Elara was still standing up for me, "Ms. Martinez, aren't you even a little angry?"
"Why should I be angry? It's not worth it." I took a bite of food and chewed it slowly.
Brian was quietly eating his meal beside us, seemingly uninterested in the earlier scene.
"But..." Elara wanted to say something more.
But I interrupted her. "Elara, let's eat first."
Elara had no choice but to close her mouth and focus on her meal.
The meal was quite pleasant overall, but when it came time to pay, Brian beat me to it.
"I said I would treat you." I felt a bit embarrassed.
"You can treat me next time," Brian said.
"Alright then," I agreed.
On the way back, Elara was still brooding over Henry's matter, "Ms. Martinez, do you really not care about Mr. Phillips at all?"
I replied, "Elara, what good would it do to care? He doesn't love me anymore."
Elara nodded, somewhat understanding.
Back at the hospital, Brian checked my condition, which was still stable.
"Dr. Scott, thank you," I sincerely thanked him.
"You're welcome; it's my duty," Brian said, glancing at his phone. "I have something to attend to. You need to avoid exertion and get plenty of rest."
He had reminded me of this many times, and I always agreed.
Elara placed the documents aside and looked around the hospital room; "Mrs. Martinez, have you been hospitalized for the past few days?"
"Has Mr. Phillips come to see you? Does he know you're sick?"
I shook my head slightly. "He doesn't know yet."
Elara was almost in tears. "Why not tell Mr. Phillips? He's your husband; he should be by your side taking care of you."
To be honest, I never thought Henry would come to take care of me if he knew I was sick and had surgery.
Even if he found out I had surgery, he would probably be happy about it.
After all, he had always hated me and would love to see me suffer. The more miserable I was, the happier he would be.
"There's no need to tell him," I said while organizing the documents and instructing Elara.
Elara cursed, "I used to think he was a good man, but it turns out he's just a scumbag. Ms. Martinez, you're too kind. If it were me, I would just get a divorce."
If I considered the compensation, I had indeed thought about divorce.
But if money wasn't a factor, I didn't really want a divorce. Henry was the first man I ever loved, and I had loved him for so many years that it had become a habit.
I couldn't deny that I still loved him.
I just said bitterly, "He wouldn't agree to a divorce."
If Henry wanted a divorce, it would have happened long ago.
He didn't refuse to divorce because he couldn't bear to leave me; he just wanted to use the marriage to bind me and torment me with those other women.
I knew all of Henry's thoughts, and he knew all of my pain points. Every time, he would strike where it hurt the most.
Elara seemed very confused, a hint of bewilderment in her eyes.
I tapped her on the head gently. "The most important thing right now is the design draft. Let's put everything else aside for now."
She agreed, "Ms. Martinez, what documents are you looking for? I'll help you find them."
I said, "Find the sales data and style trends of the Sullivan Group from the past few years. The current information is incomplete. Check the Sullivan Group's official website and download all the relevant data for me."
Elara opened her phone and showed me the screen. "Ms. Martinez, it looks like Mr. Phillips has brought Aria home."
