced at the open window only to realize that the sun had set already. At that point, I could feel that something was wrong, deeply wrong.
"No,I have to get somewhere," I said as I got out of bed.
Confused, Patricia walked towards me , "Where are you heading to?"
I didn't reply but began to ransack the wardrobe searching for a suitable cloth to wear. I could a black pants and white blouse. Not caring that I wasn't alone, I quickly dressed up, packed my hair in a ponytail and began to head towards the door.
"Where are you heading to ma'am?" Patricia asked, very confused.
"I will be back, I need to get out of this pack right now" I replied a few feet away from the pack.
"You can't leave ma'am, it's not safe the sun has set and every danger for you" Patricia panicked, holding my hand softly just to prevent me from leaving.
I turned around to her, nothing but deep care was written all over her face but I couldn't deny the strong urge of leaving the pack. The urge was so strong that I couldn't deny its presence. I don't know what's going on but I could hear a voice in my head telling me to leave the pack and head out into the woods just without any reason.
"Patricia, All I need from you right now is for you to help cover me up. Don't let my absence be known, I will be back soon"
Patricia looked deeply scared, her forehead fired in great worry and she shook her head vigorously.
"No!"
"No" she noted strongly.
Quickly, she got on her knees and rested her head on my legs as she bowed with a shaky body.
"Please don't do this. Do not leave the pack, it's against the law guiding the royal home. I know that I am nothing but a maid but my life depends on your safety. If you should leave and something tragic should happen to you, I will have to pay for it,my head will be cut off and placed out to the woods for the birds of the air to feast on. Please I beg you, do not leave, but if you want to, take me along with you. I can't stay back and watch you face your death alone" Patricia begged roughly, her hands still wrapped around my left leg.
No way will I take her along with me. I know that she is a Werewolf and willing to fight anyone who might try to harm me but at the same time, I don't want to risk her life, this is something I have to do alone. The voice in my head is far more stronger than it has ever been before and I don't see myself acting against it.
"No way Patricia, you have to stay back"
"No!" She cried
"Please take me along with you. I can't stay back. If the prince should return and find out that you are nowhere to be found, all fingers will be pointed at me because I am your personal maid and if I fail to tell them what they want to hear, or the prince should get to know that you left the pack with me knowing about this. It will ruin my life and I can't just stand and watch you fall into such luck, you are too good for me, please, don't leave"
The image of Nelson flashed through my mind. I knew he left for the woods this morning, it's quite surprising that he is yet to return and the sun has set already.
"Patricia, I need to leave,do stay back and guard my absence, I will be back before you realize it" stating this, I walked out of the room leaving Patricia who was subdued in great fear.
Quickly, I walked down the hallway surrounded with thoughts. The voices in my head were far stronger and clearer than before. The more they spoke, the deeper I forged out of the royal home.
Some maids walked past me, inward surprise that none of them was quick enough to recognize me, that gave me a greater chance of escaping and not getting myself into a deeper mess.
Soon enough, I found myself walking down the path that leads out of the woods. I followed some traders who made their way out of the gates as the make guards stood watching each passerby.
"Hey you! Stop!" A strong muscular voice boomed behind me.
I froze in shock. At first, it was so hard for me to move. The women who walked sideways with me also came to a halt, a surprised look on their faces as they wondered who the guards must be referring to.
"Are you deaf?! Didn't you hear me" the guard let out again, this time, his tone was so fierce that I felt chills pass through my veins.
I glanced at a young woman right next to me, slowly, I looked down at her dress and noticed her holding the Hem of it as she shivered strongly.
"Woman! Turn around!" The guard ordered. Although I had no idea who the guard must be referring to, my eyes didn't leave the trembling woman who stood next to me.
Slowly, she raised her head up to me, her eyes were as green as ever, tears welled up in it and she couldn't stop biting her lower lip so hard that I feared she might bleed at any time.
"Are you alright?" I whispered so faint as I noticed that she couldn't get her eyes off me. The tears began to stream down her face and I dared not go turn around in fear that the guards might recognize me.
One of the guards walked up to where I stood, I closed my eyes tightly but before I could make a move, the guards grabbed the woman next to me by her arm and a loud cry filled the atmosphere.
"Let me go!" The woman screamed and began to growl like a wild cat, her green eyes flashed with so much danger and her skin began to flow so bright.
The woman screamed so loud and began to utter some inaudible words.
"Seize her!" One of the guards instructed but before the other could do so, the woman turned into ashes and vanished into thin air.
