Chapter 117 CHAPTER 117

Chapter 117 CHAPTER 117
He found a pool quickly, I don't think I can count how many of these beautiful water bodies are scattered all over the kingdom.

I quickly descend into it, Principal Draco at the edge, watching me.

He watches me as I get in with my clothes, as I pull them down to wash my intimate areas, and as I readjust them back in place.

“You're not washing as well?” I ask him when I'm done.

He shakes his head.

“That means you're not going back with me?”

He thinks about it.

“That's fine, I'll have Styx take you back. I have no business with Zade anymore anyway. Although he needed something from me earlier. Bring him with you for the doctor's visit tomorrow.”

I nodded.

Hopefully, we won't be here by tomorrow.

When I got back, my clothes were no longer wet.

Benefits of being hot, literally, and then Styx's speed were the equivalent of being in a washing machine spinner.

When I opened the door, I had an explanation at the tip of my tongue but all the words died when I saw Zade's frustrated face.

And then he let out an outraged growl.

“Calm down baby, What's wrong?” I rushed to him.

“It's not working, it's just not… working,” his knees hit the ground. “I've tried everything the book says but it's not…”

“Come with me, leave everything and come.”

“But I need to –”

“You need to sleep. You can deal with it using fresh eyes tomorrow. Come on, I'm not taking no for an answer.”

He allowed me to pull him up, my guilt buried deep down as I took him to the bathroom, pulled off his clothes and mine then I watched him wash himself.

“How did you manage to get him to leave?” He asked, his mood tamer.

“Stop thinking about anything Zade, come and sleep.”

I forced my heart rate to be normal even though it was threatening to spill out of my chest.

Thankfully he didn't have anything to be suspicious of so I pulled him to the bed.

“Don't you want to shower as well?”

“You forgot you bathed me after I threw up?”

“Oh, that's true. Forgive me. I'm just disappointing you in every way,” he sighed dejectedly.

“Don't you dare think in such a self-deprecating way. You're amazing and I know how lucky I am to have you. You have no idea how much I love you Zade.”

“You love me?”

“Don't act as I've never told you before.”

“Wouldn't hurt to hear it more often,” he smiled with an easy smile and I kissed his forehead.

“I love you. I'm in love with you. You're the love of my life. Better?”

“Much better,” he smiled, adjusted and closed his eyes.

Soon, he was asleep, leaving me awake with wild thoughts.

The evening I just had was a wild one and I'm not talking about being at the brink of death again.

Memories of the Principal handling me like that made me clench again, the memory replaying in my head over and over again.

After several attempts, I finally untangled myself from the sinful thoughts and went to sleep.

I woke up to an empty bedside.

My hand reached out and the side Zade was supposed to have slept in was cold.

How long has he been out of bed?

I got into proper clothes and rushed downstairs.

“Sunshine, I figured it out! This whole time, I've been going about it the wrong way!” He bubbled on in excitement.

“Yeah?” I smiled, hope bourgeoning in my chest, “What is it?”

I walked to the table he'd moved all the books to so I could see what he was talking about.

“So the veil, yeah? I was thinking it was a door, something I need to pull open from this side but it's a membrane. I've been trying to force an opening through the Veil. That's what all these other books suggest because the Main book doesn't exactly give you the process, you're supposed to interpret the process using your own connection to the magic of our planet. It wasn't working because I was trying to kick down a door rather than using two hands to separate the mucus so we can pass through.”

“I'm going to pretend I understand all of this. But I still don't understand why it's so difficult for me to love when all it took to bring me here, out and back in was blinking.”

“Oh, that's from a different book. It's your family that can tell you more about how that one works.”

“One day you're going to have to tell me what you know about my family, Zade.”

“You don't need any of that baby, just trust me.”

“If you insist,” I breathe. “So, are we going to be able to leave?”

“Yes, I just need to find where the membrane is thin enough and it's perfect because tonight, the two suns will stay longer than usual for about twenty minutes. We just walk through it.”

“Just like that?”

“It's not as easy as it sounds, the timing must be perfect. Otherwise, we'll end up on a different planet and I don't even want to think about the consequences of that. Just be ready, this evening.”

“Can I go and return Master Florian’s sword to him while you round up?” I say, getting up.

He gives me an odd look before it passed.

“That's okay. Just be back before the suns begin their descent. We want to have the chance to come back if anything goes wrong.”

“Oh that's true,” I realised. If we walked into the middle of one of the wars in the Middle East, it would be wise to do a U-turn I guess.

I kissed him before heading out.

My plan was to see him for the last time; hopefully, he's back already. I need to give him my answer.

He'll be upset but it's better than disappearing without him knowing he can be with someone else.
