Chapter 145 CHAPTER 145

Chapter 145 CHAPTER 145
ALIRA'S POV

Florian's words fizzled through my veins as I headed over to Zade's new house.

Yes, I know Draco insisted that I not sleep at his place, but the silent treatment I've been getting is messing with my mind so much that I can't concentrate on the preparation I'm supposed to be working on.

Besides, he pissed me off this morning with all that ‘separating work from Soul Tie business’ thing he had going on.

Nearly made me put Zade in trouble.

Also, I am supposed to be training with him.

Beyond all of that, I missed him.

A little too much.

He's the least dramatic one of the bonds and he always makes me feel like I'm finally home and right now, I need that so badly.

The speech Florian gave in my defence only meant that people stopped putting their foot out trying to make me fall, saying horrible things once I was within earshot and walking past me while pushing me with their shoulders as if there's no other space to walk on.

It was a lot better now, bearable.

I still got weird looks, even pity sometimes.

A girl will take anything that's not hostile at this point.

And as much as I hate to admit it, watching Florian ride his dragon and powerfully show us some basics in such an effortless manner did some things to me.

So I'm going to let Zade apologise to me and hopefully we can get past it.

When I raised my hand to knock on the door, it pulled open immediately and I was engulfed in a bone-crushing hug.

“Someone missed me,” I chuckled.

“You don't know how scared I've been. I've been hearing all manner of nonsense about you since I got out of the house and I might have sent a few people to Eruwan's.”

“And yet you intentionally dragged me down here. After I escaped.”

“Wait, you're still on this?”

“Of course I am!” I snarled. “I escaped. All I needed to do was kill Baldwin, a puny human by the way, he's never seen a gym all his life. I would have killed him just like I killed his father and all of this would have been over.”

“You were going to live there without me?”

Gosh, he sounded so broken but I couldn't care in the moment, all the things I'd gone through just a day after getting back were literally reinforcing my point.

“Our arrival on Earth ruined things. You needed to go back to repair them. I'm sure you would have found a way to come back to me.”

“I'm not sure I understand you Alira. Is Drakkonia that bad?”

I chuckled dryly and found a seat.

His new house was smaller but still a mansion compared to my house in Utah.

The parlour was in the centre and I could see the roof from here, the rooms were up but a rail divided everything so there were two stairs.

Then I could see the kitchen from here,. probably the size of my mother's house.

They loved space over here.

But it was a deathtrap for me.

“Let me tell you a little bit about all I've experienced since I got back. My friends, the only friends I've ever made, they won't talk to me. And yes, that's my fault but if I knew you were going to drag me back here, I would have told them! That aside,” I heaved, “everyone knows I ran away with you and they're treating me like shit!”

“I know, I heard them –”

“But it wasn't directed at you!” I yelled, fighting the tears threatening to spill.

"My Sunshine…”

“You can empathise all you want but you have a cool reputation. The beast of isle five. No one is going to say crap about you behind your back let alone bring that shit to your face and push you around because of it! And what's worse? They're everywhere! In the washroom, at training, on the walkway! Everywhere! And it's all because you put yourself first!”

“My light, I'm so sorry,” he said as he sat on the ground between my legs and grabbed my hands. “I should have paid more attention, I should have… I'm just so sorry about all of this and tomorrow, I'll have a talk with all of them.”

“Don't worry, Florian's already beaten you to that. They don't push me now, just treat me like I don't exist which is a big relief.”

“Florian?”

The jealousy in his voice was thick.

Which meant that the other reason I came to see him might not be as easy as I thought.

“I told you he's my friend, why are you calling his name?”

“Nothing, you just sounded very… familiar with him.”

“Have you… heard of multiple Soul Ties?”

He frowned and gave me an odd look.

“I must have seen it somewhere somehow. You know I read all the time. Why?”

“Eruwan mentioned it and refused to explain what it meant.”

I wasn't exactly lying.

“I don't know and I don't care. I don't share and the gods know that so they definitely won't give you another male.”

“What will happen if they do?”

“Is that what you want? I thought it was an odd thing on your planet too!”

“It's odd, yes, but only if one or two of the parties involved are lying.”

“Oh.”

“But just humour me, I have forgiven you for pulling me down here and I intend to fully use your brain as my Library now. Principal Draco's orders.”

He chuckled a bit but before answering, something crossed his eyes.

“Well if you ever meet another Soul Tie, which I hope never happens, I hope to have proven myself enough to you that you can reject them for me.”

Uh oh.

“Let's hope that never happens. What do you have to eat in this house?” I stood up and headed to the kitchen quickly so he wouldn't see me fighting more tears.

Gosh, I'm fucking screwed.

Draco's mark literally lived on top of all my scales, how am I supposed to hide this forever?
