Chapter 352: One Hundred Million
Meanwhile, in the hotel's private room.
Neil stuck his neck out and said angrily, "We won't agree, Robert. I'd like to see what Alex can do about it! This is a society ruled by law. If he detains us, that's illegal imprisonment! When he gets arrested for that, won't the whole FitzRoy family be ours!"
Magnolia tugged at him, dissatisfied. "Just shut up for a bit!"
Then she turned to Robert. "Robert, our two families are in this together now - we rise and fall as one. You're usually the one with the most ideas, so come up with something!"
Robert didn't speak. Iris chimed in sarcastically from the side, "What good ideas could my dad possibly have? If Uncle Robert hadn't been so provocative with his words earlier, would we have angered Alexander? And now you want my dad to figure something out."
Craven slammed the table and stood up, pointing at Iris. "Don't act so innocent. If you people hadn't sent someone to harm that woman's unborn child, how would we have brought such serious revenge on ourselves? Our family got dragged down by yours. My dad's straightforward, but he didn't do what he didn't do!"
Iris glared furiously. "How can you say that without a conscience, you..."
"Enough," Robert spoke in a deep voice, cutting off their argument. He sighed. "There's no point in saying all this now. He's coming after both our families, but I agree with Neil - we can't agree to this."
"Once we agree, our two families will lose all initiative in the FitzRoy family. If we want to do anything legitimately in the future, it'll be difficult."
Neil hurried over anxiously. "Robert, that's what I think too. We definitely can't agree to this, but how can we negotiate with him? We don't have any leverage right now!"
"How do we not have leverage? Have you forgotten? Marvin and his wife don't know about this yet." Robert smiled. "We'll call him right now. No matter how hands-off he is, he can't allow Alex to actually sideline us!"
As he spoke, he took out his phone, but when he opened it, he was dumbfounded.
No signal!
Robert quickly looked at Neil. "Check if your phone has signal."
Neil hurriedly pulled out his phone. When he looked, his face turned pale again. "No signal!"
Hearing this, everyone else quickly took out their phones, only to find that none of them had any signal.
"That bastard!" Neil cursed. "From the moment we stepped into this room, we walked right into his trap!"
This room had signal blocking installed - Alexander had been prepared for this move all along!
Robert was certain that Chloe definitely didn't know about this.
If she knew, there's no way she wouldn't intervene!
But now, Chloe had also been taken away by Alexander, otherwise she could have backed them up.
What should they do now?
At the same time, the timers on the black-suited men guarding the room started beeping.
One hour was up.
Three dozen black-suited men immediately moved, taking control of the two families in the private room.
"Mr. FitzRoy invites you to stay at the suburban estate for a while. We believe during this time, you'll definitely be able to figure out what the best choice is."
Craven struggled desperately. "Let me go!"
Two black-suited men gripped him tightly, making him unable to move. All his struggling was futile.
Robert was also held by the arms. He said through gritted teeth, "I want to see Alex. Tell him I have something to say to him!"
"Mr. FitzRoy said unless you agree to his conditions, there's no need to meet again."
Everyone in the room turned deathly pale.
No one had expected that they came with thoughts of fighting for the family fortune, and before they'd even warmed their seats, they'd been forced into a dead end!
If they hadn't gotten greedy and had continued hiding abroad, then no matter how much Alexander hated them, he couldn't have succeeded.
For a moment, Robert and Neil were filled with regret.
What they thought was taking the initiative had turned out to be walking into a trap!
The villa.
With Arabella working hard to mediate between Chloe and Alexander, Chloe quickly let go of her reservations.
Holding Arabella's hand, she asked with concern, "Are you still working? Aren't you tired? If you're tired, have Alex arrange paid leave for you - you don't need to go to the office, but you'll still get your salary. I'll also give you some money, I definitely won't let you be short of cash."
Arabella quickly said, "Grandma, no need. My health is still good, and besides, so many pregnant women work normally until the last month. Why can't I? If I really get too tired to walk, I'll definitely tell Alex in advance."
Chloe said lovingly, "Sigh, I know you feel insecure. I only recently found out about your mother's situation. Don't worry, with the FitzRoy family backing you up, it won't be long before we catch that heartless scumbag."
Arabella nodded. "I know, thank you Grandma."
Chloe patted her head, then took out a bank card from her bag.
She pressed it into Arabella's hand. "Take this."
Seeing Arabella about to refuse, Chloe quickly said, "This isn't for you, it's for the two children. Don't you see the cute cartoon babies on the bank card? Two children, fifty million dollars each. You keep it safe."
After all, once the money was in Arabella's hands, how it was used was up to Arabella.
Arabella naturally understood Chloe's good intentions, but when she heard there was a hundred million dollars in one bank card, she was so shocked her jaw nearly dropped. The card in her hand felt hot, and she quickly stuffed it back into Chloe's bag.
"It's too much, Grandma, I can't take it!"
Last time she met Alexander's family, she received several million dollars, which had made her uneasy all along. But because her relationship with Alexander had remained stable, she'd accepted it.
But how could a few million compare to a hundred million?
She'd never even dreamed this big!
Chloe put on a stern face and stuffed the bank card back into her hand. "If I'm giving it to you, take it."
Alexander on the side wrapped his hand around hers before Arabella could refuse again.
"Take it. You're suffering so much being pregnant and giving birth, giving the FitzRoy family heirs - this is what she should contribute."
Arabella paused. That way of putting it...
Sure enough, this earned Alexander an eye roll from Chloe, but seeing that Arabella had at least accepted the bank card, Chloe magnanimously didn't argue with Alexander.
She sighed. "Originally during your pregnancy, your mom should be at home watching over you, but you both know her temperament - can we rely on her? Better if I do it myself. Before Arabella gives birth, I'll stay here. Don't worry, I definitely won't get in your way or say much to Becky."
Chloe had openly addressed all their concerns, so what else could Arabella say? Naturally she welcomed Chloe to come stay.
Alexander added, "Becky is sensitive. Don't keep telling her to give in to her younger siblings. After the children are born, she doesn't need to give in - she just needs to be herself."
Chloe rolled her eyes at him. "I've lived over seventy years, don't I understand this?"
She said, "Although I've only met Becky a few times, she's sensible, obedient, and knows gratitude. I know you didn't help the wrong person. This child will definitely achieve great things in the future."
As they were chatting, Becky came home from school. As soon as she entered and saw Chloe, she ran over and respectfully called out, "Great Grandma."
Because Arabella and Alexander called her Grandma, being one generation younger, she followed the generational terms from the village where she grew up as a child and called her Great Grandma. The first time she called her that, she was a bit anxious, worried that the city terms might be different from the village and Chloe might look down on her.
Later, learning that the city terms were the same, and that Chloe was very kind to her, Becky finally relaxed.
When Chloe saw Becky, her eyes immediately crinkled with smiles. Although this child was adopted, she was still the first child of this generation of the FitzRoy family. The more she looked at her, the more she liked her.
"Good child, you just got back, are you hungry? Have the kitchen make you something to eat."
Becky smiled. "I'm not hungry. I'll go do my homework first. Oh, by the way—"
She looked at Arabella. "Ms. Bourbon, Seaside City is having an ancient Roman history exhibition this weekend. A few of us classmates agreed to go visit together this weekend - the same classmates as last time. Can I go?"
Arabella's brows furrowed unconsciously. "Go to Seaside City? That's too far. Just you kids going?"
The reason she agreed to the last outing was because they were in Majestic City. When they returned smoothly, she was quite happy for Becky, but this time going to Seaside City... the train ride alone would take several hours!
Becky said carefully, "Because Andy said there are people on the train who provide supervision services. Parents send us to the train station, then those supervisors accompany us to Seaside City and can take care of us on the way. Once we get to Seaside City, we just take a cab to the exhibition."
Although Arabella really wanted to agree, after hesitating for a moment she still shook her head. "No, it's too dangerous. You're only ten years old, taking the train to Seaside City alone - there are too many unpredictable things that could happen. Either let me or Mr. FitzRoy go with you, or have Mr. FitzRoy arrange one or two people to accompany you. I can't agree to you going alone."
Becky was a bit disappointed, but knowing Ms. Bourbon was worried about her, she wasn't upset and said, "Then I'll tell them at school tomorrow that I won't go."
Arabella nodded. In fact, she thought this was probably just an idea the kids came up with on a whim, and those classmates' parents probably wouldn't agree either.
The next day, Alexander took Becky to school early. Arabella's work hours were a bit later, and usually Moris picked her up and dropped her off, so she didn't go with the two of them.
When Becky got to school, she waved goodbye to Alexander as usual, then walked into the school.
As soon as she entered the classroom, Andy came up to her, asking expectantly, "Becky, did your parents agree to us going to Seaside City?"
