Chapter 66: Taken By Surprise-2

Using my left hand, I dragged Blaire's body back with me as I quickly retreated. My right hand concurrently pulled out my concealed gun and I immediately pointed it in their direction.

"I just knew you had a gun on you!" Miguel accused, his eyes narrowing at my Beretta M9 as he sneered, "Do you even know how to use such a big weapon?"

Without hesitation, I smirked while putting my training to use and shot three of the seven men in the head, narrowly missing Miguel before I ducked behind another booth. The swift movement unfortunately meant

leaving Blaire's body halfway in the path.

"You fucking bitch!" Miguel shouted as he began shooting at the cubicle I hid behind, emptying his magazine.

I drowned out the screams of the remaining customers. Taking a few calming breaths, I blocked everything out, solely focusing on the sounds of the gun. I kept my body low as my eyes looked at the dead face of my best friend, her lifeless light brown eyes staring blankly back at me.

The guilt I felt threatened to consume me.

I should have followed my gut! I should have been more persistent with Blaire and called this whole thing off. Jee-min had always told me to follow my instincts. Since this morning, I had been feeling uneasy and wanted to reschedule and just focus on finalising things for the surprise reveal we were planning to do for James tomorrow.

Nonetheless, Blaire had insisted that we go through with this plan. Now she was dead and I had no one to blame but myself. My eyes were glassy with unshed tears.

I would do everything in my power to avenge my best friend, even if it meant sacrificing my own life.

While biting the inside of my right cheek, I quickly removed my gold charm bracelet and placed it discreetly in Blaire's hand, knowing that Dominic and the others would find it. Just in case I did not make it out

alive, at least it would be in safe and familiar hands.

Keeping my breathing steady, I listened as the Mexican ran out of bullets, then heard as he replaced his magazine.

"The only reason you aren't dead yet is because my boss wants you alive!

More of our men will be here soon, and as good as you are, you can't fight us all!" Miguel shouted as he added, "To think, I couldn't believe my luck today, I was just coming to collect some intel from the lovely Rosita when she called and told me she had something extra for me..."

As the man blabbered on, I peeked my head out to the side of the booth once more, I then swiftly fired my gun and blew out the knee of another Mexican.

The man fell to the ground and cried in agony as he clutched his bleeding limb. Cursing in Spanish, Miguel quickly put the man out of his misery as he shot him in the head. He then yapped at the remaining two men, telling them to stay close.

In that moment Cristiano burst through the entrance and shot the two other men in the back of the head, their bodies crashing to the floor in front of him.

Aiming the CW9 gun that he found in my glove compartment at Miguel, he instructed, "On your knees, dog!"

Laughing low in his throat, the Mexican dropped his weapon and did as he was told, "What are you doing, boy? You're making a big mistake,

Cristiano."

"Shut up!" he yelled as he called out, "Jade, Blaire! Are you guys okay? We need to get out of here right now!"

I stood just in time to see more heavily armed men move into the building and, before Cristiano knew what was going on, he had a large assault rifle pressed against the back of his own head. He was instructed to drop the weapon, and with a defeated sigh, the small gun clattered to the floor.

Picking up his weapon as he rose to his feet, Miguel grabbed Cristiano by the back of his neck and pushed him to his knees in front of him, his dark eyes blazing at me.

"Now..." Miguel pressed the gun hard into Cristiano's temple, "Do you want to watch another friend die because of your arrogance?"

Not willing to risk it, I placed my weapon on the floor and walked towards Miguel and his men. As I approached them, I was quickly manhandled as one of them tightly held my hands behind my back while I watched as the Fuentes twin brought Cristiano to his feet.

With an evil smile, Miguel said, "You should have called my bluff.

Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to kill the son of José Hernández García"

What. The. Actual. Fuck?

My green eyes widened, the shock of his words momentarily paralysing me. Shifting my gaze between the two, I waited for one of them to say that it was not true. I focused my gaze on Cristiano and realised that what the Mexican had said was true as a look of remorse washed over my friend's features.

"I'm sorry..." Cristiano said.

Hearing the same words Blaire had expressed as she died, it was as though something snapped within me.

With a scream, I suddenly began using my Wing Chun moves. The fighting style focused more on fending off larger attackers and was not based on strength or power, but rather on quickness and reflex training at very close range.

This put me at a great advantage, as Jee-min had trained me for such situations. If I could keep my focus and not let my emotions overtake me, there might be a chance for me to stall them for a bit longer until help arrived.

Remembering everything Jee-min had taught me over the years, I immediately sprang into action.

I quickly smashed the back of my head into the man's nose, instantly breaking it. The pain of his injury made him release me, and as another man lunged at me, I grabbed his arm, braced against his hand and immediately broke his wrist and propelled him into the body of the man with the broken nose, the both of them falling to the floor.

Two other men moved towards me. Since they were not allowed to shoot me, they had to do their best to subdue me with their bare hands.

Ha! Good luck to them! I thought with a smirk.

As the large men came rushing at me, I used their weight against them and easily pummelled them to the floor.

Another man charged, catching me off-guard as I was preoccupied with the last two guys. As I turned to face him, he punched me in the face then grabbed at my neck, attempting to choke me unconscious.

My lip was split from the impact but I recovered quickly as Jee-min had trained me over the years in how to take such hits. Not to mention that the pain would only serve to focus my rage even more. As I tasted my own blood, I snarled with renewed energy.

Moving with accuracy, I positioned my hands as though I were praying.

Bringing my hands into the space between his arms allowed me to grab his head and weakened his hold on me. Without hesitation, I used my thumbs and pressed them into his eyeballs, gauging them out.

The man screamed and completely let me go, grabbing his face.

I then viciously kicked him in his groin a few times before I turned towards the other men. Pulling the small switchblade from my left back pocket, I raised my bloody fists.

"You men aren't worth shit without your guns!" I spat blood on the floor then, "Come at me!"

Cristiano stood transfixed as he was held back by one of the armed men. I knew that he knew I could fight, but from the way his wide eyes looked at me, it was clear that he had no idea I was this efficient.

Most people did not know that I was a weapon waiting to be unleashed.

Dominic's weapon, to be more precise. This was what I had been training years for, to be an efficient killing machine, eager to do his bidding.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Cristiano looking for Blaire as though Miguel's words had just registered. As his eyes quickly looked around the room, it was then he noticed the raven-haired girl lying dead on the floor.

Screaming out, he began to fight against the man holding him, twisting his body left and right, hoping to loosen the hold on him. Unfortunately, Cristiano's efforts were met with him being hit on the back of the head, causing him to instantly lose consciousness.

Refocusing on the new set of men coming towards me, I continued to use hand to hand combat.

My knife made quick work of the oncoming assailants, as I evaded their blows and stabbed my weapon at them. With clean and precise movements, I effortlessly sliced at the front of their throats, their blood gushing and staining the floor below.

Miguel huffed impatiently and I did not see the gun he pointed, but I sure felt the sting as my skin was pierced.

Immediately, darkness consumed me as I fell to the floor.

Fuck..
