Epilogue

Silas’s Perspective:

Silas sits at his desk pondering his options, fuming that his efforts with Sarai were now a lost cause. He tried everything, literally everything, to make her comfortable, to make her feel the way he does for her, only to have her disregard his wishes. Three guards stood around the room, waiting for Silas to give orders as he stewed in his pride.

Why couldn’t she have just been happy staying in her room? I gave her my trust and allowed her to walk the halls, visit the garden, the library, and have exquisite dinners. Silas contemplated. I only wished she not go down to the dungeons. Of course, she was to never be alone, but that’s for her safety. I was right not to fully trust her. She obviously will not take my threats seriously.

“Where is Asher?” I questioned, looking at the guards.

“We aren’t sure.” One of the guards responded.

“Very well… It’s probably best he isn’t here for this anyway.” I state, letting out a disgruntled sigh. “Even though he thinks he has successfully hidden his true feelings for Ruth from me, I know she is his soulmate. But… Sarai has forced me to do this. I will just deal with the both of them in time.”

“Sir?” One guard questions, waiting for their orders.

“I need two of you to go down to the dungeons and get rid of Ruth.” He said. “If Sarai is going to take anything I say seriously, then I must kill the only friend she has. She will never fully feel she is helpless with her here.”

Two of the guards shuffle out of the room, heading down to the dungeon to take care of Ruth.

“Leave me,” I state to the other guard who remained. Once he left the room, I threw myself back in my chair, drawing in a deep breath. Making myself concentrate, I took a few breaths to alleviate any stress or anxiety I was currently experiencing from the tremendous disappointment Sarai had caused. I needed to have as much focus as possible at this moment. I needed to see what Rory was up to.

“Oh… You found the old man have you?” I state, talking to Rory who has now crumbled to the ground. “He isn’t going to help you in time for the wedding tomorrow.”

“You aren’t going to marry my Sarai!” Rory retorted.

I cackle in laugher. “Rory, you need to know when you have lost. And you are not winning this. I have her right where I want her.”

“That’s what you think.”

“No, it’s what I know. How much more pain can you take?” I questioned in amusement, provoking Rory. “I have banished you and taken control over your home. I’ve taken your soulmate from you and soon I will be wed to her. And don’t worry. I’ll make sure to be very careful when we consummate the marriage.”

“Don’t you even think about touching her!”

“I already have,” I respond, tauntingly. “Soon you won’t have a home to come back to.”

“I am going to kill you,” Rory responds irritated.

“Good luck.”
