Chapter 264 - What are you hiding? - meters
Guadalupe
"That idiot said," I muttered. Lobo placed his hand on my waist, signaling me to walk. I had zoned out, not wanting to listen to that airhead full of silicone talking.
"When are you going back to the United States?"
"Tomorrow."
"Then we'll go together."
"It seems so." I smiled at him. "Kevin." He was surprised when I called him by his name. "I don't want to have dinner with them." He leaned in close to my ear.
"Lupe, I understand, and there's nothing we hate more than being ignored. Use me as you need."
"Thanks, but you have a girlfriend."
He laughed, probably just for show, since that jerk was looking at us like he had a thorn stuck in his throat.
"We're not going to get intimate, don't kiss me on the mouth. I care a lot about my girlfriend, never thought my soulmate would be in Russia. But I will make sure that jerk Mojón swallows a pile of crap." He whispered in my ear, kissed my cheek, and stroked my hair.
"At the usual restaurant," Gladis commented. She shot a dirty look at Marcela. "I imagine you two will celebrate somewhere else alone. I'm pregnant and need peace."
"You're quite rude," Marcela said.
"Not at all, just honest."
"You suppose correctly, we'll be alone again," she responded.
"We'll go with you," said Arnold. Lobo hadn't stopped stroking my hair, he almost had me in an embrace, playing with my hair with that same hand.
"Kevin, since you'll be staying at my place, come with me in the car," Aníbal told us.
"What?!" Lobo smiled, looking at Aníbal and Gustavo, who shrugged.
"You have your house, Lupe is leaving tomorrow with Kevin," Aníbal commented.
"You two make a lovely couple," the airhead said.
"I know," Lobo said. "You have no idea, Marcela, how happy I am to hear about your marriage to Arnold."
Arnold's hands started trembling. Gustavo placed a hand on his shoulder.
Marcela got into Arnold's car, the others did the same, leaving just the four of us.
"If you decide to go to the restaurant, you know where we'll be."
My companion took my hand, but the jerk yanked us apart.
"Now you're going to sleep with him?"
"That's none of your business." I took Lobo's hand again and pulled him. "Besides, I have nothing with you anymore, I can sleep with whoever I want." I smiled. "You know if we hadn't agreed on our thing, I'd be Kevin's girlfriend."
"I'm going to be very direct with you, I'll respect the hierarchy, I stepped aside so you could do the right thing, now you're a committed man. I'll go all out to win over the slight feeling Lupe has for me. She may not love me, but I've never been indifferent to her as a man."
Arnold lunged at him, and if it weren't for Mr. Gustavo stepping in between them, they would have been throwing punches.
"Lupe, the proposal I made a few minutes ago, do you have an answer?" He hadn't proposed anything, but I'd play along with Kevin.
"I told you I'd give you the answer tomorrow." I smiled flirtatiously, and he did too.
"Better not come to the restaurant, you're not in the right state. Besides, Arnold, you made your choice."
At that moment, the two men stared at each other. What the hell is wrong with this jerk? He was a shameless bastard. I didn't matter to him, and he won't matter to me. We got into Aníbal's car.
"Lupe," Aníbal called me. I looked at him through the rearview mirror.
"Sir?" Shirly was hysterical.
"I'll be very honest with you, something doesn't add up with Arnold's actions." I looked at Lobo. "Try to push him to the edge of jealousy."
"I won't do that, he's already made his choice."
……
Aníbal
Guadalupe was listening to rancheras in my living room, the girl couldn't stop singing them at the top of her lungs. Lobo stayed with me in the office for a while, then went to sleep. The one keeping the heartbroken girl company was my wife. The information Kevin brought was unsettling. Let's see what happens this weekend when we definitely need to be in Blanco.
I also had to prepare some documents before she left, and I was working on that. I ran the program and while it processed, I had an hour free. I played with my wedding ring, it might be silly, but it feels amazing to be married. Maybe I was already quite smitten, I looked at the photo of our wedding, how could I not be? I get to make love to such a beautiful woman whenever I want, and knowing that she shows her love every time she looks at me.
I went downstairs, holding the security system device in my hand, ever since what happened with Daniel, we've been on edge. When I reached the living room, Guadalupe was wiping her tears, and my wife handed her a beer. We exchanged glances, and she shrugged, the girl needed to get over it.
What the hell happened to that piece of shit Mojón? If the old lady finds out, her damn tumor will explode. I suppose time will clarify things, but it was surprising to discover the girl's incredible voice. She sang Vicente Fernández's song "Por Tu Maldito Amor" with all her heart.
I got to the kitchen, made myself a sandwich with bologna and cheese, and was pouring a glass of juice when the device sounded the alarm. Someone had breached my security system.
"What the hell!"
I grabbed the gun hidden in the kitchen. When I checked the system, I saw Arnold's code. I put the gun behind my back and went out the kitchen door. The house, designed by Roland, was full of surprises. I circled around and saw my younger brother sitting on the left wall, looking at a laptop.
"I almost shot you for breaking into my house like that."
"You wouldn't until you checked who it was. We have Rata's protocols in our blood. Sorry if I scared you, I don't want her to know I'm here."
"So, do you love her?" He stayed silent. Damn, this was more complicated.
"Where's Lobo?"
"Asleep. Where did you leave your fiancée?"
"At her house."
"You should be with her. Arnold, are you sure about what you're going to do?"
"You know I've always liked Marcela. I was actually thinking of formalizing my relationship with her."
He was right about that, but if he really wanted it, he'd be with her, not here watching the security camera in my living room where Lupe was crying. What are you hiding, Arnold? That was piquing my curiosity.
"I hope you don't regret it. Are you staying over?"
"Yes, Lobo..."
Let's see how far you go with this marriage crap. One thing was clear, Arnold didn't love Marcela. It was obvious how messed up he was over his little "Tadpole," as he called her. I'll help you, Lupe. Lobo is right.
"He's quite interested in her. He's been a gentleman. He told me that as soon as Lupe accepts him, he'll take her away."
All my words were a bunch of lies. Lobo was intrigued, but that was it. Seeing my brother's tense expression confirmed his feelings.
"Is everything okay?"
"What time are they traveling?"
"I bought tickets for nine." We watched as my wife told Lupe to stop drinking and helped her up. "You know which room is yours."
"I'm hungry," he said.
"I'll cook for you. You know my specialty."
"I don't mind the bologna sandwich."
I smiled and patted his back. My younger brother had something hidden. I'll talk to the bosses about it. We went into the kitchen, ate my specialty, reinstalled the security system, and turned off the lights. I'll stay up working a bit longer.
"Which room is Lupe staying in?"
"Two doors down from yours."
He confirmed, and I watched him walk into Lupe's room. I'll find out what's going on with you, Mojoncito. Your last look tells me you can't tell us.

I felt like an idiot. The only thing that unbalanced me was childbirth. I was traumatized with Diana. I couldn't handle the twins, and now even less with Sergio. Roland and Miguel wouldn't stop teasing me about it, but here we were in the waiting room. My Black-haired Beauty's water broke just as Roland and Miguel were coming into my place to discuss what Gustavo had mentioned about Lobo, putting us on alert.
At least we could talk to Lobo in the afternoon. As soon as I heard my wife's scream, I automatically froze. Roland carried his sister, and Miguel drove us to our clinic, which had been part of the R&V Consortium for several months. The idea was to move it to a much larger area, to have everything, like what we had in Colombia.
Roland was working on that design under Dr. Jones's specifications. Now we all had shares in that clinic. Dr. Jones was attending to my wife. My mother-in-law went in with her, and my father-in-law went to get coffee. Don Fausto couldn't stop laughing at me. I just waited for them to call me to hold my son.
"Stop being so nervous," Inés said. The birth was two weeks early, they told me it was normal. I just prayed to God that everything would be perfect.
"I'm fine, old lady."
"Yeah, just like I'm not sick. It's just a birth."
"I know, and you're right. I can't help being scared shitless."
"Who would have believed it? The most serious, rigid, and bloodthirsty man in all of Colombia, a steel beam, unbreakable and assertive in sending anyone who crossed him to the other world, pisses himself at the sight of childbirth." I glared at Miguel for his damn comment.
"Not only does he piss himself, don't forget he also faints," Roland added, teasing. The three of them burst into laughter at my expense. They'll pay for this, those pieces of shit.
