Chapter 292 CHAPTER 192

Chapter 292 CHAPTER 192
The air whooshed past my ears as I urged Zephyr to fly faster than he had ever flown before.

I still picked up snippets of the conversation behind me, enough to understand what was happening.

"That bastard Zade captured finally gave up the book," Ma Laura revealed.

"He did?" Zade gasped, "I thought he'd take it to his grave."

"He's weaker than he looks, you just have to know where to press," Madam Vespera said, and I knew she was the one who got us what we've been searching for all this while.

"I went back to the world that my Zhar brought that power from. So there's a bit of hope but I don't want anyone to think too much about it. Let's just follow the instructions down to the letter and hope for the best."

"What needs doing?" Draco asked in that snappy voice of his.

"I'm having a room being prepared as we speak. You her Ties will do most of the work. You must remain by her side. I don't know how long it'll ... Take. But you can't get tired and leave."

I scoffed, "Tired of staying by her side? Ridiculous."

"It's easy to say from the beginning of the line," she snapped, "but if it takes longer than you anticipated, who knows what stupid ideas will get into your head?"

I didn't reply to her, no need getting into a fit with the only mother figure I've ever had.

She's been all over the three of us this whole time, she's this upset today probably because of the trip.

Which makes me feel like although this is our last resort, she doesn't have much confidence in it.

But what other option is there?
Letting the fates win?

Fuck no, we'll fight.
Until our dying breath, we'll fucking fight.

We got there and gently, Draco carried her from me and headed inside.

Ma Laura rushed ahead, directing him to where she was to be kept.

Her dragons walked with us until the door where they couldn't come in again.

"You beasts," she called, "fly to the back!" Shaedra, show them the way!"

We headed inside and I gasped at the interior of the main house.

From outside, I could tell the villa was large, but the warm colours, bright, glowy lights and furniture made this place just feel like.. home.

I guess that's the first thing I always look out for in a stranger's house. We always look for what we don't have.

When she directed us past four corridors and then waded into a room, my heart was already beating too fast.

Draco's veins were popping, despite his strength, that case was made of a wood that was heavier than stone.

She opened the room and it was bigger than Eruwan's entire healing chamber, both the inside and outside.

The air smelled faintly of herbs and clean water. A few low tables stood against the walls, holding bowls and folded cloths they probably needed.

On the far end of one wall was a large stone, flat on the surface but long.

"You can keep her here," she directed him, "be careful."

He slowly kept her, his hand lingering on the glass top.

I looked at the opposite side of the room, it looked completely different, even in paint.

A bed was propped near the wall, and in the centre of the ground was one small path with translucent water that carried all the way to her stone bed.

"What next?" I asked, trying to make sense of everything.

"Every morning, I'll come in to clean her up. That's the only time you get to wander around and do whatever you want. You eat here, the bathroom is on the left and I'll find you whatever you need to keep your brain from rebelling against you."

"Basically, this is a waiting game," Madam Vespera said, "It sounds way too easy, but trust me.. it's the hardest."

It's been three months and let me tell you, if a woman tells you something, worse, two older women, believe them with everything in your damn soul.

I felt like I was stuck in place.
I'd not moved from this spot in three days, and for someone who's been running all his life, this was torture.

But I couldn't move.
Her breaths were still the same.

Twice a minute.

It had increased once last month and I ran to her in a second, only to watch it go back to normal.

Well, her new version of normal.

"Florian," Draco called with a tired voice, "go take a shower. You stink."

I didn't move.
He's the only properly functional one of us all. Always making sure we ate, bathed and lifted a limb.

But I know it's coming for him soon, this lethargy that was rotting me from the inside.

Zade is a bit better than me, he was always inside a book, and since he's had practice with this, it's probably as easy as wearing an old coat.

It's the waiting for something to happen that's driving him insane.

Literally.

I watched him snap up from the book again, looking at the case, as if waiting for something to happen.

Like he's done four times in the past hour.

And there's me who spent the first month working out, taking walks when she's been bathed and trying to keep myself moving.

Gradually, I slowed down.

And now it seems I've come to a halt and not even that thing in me that races to attention at Draco's voice could do anything for me.

I was simply.. stuck.

Until I felt a hand grab my neck, "Get the fuck up man!" Draco growled in my ear.

"I can't!" I snarled, "I .. fucking can't!"

"You have to, please."

I turned to him, something crazy was in his eyes.

We'd all grown very long beards and our hair was at off lengths.

This made him look madder.

But it's the desperation in his voice that pushed me to a pause.

"Why?" I muttered, breathing in his scent that was crowding me.

This weird bond that had grown so tightly between us all was too naughty for anyone's good.

"Because you're our only hope. You're the speed man. If you stop.. please get up Flo."
Zade dropped his book and literally crawled to where I was on the ground.

"You don't understand him, do you?" He asked, his voice gruff.

I shook my head, my breath coming in pants.

He placed his hand on my chest.

"Draco is our strength, I'm our mind, you're our speed. Everything that Alira needs to be the wildfire that she is. If you stop, we all stop."

"That's too much on me," I muttered, close to tears, "you both are supposed to guide me."

"And that's what I'm doing right now, snap out of this haze. Get up Florian," Draco drawled.

My fingers moved, but that's all that moved.

Well, not the only thing but they can't know what they're making me feel.

Except that.. Draco grabbed my neck tighter and shoved his face in mine.

I gasped and his tongue slammed into my mouth.
