Chapter 59 ALL FOR REVENGE
DAMIAN'S POV
“ Aria, wait. Please wait.” I chased after her,she didn't want to stop till we got to my car.
“What did she mean in there?” She asked, panting angrily.
“It was just…., I was suppose to tell you. But not here, let's just go home, I'll explain.”
When we finally pulled into the driveway, she still didn’t move.
No word.
I was afraid, not fear, but thinking of how to tell her.
We finally reached home, she didn't wait for me to open her door like she always did.
She fled inside.
Viktor was waiting in the living room.
He stood the moment he saw our expressions.
“What happened?” he asked sharply.
I didn’t answer immediately.
I slipped off my jacket, threw it across the couch, and ran a hand through my hair ,a gesture I had come to recognize as the beginning of a fracture.
“She threatened something,” I said.
“What did she say?”
“She said she would expose something.”
“Damian… what is she talking about?” Aria asked
I didn’t look at her.
I ooked at the floor.
“Damian,” she whispered again, stepping closer, “what secret?”
“Viktor.”
“Yes sir.”
“In my room, Now.”
“ Ooh, so this is what we it's all about. Damning me like I don't exist here.” Aria was shouting.”
“I still don't think I should tell her now.” I said.
“ No,you should. I know it's hard, but she'll decide if she wants to still stay. You can't keep her in the dark forever.” Viktor advised.
“I just need time…”
“You’ve had time. Years of it. The storm has already started. If Lila talks first, you lose Aria. If you talk first… you might still lose her, but at least the knife won’t come from behind.”
I pressed my palms into my face.
“I didn’t plan for this to go this far.”
“Yes,” Viktor said dryly, “you did.”
I opened my eyes slowly. “You think I wanted to fall in love with her?”
“No. You wanted to destroy her.”
“The contract paper she signed… Damian, she doesn’t know its real purpose.”
“I know.” My voice cracked. “I know, damn it.”
“You married her to ruin her father’s empire. To take everything she would inherit. To break the man who destroyed your father. She deserves to know.”
The night I swore to my father to take revenge on her. I just remembered it.
“I was going to annul everything,” I whispered. “I was going to change the contract and give her everything back..”
“How did she know?”
“I don't know. But what if there's another thing she's talking about not this.”
“We don't know yet. Clear your guilty conscience.”
“Aria will hate me”
“She might,” Viktor said. “But lying to her will break her faster.”
“Fine. Let's just go to the living room.”
“Ooh. Can you tell me what's going on?,” she said. “Now.”
“Aria…”
“No excuses. No ‘later.’ Tell me what she meant.”
I stepped closer, but she stepped back.
That hurt more than anything.
“I didn’t marry you for Contract sake or because of that little tiff at the hotel,” I said.
“I married you for revenge.”
Her eyes widened,a silent slap.
I continued, because if I stopped, I’d never say it.
“We are connected. More than you think. But we should be allies, but we aren't”
“ STOP. BEATING. AROUND. THE. BUSH”
“Your father and mine were allies, they fought for years. He stole everything from my father. His Reputation,Career,Money,Everything. I swore to take down the revenge. My father was deeply shaken by everything your father….”
She cut me, “ So it was true.”
“What was true?”
“You did it, how could you?” She started hitting me fast on my chest.
“I don't understand.” I asked.
“ You stole from me. My soul, my inheritance,my peace.” She cried.
“You're truly wicked. She warned me, several times. I was blind,by what. Revenge, name it. For those that are dead.”
“Aria,” u tried to reach hold her.
“ Don't you dare touch me. You're evil, all of you.” She pointed at Viktor.
“The only asset my father left was your desire. To take them back. What was that?”
She continued, “ I still remembered the night I cried for my brother. You did nothing. I began to wonder.”
“ What if you were behind it all?”
“Aria. Stop.”
“You killed him right?” She asked.
“Why will I kill someone to get to you?”
“ You're heartless. Wicked.”
“Please.” I tried to hold her hand.
She broke free.
“Don't you dare,ever touch me.”
“There was more I planned to do,” I confessed.
She stopped.
“I wanted to merge your inheritance into my corporation. I wanted to dissolve your father’s name. I wanted his legacy to die under my signature.”
Her tears came.
“You wanted to erase my family,” she whispered.
“My father. My mother. Me.”
“No,” I said, voice breaking. “I never wanted to erase you. You were just… part of the plan.”
“Part of the plan,” she repeated.
“I fell in love with you on the way,” I said, desperate. “Everything changed. That’s why I never carried out the last step.I never merged it. I couldn’t. Everything I planned, everything I wanted to destroy… it stopped mattering.”
“She told me. I never believed her at the start.”
“I was going to give it back..”
“But you didn’t.”
“And Lila knows.” she asked.
“Yes,” Viktor replied.
Aria let out a trembling, humorless laugh.
“So she can expose it. And make me look like a fool. And make you look like a manipulative vulture.”
“Aria, please..”
“How long?” she cut in sharply.
“How long have you planned to tell me?”
I couldn’t answer.
Silence was answer.
She wiped her tears violently.
“You used me.”
“Aria, I swear to you..”
“You married me to punish a dead man,” she hissed. “You married me to hurt someone else.Meanwhile, I was sleeping next to the man who signed away my life. All for a stupid contract.”
She took a deep breath.
“That's why I cancelled the public marriage.”
She didn't care about what I said.
“And now… Lila holds the blade.”
She turned toward the door.
I grabbed her wrist gently.
“Aria,please. Don’t walk away.”
“You already did that,”
“This is the price of secrets,” something in me said it quietly.
No.
No.
This wasn’t how it would end.
I rushed after her, but she was gone, out through the front door.
“Aria!” I shouted.
