AUTHOR'S NOTE
Wow, we finally made it to the end! What a long journey it’s been, right?
I’d like to say a few things, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for unlocking this extra chapter to read my words.
First, I need to be honest. I didn’t expect Divorcing You This Time to get this far. I didn’t think so many people would give this story a chance, especially considering it’s not a very popular theme on the platform. This book is completely different from what I usually write. My books always have depth, always. There’s always something I want to convey, a deeper lesson, something that helps people—regardless of the genre. But Divorcing was different.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I cried while writing most of the chapters. This book was truly therapeutic. I also confess that I wrote it for myself, as a way to deal with my own overwhelming perfectionism, to try and accept my flaws as a human being and share something I truly believe in: it’s never too late to start over, and no mistake should define us when we’re genuinely sorry.
This was also my way of coping with grief. I lost someone close around the time the idea for Divorcing came to me, and my mind was in a really dark place.
If you’re a regular reader and have read my other books, you probably already know I’ve been battling depression and anxiety for over ten years. And if you started following this story when it launched, you likely experienced that long hiatus with me. I’m sorry for that. I was going through a really tough time and needed to step away. But what kept me here was you—my readers. I knew I had a responsibility. I knew I needed to finish Divorcing and Submitting. So I found my strength, gave it everything I had, and came back.
Now, the Esliee from a year ago can finally rest. I’ve finished both books. I know, they’re not perfect. I had to rewrite the beginning of Divorcing three times. English isn’t my first language, so I was learning and refining it—along with my writing—chapter by chapter. I did a LOT of research. Seriously, a LOT. Most of the work on this book went into studying culture, legal systems, and medical terminology. I wanted to give you the best of me—as a person, as a writer—and I swear I did my best. So I’m sorry if it still wasn’t enough. Like I said, Divorcing was therapeutic, but I’m still learning how to deal with my own expectations, and how hard I am on myself and my work.
Just like Christopher and Charlotte closed a chapter and started a new one, I’m doing the same. Today, I’m taking another step—one that scares me, yes—but I’ve always liked pushing myself. I want to be stronger. I want to keep giving my best and writing stories that touch people, teach something, or at least offer a new perspective. I want to keep receiving the love and support of my readers, because it’s the biggest strength I could ever have.
So I have a few more thoughts to share.
The characters took on lives of their own, and the story went in a completely different direction than I originally planned—but honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. I didn’t force MY will as the author; I let the characters and events unfold naturally, like life does. Things don’t always go according to plan; life is unpredictable and, at times, frustrating. The routine, the repetition, the silly persistence… all of it is part of being human and what makes us appreciate the good things. If it weren’t for the boredom, the pain, the tears—would we really value the smiles, the laughter, the surprises? I thought a lot about that when I was at rock bottom. I’ve lived with depression most of my life, and honestly, I don’t even know what life without it feels like anymore. But that doesn’t discourage me… because I know it makes me even more grateful for the good things, no matter how small.
This isn’t romanticizing pain—it’s simply being thankful for the kindness, the love, the affection, and the good things God brings into my life, even when everything feels dark. It’s the hope that things will get better. And if you’ve read my book all the way through, I hope you feel that hope too.
As for William… I fell for him. I admit, that wasn’t part of the plan. But just like the rest of the book, he was a surprise—and he won me over. That’s why I’ve decided to write a book just about him. It won’t be as long as Divorcing You This Time. In fact, both Sebastian and William will have their own follow-up stories, but they’ll be shorter. I feel the need to do something smaller alongside the bigger projects, so you can definitely look forward to that.
Right now, I’m working on something new. A book that brings Esliee back to what she does best: AGE GAP, SPICE, and MAFIA—times three. My new story brings together elements from my biggest hits, along with something new: a reverse harem. Three very different men, all with equally intense ways of loving. And the best part? You won’t have to pick a side.
“TRAPPED BETWEEN ENEMIES” is my newest book and will be available starting November.
You can follow updates on my new Instagram account, which I created to be a bit closer to all of you, my amazing readers. It’s still private because I’m organizing a few things, but feel free to send a follow request—I’ll accept every one of you: @eslieewisdon
In the meantime, if you haven’t read my other books and would like to, here they are:
• FALLEN FOR DADDY’S FRIEND: Age-gap, office romance, and Julian (Trust me, you’re going to fall for him)
• SUBMITTING TO MY MASTER CEO: BDSM, also an office romance, and of course, Abraham. (Your heart will find a place for him too.)
That’s all for now.
Thank you all for making it this far.
I love you.
Esliee ❤️
