Chapter 16
Morgan and I arrived at our destination, his beach house. It was a stunning house, and the view of the sea was incredible. We were exhausted after spending hours on the road, so we rested for a while, and in the evening, we planned to explore the town. Morgan wanted to show me around a bit.
"Did you manage to rest?" he asked.
"Yes, a little. And you?" I replied.
"I watched you sleep, princess. You look like an angel while sleeping," he said with a seductive smile.
"You should have slept, too. We spent hours on the road, and you must be tired," I expressed my concern.
"I'm fine, don't worry," he assured me.
"I'm not worried, I just thought we were going to see the city, and if you're tired, it will be difficult," I teased him.
"Haha, that was good," he laughed.
"I must have turned into a comedian because you always say I'm funny. I don't find any of this amusing; I just speak my mind," I said honestly.
"Let's not start, please. I just want this night to be pleasant, to have a cheerful conversation, get to know each other, and forget all this crap that happened, can we?" he said, sounding irritated.
"Okay, calm down, Mr. DOM Morgan," I replied.
"Go get ready; we have a reservation for 8:00," he said, restlessly.
"I'll be ready in half an hour," I assured him.
"Please don't be late," he said, feeling uneasy.
Half an hour passed, and Morgan had already yelled at me three times, impatiently waiting for me. Finally, I was ready. I was wearing a red dress, the color of sin, with an open back and a revealing neckline, causing Morgan to visibly express his anger. It was as if he was shooting fire from his eyes.
"Are you ready already?" he said, surprised.
"Yes, I'm ready," I replied confidently.
"You can't wear that dress; I don't like it. Look at your chest all exposed. Do you want to give someone a reason to die?" he tried to convince me to change.
"I have to admit, there's one thing we agree on – you don't have to like the dress because you won't be the one wearing it, and I'm going with it," I said confidently and determined.
"It seems like arguing with you won't make you change your clothes. I just hope no one dares to look at you with other eyes. I don't want to be forced to kill someone because you decided to torture me today," he said, irritated.
"Now that we're settled, let's go. I'm eager to dance," I said, laughing.
"With that dress, you won't be dancing anywhere. Just behave, the people here are not used to the city's hustle and bustle," he warned.
"Whatever you say," I replied.
As we arrived at the restaurant, I was greeted with an incredible lake and a pleasant view of friendly people. Morgan and I were enjoying the night together for the first time in our lives. We even had a conversation like normal people. At one point, I left Morgan alone for a moment and went to the restroom. I felt spectacular in my beautiful red dress with a provocative color. I took my phone to take a selfie in front of the bathroom mirror and noticed missed calls from Fabian, so I called her back to see what had happened.
"Hello, friend. Is everything okay?" I asked, concerned.
"I called to check if you arrived safely on your trip. I heard the weather wasn't good for the mountains," she said, worried.
"We're fine; we're having dinner at a restaurant in town, quite nice, actually," I assured her.
"Have fun. Laura, I called just to make sure you're okay, but it looks like the night will be interesting for you guys," she said.
I laughed, "Sorry, I should have called as soon as we arrived. I hope it will be interesting, at least."
She smiled, "I won't judge. Morgan is a handsome man, and what a body he has. Oh, my. Even though he's a devil, he's a good-looking one."
"I can't deny he has an incredible body. But I won't forget my focus; I can't let this man take over my mind. Friend, I need to hang up now; he's probably getting impatient, waiting for me. I said I'd only touch up my makeup. I'll call you as soon as we get back to the house to tell you everything," I promised.
"Alright, friend. Enjoy your dinner and have a good night. Love you, you vixen. Kisses!" she said.
"Love you too, vixen. Kisses!" I replied.
After ending the call, I finished touching up my makeup and heard footsteps approaching me in the restroom. What the hell was this? I thought. In such a large restroom, why are they coming so close to me? When I turned around, I saw a woman, the same one from the hospital.
"Who are you?" I asked, frightened.
"I'm Loren Bélier, DOM Morgan's wife," she said, smirking.
When she said she was Morgan's wife and gave that superior smile, I stopped hearing everything around me. It was like a loud buzzing in my ears that made me unable to hear what she was saying.
"Are you listening to me?" she asked.
"Yes, I am. I didn't understand what you meant by 'wife'," I asked, intrigued.
"Apparently, he never told you about me. Morgan and I are officially married; we are separated in body, but married by law," she revealed.
"He never told me anything about this. We already have everything planned for the wedding, and we're engaged," I said.
"Probably, it will be a fake wedding. He can't be married to two people at the same time. Listen carefully to what I'm going to tell you, Laura. You will never be happy with my husband. Don't think that your innocent face fools me," she said with anger.
"Who do you think you are to talk to me like this?" I said.
Pushing me against the wall, she held a knife to my throat. I was completely shaken, thinking she might kill me right there.
"Listen well, you little tramp. I will take away everything you love in your life. Everything I suffered because of you, you will suffer it too, and even worse. I won't kill you because death is too little for what you deserve, you whore," she yelled, pressing the knife harder against my neck.
"Dreaming is free, but don't exaggerate, darling. You may try to take my place, but I doubt you'll succeed. Morgan won't go back to you, even if I leave his life," I screamed, hoping someone would hear me and come to my rescue.
With the knife still pressed against my throat, she managed to make a small cut, and I felt a bit of blood trickling down my neck. I fell to the ground, and she kicked me. I was too weak to fight back. The last thing I remember is Morgan entering the restroom, taking the knife from her hand, and then I blacked out.
