Chapter 115 CHAPTER 115
When I woke up, I was in familiar surroundings.
“Zade?” I called, panic slowly creeping into my body.
“Down here Sunshine,” he called back.
Before I could get to the living room, I felt it.
It wasn't easier because I'd done it before but I knew what was coming so I quickly ran to the bathroom and began emptying my guts.
I should add poison-resistant immune system to my LinkedIn profile when I get back to Earth because at this point, I'm a pro at handling it.
After a few seconds, the door opened.
“She told me to expect the vomiting,” he whispered, coming closer and pulling my hair away from my face. “I'm sorry I didn't think of this after you fainted. I applied my mother's medicines and thought that would be okay.”
“It's… not… your fault, ugh, shit. It's not your fault somebody is desperate to kill me.”
“They won't, I won't allow it happen. You hear me?”
I nodded, spitting out phlegm and scooping water with my hands to wash my face.
“Let me bathe you, your temperature is quite concerning.”
I didn't say anything but he waited until I wasn't throwing up again and then he washed me clean, swaddled me in his very big clothes and then took me downstairs.
“I made some actual food,” he said, pulling out a Drakkonian delicacy that I'd seen in his family's house the other time.
“I noticed you liked the hatuvi so I made it for you when I got back. I didn't realise you were going through something food can't cure.”
“Oh it can cure something else that's equally important,” I said as my stomach grumbled.
“Awesome.”
He splayed it out, it was some fibre root pounded and seasoned properly and a large steak by the side.
Everything Drakkonia had a side of Steak, I won't be surprised they're taking it alongside tea.
“How did your day go?” I asked him as I dug into the food and a moan slipped out of me.
“That good?”
“You're very good with your hands sir.”
“You can thank my mom for that, she didn't let me wander out of the kitchen like my father wanted. And about my day, it went quite well actually.”
“It did?” I looked up to find him smiling.
“Yes. He's taken care of.”
“Alright, I know you are strong and can be a little cuckoo sometimes but smiling at the thought of murder doesn't sit well with me Zade. Even though the person in question is a stupid idiot.”
“Yes, that he is and no, he's not dead.”
Now I looked up with a frown.
“He's not?”
“What's the point of killing him? We're leaving anyway. But I locked him down at the last bowels of our dungeon. Level 13 is where nobody wants to go, many prefer death to it and he'll learn his lesson before being released.”
Or his father will send Principal Draco a letter signed by the King and the boy will be free to walk again, tormenting more people.
“It's fine, we're leaving anyway,” I said to him, suddenly losing my appetite.
“That's exactly what I thought.”
“How's the portal coming along?” I asked, looking at the books splayed on the table, a little bit more arranged than before but still, he was busy at work.
He sighed, standing up from the new couch.
“It's not as simple as I thought it'd be, I'm still doing research and indirectly asking my cousin about how it works. But I'm close, I can feel it.”
I nodded.
“Thank you Zade, for doing this rather than shutting me down.”
“Your life is at stake here and you're the reason I want to keep waking up every morning. This is more a selfish act than it is for you. If anything happens to you, I don't know how I'll proceed. I was able to get by before because I didn't know what it felt like to have you in my life but now that I know… I'm just happy you're taking me with you.”
“I'm happy too, although I fear you'd get bored quickly and rush back here.”
“I've stayed in that library for decades Alira, I don't think anything can bore me.”
“You're amazing,” I breathed, looking at him, meaning every word. He's perfect, the type of man that makes one lose their marbles.
And he wasn't demanding at all, ready to do anything for my happiness.
I'm happy I walked into that library honestly, how else would I have met him?
He bent down, kissed my lips and stood up.
“I have to get back to work now, I'm –”
A knock interrupted Hun and I furrowed my brows.
“Are you expecting anyone?” I asked before my nose told me who was outside.
“Shit, it's Draco, he can't see any of this,” he whispered.
“I'll go distract him,” I jumped up, washing my hands.
“Are you sure? He might insist on coming inside.”
“Then I'll stall him long enough for you to get everything cleared out.”
“Okay, that'll work.”
The knock came again, this time harder than before and I rushed to the door.
I opened it and slipped out, and suddenly the cold hit my skin.
My body was covered by Zade's shirt but it was a big shirt, not thick and it stopped below my knees, the chest area open as well.
“Alira,” Principal Draco's voice pulled me away from my worried musings.
“Good evening sir, I was looking for you earlier.”
“You were looking for me?”
“Yes, I was poisoned again. I need you to go with me to the doctor. As weird as he is, he holds the information on my parents and this is the only way to figure out why I keep getting targeted.”
“I was actually coming to see Zade about… your situation.”
“Situation?” I scoffed, “Sir he's my Soul Tie and unlike some other people, he loves being with me. It's not a situation. Besides, he's busy at the moment. We can go and come back.”
“You want us to go now?”
“Yes? Is that a problem?”
“You're wearing…”
“His clothes, I know, but they cover me well.”
“I should be yelling at you Alira,” he muttered, an edge to his voice.
“What did I do?”
“The entire school is abuzz with news of –”
“He's my Soul Tie, I've not been here that long but even I know that that means something important. You yourself said it, so what did I do wrong? Is love forbidden in the Kalutian Academy?”
“Between students and instructors, that's how it's always been. You're supposed to hold off until you graduate before getting together.”
“I'm also supposed to be safe from leeches, students trying to kill me and magic portal wielders trying to kidnap me in the middle of the night. He helps keep me safe and where I'm coming from, I'm actually an adult so these rules don't apply to me.”
“You're in our world now but let's go, we'll discuss this later.”
I watched him climb the Steed and then went to go to his back but he grunted, sending more shadows than necessary and moved me to his front.
Then he whispered in my ear in that, dark, seductive voice of his;
“Don't think I've forgotten last night so quickly.”
