Chapter 22 It's me on a sick bed
The day ended and it was time to go back home and since we are roommates with Liam,we drove one car so today we came using mine.
“Ava I think I'm going to drive please give me the keys,” he suggested because I wasn't feeling well and I handed him the keys.
“Ava today I'm going dinner for both of us so we won't make a stop at the restaurant,”he said and I just nodded my head
We were still on the way when the traffic lights came on red but the car kept moving,
“Hey you need to stop,the lights are showing red,” I shouted
“Ava I'm trying but the brakes are not working…,” he replied while fidgeting with the brakes but they weren't working
“What do you mean by they're not working!? Liam watch out you are going to hit someone,” I screamed
He tried dodging the cars but we were moving at a high speed and we both became restless,
“Ava hang on tight because I'm going to hit that pole over there…it's better than running over a car,” he said while aiming at the pole alongside the road.
“Careful Liam Mmm….oh my Goddd!” I screamed and the next thing I heard was a bang then I blacked out.
“Ava Ava get up please…,” I heard Liam's voice but my head was too heavy so I failed to lift it up and my vision was blurry
He first unbuckled me and moved out of the car then opened the passenger door to pull me out of the car…the next thing I heard were ambulance sirens and I blacked out again.
I don't know what really happened next but when I woke up I felt really weak and my head felt heavy but when I tried to touch it,I felt a bandage tied around it and when I looked closely I saw Liam resting his head on the bed so I lightly touched him.
“Hey you're up,thank God,” he quickly got and I had never seen him wearing this big and cute smile before like today.
“Come on, you thought I was dead!??” I made a joke
“Haha not that! But I was worried sick about you and I'm sorry that you woke up when I was dosing,” he apologized
“No it's okay,no need of apologizing…so how long have I been unconscious?” I asked him
“Well I think it's like five hours,” he replied
“Damn!! Those were many hours, no wonder you were hell scared…so how come you're perfectly fine and I'm laying on this sick bed??” I asked
“Ava,when I hit the pole,I banged my head on the airbag unlike you who hit the dashboard and I think that explains the bandage around your head right now,” he tried explaining to me.
“Ohh I understand…but I'm feeling a lot of pain around my head,” I cried out.
“I understand Ava but the doctors are going to do their best to make sure you're back to normal,” he replied
“I hope so because I even hate hospitals…but what really happened??” I asked
“Ava I think someone messed with our car brakes because they weren't working at all,” he replied
“But who might want to wish me death?? Someone who messed with the brakes wanted me to end up dead, there's no question about that,” I layed back on bed with tears in my eyes.
“Ava isn't it obvious!?! It was Linda who left the office earlier today before threatening you and too bad we had used your car so it is clear that she was targeting you,” he replied
“Mhh it makes sense but why are some people so heartless!??” I asked myself
“Ava, that's the kind of life we are living right now…people are selfish and hardly give a shit about anyone,” he replied while touching my hand to calm me down.
“Have you talked to the doctors yet?” I asked
“Yes Ava I did,” he replied
“So what did they say?? When can I get discharged?” I asked
“Uhm about that,he said he will need to do another check up tomorrow at 9am and from that,he will let us know…I know you hate this place and i totally feel you but we need to be patient so that you can get discharged when you're in good shape,” he said
“Okay then…thanks Liam for being here for me,” I squeezed my lips together
“No, don't mention it, we have each other's back and besides that's what friends are for,” he lightly touched my cheek and I smiled.
“What would you like to eat? I assume you're hungry like me because we last ate at lunch and now it's coming to one in the morning,” he asked.
“I would like to eat some noodles and chicken,” I replied
“Okay then,let me go and get it…there's a restaurant across the street…give me some ten minutes and I will be back,” he stood up but I quickly held his hand.
“Yes Ava,do you need anything else?”he asked
“Liam can you please just order online? Don't leave me alone,I'm scared…,” I talked in a low tone.
“Oh I'm really sorry,I shouldn't leave you alone…yes Ava let me just order the food,” he sat back and pulled out his phone.
“Done,so anything I can do to entertain you in the meantime??” He asked
“What do you have in mind?” I asked back
“Well I can dance for you,sing,recite for you a poem, name it,” he smiled.
“Ohh how about you surprise me with those dance moves haha?” I asked
“By the look of things like,it seems you are just daring me because you have it at the back of your mind that I can't really dance huh?!” He asked
“Haha no it's not that…please go ahead and surprise me,I can't wait to see you breaking some bones haha,” I said sarcastically
“Haha no you didn't just say that!!? Okay let me shock you,” he stood up and first put on a song from his phone then he was about to start dancing when we heard a knock on the door and it was a nurse who came to change my IV drip and when she left,
“Hey you can carry on…haha,” I reminded him
“Ava you badly want to see me on the dance floor?? If I break my bones it will be on you,” he said
“Wait what!? I thought you are an expert? Haha,” I laughed out
“Yes I am but today ain't a good day ma'am haha,” he brought up an excuse
“It's me on a sick bed not you so what's your excuse??” I asked him
“If I break my bones,then I'm afraid we will have to share that bed together,” he winked
Before I replied,his phone rang and it was the delivery guy so he had to go and receive it from the hospital entrance.
