Chapter 8: Marriage routine

**SOPHIE MADSON’S POV**

I hear the doorbell ring, and a male voice announces, "Room service, Mr. and Mrs. Wolker."

I opened my eyes, and Steven also came out of his daze. His face set in a frown, just as when he arrived. He quickly left the room, slamming the door behind him.

This is wild—I hope to be his again!

I stood there, rubbing my hair in irritation. I need a shower to cool off and suppress this crazy thought.

I took a leisurely shower, relaxing my body after the tension that occurred minutes ago. I'm not sleepy, so I approach the door that separates the suite's entrance and glance inside. Steven is wearing comfortable clothes with wet hair, sitting on the sofa with a notebook on his lap, examining various papers scattered on the coffee table. With a pen in hand, he signs some sheets and reads attentively.

I realized he was working. Of course, he would do that, considering this marriage is a sham; the honeymoon also becomes one. I sigh and close the door again, returning to the bedroom.

As I lie in my bed, minutes pass, and silence prevails. I gaze at the ceiling, envisioning this will be my married life. It's regrettable but predictable.

My grand honeymoon was summarized as sleep, sleep, and more sleep. Stephen was engrossed in countless papers, and we practically didn't exchange words. Moreover, he slept on the sofa, leaving me alone, but I didn't mind since I realized how insufferable he was during the wedding. Knowing that this marriage is only a signed contract, I had no reason to develop affection.

I was getting ready, going through my daily hygiene routine to start my day. I'm running late because I'll get to know my new home—where I'll live with my... husband.

Since we sealed the deal, I clarified that I wouldn't become useless and spend the whole day doing nothing. Even though I'm married to a billionaire, I insisted on keeping my job.

Wearing only lingerie, I look in a mirror and comb my hair. Unexpectedly, I see Steven opening the door, and startled, I cover my breasts with my hands.

"There's nothing I haven't seen before, Sophie. Come on, I'm in a hurry!" he orders.

He has indeed seen my body in every detail, and I've seen his, too, a perfect and delicious body. I mean, it's kind of okay. Besides, I was drunk when we met, without shame and with a lot of anger towards Hector, unlike this moment, which makes me feel embarrassed.

That man is very irritating, and I can already imagine how difficult it will be to share the same house with him all this time. I have to wait for him to find the "great love" to free me from this torture finally. For me, what matters is that my mother overcomes all the treatment and gets better.

"I'm coming!" I reply irritably.

"I'm waiting for you at the door, no more delays," he reiterates.

"Idiot!" I grumble.

"What did you say?" He immediately stops, turning his gaze to me.

"Look at the time," I deflect with a random sentence, but it was the first thing that came to mind.

I leave the bathroom and see our belongings packed in suitcases and being taken out of the room. An outfit is laid out on the bed, and I had prepared it myself. I hurriedly put it on, and he appears once again.

"I don't have all day, Sophie!" he points to his wristwatch.

"Are you always like this every day?" I roll my eyes.

"How?" Steven furrows his brows.

"Boring!" I exclaim and walk past him, stomping my feet on the floor.

We leave the room, and silence prevails. A black car with bulletproof windows awaits us. I get into the car, ignoring when Steven sits beside me. He greets the driver and the security personnel sitting in the front seat.

We arrived at a beautiful mansion different from where the wedding party occurred. The car passed through massive gates, and I could see a lovely garden with a fountain in the center. In front of the main door, enormous white pillars supported the structure of that incredible house. He has good taste; I had to give him that.

Upon entering the house, a staff team was waiting to welcome us, or me, Steven's wife. Steven pointed me towards the stairs after introductions, including the gardener, housekeeper, cleaning staff, and cooks.

"Let's see the bedrooms," he said.

I felt nervous at the thought that there might be a chance we'd share the same room. I took a deep breath and followed him, ascending the stairs with beautiful handrails. A spacious corridor separated the bedroom doors.

"Wow!" I exclaimed, amazed at the luxury of each place.

"This will be your room," Steven pointed to a door.

"We're not sleeping together?" I asked, surprised and, at the same time, relieved.

"Of course not; why would we?" he shrugged and walked away.

I watched Steven hurry and open a door next to mine, entering and disappearing.

Entering my room, I marveled at its beauty, with white and gold decorations. Flowing curtains adorned the large windows with a view of the garden in front. The sun was shining beautifully outside, and the brightness entering the room made it even more incredible. My belongings were neatly stored in a closet. Everything I had separated in my old apartment was placed and organized in the room.

"Do you need any help, ma'am?" the staff member asked.

"No, thank you. You can leave!" I smiled in gratitude for her kindness.

She smiled and left the room. Alone, I gazed at the beautiful closet with many mirrors and compartments, realizing that my clothes and accessories weren't up to such luxury.

What surprised me even more was seeing new clothes, some jewelry on a mirrored piece of furniture, and bags and shoes that didn't belong to me. I deduced they were for me, as they still had tags on them and showed no signs of use.

"Oh my God!" I am amazed.

I don't want to be labeled as a vulgar and opportunistic person. I don't understand why he did this, but perhaps he wants a woman who matches the social class he belongs to.
