Nelson's POV.
"Are you sure you are alright?" Conri asked as soon as we got back to the pack. The pain was so unbearable at that moment but I tried all my best to hide it away from him.
"Yes I am alright Conri, you worry too much" I muttered trying to hide the agony that felt like a knife was being struck a dozen times in my wound.
"You don't look fine to me Alpha"
I turned around to have a better look of his face.
"I assure you that I am fine, Conri. You worry too much and I don't want you too. I should be better by morning, it's just a little blood, nothing quite scary, you don't have to worry about anything" I placed my hand on his shoulder giving him a reassuring look.
"You need to go to your room now, it's late" . Saying this, I walked out of him and began to head down the hallway leading to my chamber.
With each step I took, it felt like I was being pulled to the ground by a strong force I could not explain. It felt so strong, stronger than anything and the pain became so severe that it spread to all parts of my body.
This is strange
Really strange.
It's just a claw wound,why does it hurt this much?
No claw wound has ever hurt me to this point that I begin to lose my strength in an unimaginable way.
"No way Nelson, you need to get to your chamber as quickly as possible" I muttered to myself.
I wanted to call out phoenix but he kept quiet, totally ignoring me and leaving me in pain. I was losing, yes I was! But I won't let it get the better part of me, I am certain that in the morning, I should feel better.
Gazing up, I realized I was almost at the door. I got to it, opened and walked in only to find Melissa laying on the bed with a book in her arms.
Hearing the door open, she looked up, our eyes locked together but I quickly looked away. I didn't want her to notice the pain glued to my face, at that point, the pain was so strong that I knew that my body couldn't take it anymore.
My legs became wobble,I tried to stand still, avoiding Melissa who finally looked away from me paying attention to the book before her.
I took a step closer into the room. Suddenly, the whole view became so blurry that I lost my stability and fell heavily to the ground.
"Nelson!" I heard Melissa scream as she ran towards me.
I tried to get up to my feet but at that moment, I couldn't. My whole body felt so rigid and I could feel my throat become dry as ever.
"Nelson! What's wrong?!" She cried out, although my eyes were facing tomth ceiling, her face was so blurry that I could hardly see her expression but the tone of her voice showed how worried she was.
"You are bleeding!' I heard her yell, slowly, her image became clear, she looked really frightened, her eyes glued to my bleeding arm. I averted my gaze to her hand only to find it covered in blood.
"What happened to you Nelson, you ate bleeding so bad" she held my hand trying as much as possible to get me back to my feet but I was so weak to even try. I looked up at her head, the bandage was off and her thick long hair flowed touching the left side of my face.
Tempted, even in my state, I closed my eyes and inhaled the perfect scent of her hair which smelled like flowers and wonderful fragrance.
"Why are you bleeding so much Nelson? What happened to you?" Melissa implored greatly.
"I need you to get up on your feet Nelson, please try" she wrapped her arms around me and together with the strength that was slowly coming back to me,I got on my feet with her holding my hands for support. Together, we walked towards the bed and gently, she helped me sit at my side of the bed, her gaze still fixed to my bleeding arm.
"Talk to me Nelson,what happened to you? Was this from my attack yesterday?" She asked, guilt written all over her face.
Her hand touched the open wound and I growled in deep pain, my eyes tightly shut.
"I am fine Melissa, you don't have to do this" I muttered trying to push her away from me.
"No Nelson, you are not fine, it is clear that you were being attacked but your pride just doesn't want you to admit that you are hurt" she stated sternly, pure anger accompanied with worry shown right back at me.
Seeing her so worried, it brought a warm feeling to my heart. So she do care about me, she really does and I can't help but admit that I feel the same way for her too. When she was being attacked, I could feel that something was wrong. Although at first, I had no idea what might be going wrong, I followed my instincts, walked down the hallway only to find her being attacked and at the point of getting killed.
Sighting her in such misery, Phoenix kicked in with so much anger and before I could control myself, I found phoenix coming out in full force and attacked the stranger before he could accomplish his mission.
"I am fine Melissa, you shouldn't be worried about me" I emphasized, this time, I stared deep into her eyes,our gaze not leaving each other.
"You don't look fine to me, you are bleeding and you just want to throw it under the carpet like you are not in pain…"deep hurt was buried inside her eyes as she muttered those words, our stares not leaving each other.
"I don't care what you think or how you view me. I can never have any relationship with you, not minding the fact that we are mates and rightly married. But that doesn't mean that I will leave you to linger in your pain after you saved my life twice. I am not that wicked Nelson so it's best you stay still, don't try to stop me because you will only end up wasting your time. Let me do what I am meant to do and stop this bleeding. The maids should be all asleep by now, so it's just you and me. Stop being stubborn, you can't always be strong"
Her words rang like a bell in my head, speechless, I nodded agreeing to her. At that moment, my heart melted in a way I couldn't explain.
She is stubborn.
Far stubborn than any woman I have ever been with.
Although she is human, the first human to get married to an Alpha. I have always viewed humans as weaklings but seeing Melissa with her acts, I couldn't help but wonder if she is really human.
"I can sense a burning fire inside of her" the words of Tinox rang in my head. I watched her walk into the restroom and after some minutes,she came back holding a bowl and a clean white towel.
"You have to stay still, this might hurt" she said, glanced at me and returned her gaze to the open wound.
I nodded and watched her clean my wound so gently and with care written all over her. Although it hurts as the warm water touches my flesh, Melissa's touch on my skin really ceases the pain. I didn't feel much pain as I am supposed to do and with every touch she placed on me, the warm feeling in my heart elaborated making me lose focus, my eyes unable to let go of her.
