Chapter 21 Infiltration

Chapter 21 Infiltration
Fifteen minutes later Quisito’s car pulled up to the mansion with a screeching sound. Through her window, she watched how his men immediately surrounded him and informed him of everything crazy that happened that day.

Even as his men continued to bombard him with the details of the attack, he unexpectedly looked up to her room, precisely at the spot she stood. Immediately she gasped and moved aside and hid behind the wall, shielding herself from his view.

Did he know that she had a part in it?

Her stomach churned at the thought and she expected him to break into her room any second. Kate’s eyes darted to her room’s door, anticipating him to walk through it like a grim reaper. Sweat beads trickled her spine as her breathing shallowed. She waited for the thunder, but it never came.

Hours rolled by and night approached, but he never came into her room to accuse her of anything like she feared. And that gave her the confidence to carry out the mission that night – The mission to destroy Quisito.

Analyzing the sounds in the adjacent room, she understood that he was getting ready to leave for the charity event. Kate was sitting on the bed and was about to take out the earpiece from under the mattress when suddenly, the door knob to her room twisted.

She didn’t even think. In split second, Kate rolled back on the bed and covered half of her body with the wrinkly blanket. She closed her eyes and laid perfectly still, to look as though she was passed out.

When Quisito entered her room, he frowned at the sight of her sleeping because he was looking forward to steal a kiss before leaving. At that moment, she looked so innocent and restful that he didn’t want to wake her up. He refrained from taking her to that night’s occasion because he knew that it was going to be exhaustingly long and she would become bored easily.

His let his eyes scan her sleeping form one last time before deciding to leave. After turning off the lights he exited her room, got into his car and drove away.

Kate opened her eyes into darkness, relieved to know that he had left. It was time for action. She fetched the earpiece, fixed it to her ear and clicked the call button. Two rings later came Placebo’s professional voice.

“Hello Kate, if I’m not wrong, you are in your room, right?”

“Y-yes” her voice was not more than a whisper because she was afraid that his men might be eavesdropping on her.

“Good! Now go to his room. I’ll tell you how to find the information”

Before walking out of her room into his, she covered the earpiece with her hair. The spicy cologne he wore to the occasion welcomed her the moment she closed his room’s door behind her. She remembered his warning where he asked her not to enter his room, but now she didn’t care for his words because she had someone else helping her.

“I’m inside” Kate informed as she floated deeper into his room.

“Look for binder files and if you find any, open them and tell me what’s written inside” Placebo instructed and she immediately began searching the huge shelf where a few books were kept. When she moved them aside, she found three files scooted against the back of the shelf.

“I got them!” she squealed excitedly and pulled out all three of them.

“Great job! Now recite the contents” he said and she narrated the information in the first file to him.

“That’s not the information we are looking for Kate, try the next one” she complied but the second file also proved to be futile.

“I’m going to read the last one” Kate said before giving him the details written in geographical language.

“PERFECT! THAT’S IT” Placebo commended excitedly and she hugged the file to her chest like it was her salvation.

“Get back to your room and sent me it’s pictures from your phone”

She put back the other two files in the shelf and carefully got back to her room with the one that contained the required information.

She opened the file on the bed and clicked pictures of the papers and sent it to Placebo’s number she had saved earlier.

She did it!!!

Her heart did a victory dance at the accomplishment. Her happiness knew no bounds as she grinned from ear to ear.

But...her joy was short-lived when she felt a whip of cold air behind her.

What was it?

Kate slowly turned around to see what it was and her eyes widened when she saw Quisito’s huge frame towering at her door. Rage burned in his eyes and his chest rose and fell rapidly, as if he had been running like a cheetah.

Her breath staggered and she visibly trembled when he advanced towards her in heavy steps, venom dripping from every cell of his being. She nervously gulped and stood frozen to her spot, too afraid to even make the slightest movement.

He was enraged beyond limits and he looked like he wanted to rip apart the whole world – Her world. Placebo was still talking something, but to Kate he was completely mute because all her senses were busy drinking in the features of the man, whom she was most petrified of at that moment.
